Richard Simmons on the very old, early Howard Stern Show and with a much younger David Letterman (like in this clip) was comedy gold! You knew you were in for a treat! 😆
My favorite appearance was when Dave was razzing Richard for several minutes about his plans to go to medical school, and Richard finally says, "Dave, one day I'm gonna be a doctor and I'm gonna take your temperature!" 🤣
When he was at his best, like here, there was nothing better than Dave before or since. Richard knew what he was in for each time and embraced it. Just perfection on all fronts.
Oh my goodness how i miss richard simmons now and all of the ones that we lost this weekend and through the years my heart is broken st all of the losses we have taken with all of these amazing and beautiful people i also miss you david letterman seeing you on the tonigjt show thank you for all of the wonderful shows that you gave to us dave you are one awsome man❤
Never a big fan, but he was entertaining and tried to help mankind by example, imploring people to live healthy and be kind. Always the optimist. We could use a lot more like him these days. RIP Richard.
One of my all time favorite comedic duos: Richard and Dave. There was nothing I loved more than staying up late on Friday night to watch Dave. Whenever Richard came out it was the best night of my life. RIP Richard. I hope you're sweating away up in heaven.
Somehow Letterman was able to present some celebrities, who in other contexts put me off, as celebrities for whom I needed to revise my opinion. That was a genuine talent and I applaud Letterman for it.
David and Richard had nothing but love for one another. Anyone that thinks otherwise just wants to see negativity in everything and don't have a sense of humor. You can tell by the multiple uploads how Dave really felt towards Richard. Most people get just one video when they pass away. I have a feeling more of Richard are coming. Thanks Dave for the memories RIP Richard
Richard's appearances on Letterman brought so much laughter and so many good memories, probably at some expense to himself. He and Dave were comedy gold together. RIP and thank you for all those wonderful moments, Mr. Simmons.
A classic! I was sorry when Dave went to CBS and stopped going out on the road like that. He was so at at it. What a team they made in this case! RIP RS.
My fave appearance of him was on LATE NIGHT and he came running thru the audience wearing a tuxedo top w/his trademark shorts & as he sat down to settle in Dave said, "Man you look like midnight at the Port Authority!"
😂😂😂 wow! He was such a good man. I’ve seen him in several things that had me crying from laughing. But he helped a lot of people also. Rest in Peace Richard Simmons.
RIP Richard Simmons. What a genius of entertainment. Not only did he save millions of people from obesity, depression and perhaps even suicide, he also entertained them like a professional comedian. In fact David Letterman seemed pretty tame in comparison. You will never be forgotten, Richard. 💙💙💙💙💙
I love Richard Simmons, he was a light. RIP.
Richard and Dave had such comic chemistry, either intentionally or unintentionally
He was a ray of sunshine in the cloudiest of skies. He will be missed.

Yes! Wonderful! Keep combing the vault! More Richard! (Sorry, Dave)
Maybe Letterman and Stern’s greatest guest. He was gold
This made me happy and sad. If only there were more of him in the world. Rip Richard. ❤

Richard was great! He and Dave had some cool chemistry going on.
The "steamer" episode is everything.
For those who don't know, "It's Raining Men" was co-written by none other than Paul Shaffer.
The walking away kills me everytime lol
R.I.P. Richard
Sometimes you never know you like someone until they are gone.
Crazy how much Bill Hader and David Letterman look like each other wow.. RIP Richard Simmons
Back when late night talk shows were genuinely funny and had real stars with talent! 😂 RIP Richard, will never be another soul like you.
RIP thank you
I want full episodes cause now I wanna see Dave Attell
This pair ought to have filmed a buddy cop movie or perhaps even a buddy cop franchise.
Probably one of the funniest bits ever made for late night tv.
man Richard Simmons was one of a kind, nobody did it quite like he did👍
There are MANY people like R.S.
“Richard your ass is hanging out.” 😂
