a secret tech that people havent mentioned is helm of obedience... since the card is getting exiled you can literally play an opponent entire deck and play their wincon
I have been playing on and off for 11 years with friends but I'll have gaps between due to moving a lot so my win ratio was like 3-4 out of 10 I would win. When I saw your deck template and applied it to my decks I'm now with my friends level with about 6-7 out of 10 wins. I got Valgavoth in my pre-release packs yesterday so I'm looking forward to see you build.
I got a good bit of those in the deck. I like having Ancient Cellarspawn for when I can have it Valgavoth and Mindcrank on the field. As long as you have at least 1 more life than your opponent and enough cards in exile it ends up being a fun mid to late game wins
For those folks that ran Griselbrand at the helm pre-banning, this slots nicely in that spot at the helm. Ramp hard as you can, slam it, and just start going to value town. 9 mana is very attainable quickly in monoblack.
My wife has a Liesa, Forgotten Archangel deck that runs a lot of Plaguecrafter-type effects. She casts Plaguecrafter, everyone sacrifices a creature, her creature comes back to her hand at her endstep while her opponents' are all exiled. The deck is MEAN.
As powerful as this seems, it doesn’t seem like it’d be fun to play. It’s just going to make turns last forever as I search through their exiled trying to determine what I want to use and how to use it with my deck. Forgive me, im brand new to magic, and I just pulled Valgavoth in a promo deck. I want to be able to use it but perhaps I don’t know what I’m doing. Would people enjoy playing with me if I had a deck like this?
Probably a good idea. I generally don't run the Medallions unless I'm building a deck designed to cast multiple spells in a turn cycle. If you're only casting 1 spell a turn cycle, there's not much of a difference between a Medallion and Diamond.

Damn, that is one nice combo
Omg thank you for adding budget options!!!!
I'm turning my Tergrid commander deck into a Valgavoth, thanks for the ideas and the decklist.

Great looking deck!

OK bet I'm gonna build this deck 😎
This gives me ideas and I wanted a less of a douchey tergrid deck to try out 😂
Syr Konrad doesn't work here, since no cards are ever actually going to be placed in graveyards.
You're right, Syr Konrad doesn't work with our commander. He's here as more of a backup wincon, just in case our commander is unavailable.
Could I remove the mill cards for lifegain?
I basically have a lot of these staples. But I went more people have to sacrifice their creatures. And then recur those creatures a lot.

Maybe replace Leaden Myr with Jet Medallion?
