As i understand, he was really ill at the time. Nettie, his daughter talked about how they were lucky to catch his illness when they did or its likely that might have been one of his last showings. Fortunately he got checked out and lived a few more years.

Stuart Copeland might possibly be the only drummer to equal Ginger's style of drumming. Of course there are hundreds of gifted drummers but Copeland had that jazz style just like Ginger
It's cause he was his top influence. So amazing your idol comes to your place and plays drums with you, even at that age, a legend knwing how influecial he was for Mr.Copeland. Amazing!

When members of my family switched to CD (something they now regret!) I got handed down various pieces of vinyl and one was this 'Best of' Cream album with vegetables on the front....I just remember as an aspiring drummer being blown away by his drumming and some 20 years later nothing has changed. A skilled musician and superb drummer who taught me the importance of learning the rudiments...as tedious as they can be, later it does make things easier!
Lots of people run circles around all of us. That’s not the point. These are two personalities who have managed to impact the way we all play. How many of us posting here can make that claim?

After that, Led Zeppelin took almost the last of the 60’s and most of the 70’s. Where was Clapton and Baker? They where almost MIA during the 70’s.
everyone needs to realize Peter was not always what he has been recently portrayed as. If for example he had died of alcohol poisoning or drug use 30 years ago like others in his generation he would likely be canonized. If you take the time to seek out certain but limited you tube portrayals you will realize he was a musicians musician. there is one lengthy video of him giving a drum clinic for MI, that tells more about his character than the later life mean spirited and in constant pain person he became.
