Good way of putting it. Think about what he’s going to be doing when he’s in his early twenties, with ~10 lb more muscle and a young and talented supporting cast. That’s when it’s going to get really fun!
Did anyone see Celebrinis deke off the boards vs one of th best D´s in the league... backhand off the board, breaks the D´s Anklesm and smoothly skates pass him. the sickest move I´ve seen! was one or 2 games ago.
A biased Sharks fan here, I've watched Sharks hockey since I was a baby 31 years ago. The only player that the Sharks have faced that reminds me of Macklin is Crosby. Not saying he's at Sid's level or will reach it but his game is very similar. And if you have to choose on who to build around, I'll take the player that echos Crosby's game over anyone else
It's hard to be accurate because celebrini has better players surrounding him than Bedard. Chicago is doing ABSOLUTELY nothing to help Bedard out. They go out and sign or trade for has beens and sign mediocre players as free agents.
Celebrini’s drive, discipline and will to be the best (while also coming off as being “humble”) probably has a lot to do with his parents. They were both elite athletes themselves, and Rick Celebrini’s roles leading sports development and performance for both the Vancouver Whitecaps and GS Warriors means that unlike 99% of 18 year olds making a leap into pro sports, he was both prepared and not “overwhelmed by the moment.” He makes everyone else around him better. In NBA parlance, I look at Mac’s play similar to Steph Curry while Bedard plays more like Hames Harden. Both are great, but Steph’s all around game and unselfish play unlocks championships.
Bedard's shooting and playmaking are stronger, but Celebrini's tenacity in board battles is among the best in the league already at only 18 years old. If Bedard can find that Crosby grit, I think he'll be the better player in the long run. As it stands, though, Celebrini is a better overall package, and he gets my vote.
Not only and not always are the number one picks at the end the real generational talents. Hockey is more than numbers seems to show. Draisaitl was for example a number 3 pick - and next season the best payed hockey player in the league. He makes everybody around him in the team and his lineup a better player. That's what counts way more!
Bedard , This is a slump for Bedsy & a hot streak for Celebrini happening at the same time. Time will tell, you’ll see. Bedard’s passing and offensive awareness is unmatched
This is so true. And Connor Bedards “ Slump “ still has 21 pts in 26 games 😂 like whattt if that’s considered a slump than i have high high hopes for bedard.
Looks to me right now Celebrinis game is more ready to play and be successful in the NHL. Saying that Bedard has very little to play with even less than Celebrini. I think down the road if blackhawks finds some talent to surround him it will be close. But I would say Celebrini will have a better career because he skates better and has better all around game.
Easily Bedard, people just hate the hawks and Bedard cause of the thing. Bedard has more points and he’s been in a “slump” and he still has more points
why is this comment section acting like Bedard is a certified scrub lmao. I don't think people understand how bad the Hawks roster is compared to the Sharks. Bedard missed 14 games last season and still ended 7 pts above the 2nd highest??? This year. Celebrini is 5th in scoring on his team while Bedard is 1st on his team. Bedard is basically carrying the offensive load and the main focus on their opponents defensive game plan, while Celebrini has the luxury of being the 2nd, 3rd option offensively.
Michkov lol... if I have to choose between those 2 though Celebrini is the better 2 way player while Bedard has the higher offensive ceiling. Honestly I think Michkov has been the best of the 3 so far though. You can argue Celebrini but Michkov has been awesome!

Watching the clip and wow, this is embarrassing. The way Geno kept asking in different ways to get Button to say Cele was better… Button has pretty much the correct take here, but people seem to be taking some sort of sick pleasure out of Bedard “failing”. The hate for him now is sad. I remember a year ago the “glazing” for him was apparently the worst thing in NHL history, and now everyone is glazing celebrini x10 harder. Just because Celebrini is playing amazing doesn’t mean Bedard is suddenly a bust or worse. Celebrini is what everyone says, sure, but Bedard has vision and skill that is just unparalleled. Says a lot when someone is famous for their shot but their passing is even better. People have short term memory loss - they forget hes the best U20 IIHF player Canada has ever produced, with objectively more impressive stats and accomplishments than McDavid or Crosby at age 15-17. That doesn’t just go away. He’d have twice the points he does playing with elite talent like Granlund and company. Why don’t we wait more that 15 games before deciding the fate of their careers - or better yet, be glad two players of this caliber are coming into the league at the same time (plus Michkov).
Celebrini isn’t playing with granlund though.. he’s playing with Kovalenko(rookie) and Tyler toffoli who is very inconsistent. He’s driving play every single game on a very bad team
@ He has, plays with him on the PP, and I’d take Toffoli’s offence over Donato’s any day. Otherwise yes I agree he is doing that, as does Bedard - but Celebrini is the one with more options, time, and space. That’s not a knock, what he has is par for the course on 95% of teams. Hawks have had the some of the worst offence possible through much of Bedard’s career so far. It’s especially impressive he has been close to a ppg given the total lack of O pressure they are able to sustain - in his rookie year he got most of his points off the rush. An extra few minutes in the O-zone with sustained pressure makes a significant difference, and Bedard always has that handicap. I watch sharks game, they are much better here, much more talented. Hawks have been great on the PP, I will say.
@@MatthewTaylorBlais Celebrini is actually doing the worst on the PP, so yeah. You're out to lunch. Celebrini is the one holding the puck in the zone and making plays. He wins puck battles like crazy.

Even McDavid has his 200ft game called into question. When your ceiling is 130+ points, personally I’m just like, oh well lol. I’m a believer in role players - Bedard’s offense is good enough to win cups. Not every player has to be 200ft. Plus, Bedard has proven to be the kind of guy to obsessively try and improve.
