I tried calling microsoft, which is a very frustrating experience as the site either doesn't recognise anything you say when they give you the prompt or if you get through, the person who you speak to tells you they'll put you through to somebody more qualified, then after two minutes of music the line goes dead. They're really not that interested unless you want to buy something.

Try checking your D or E folder. That’s where I found my data. For unknown reason the user data is transferred there.

Windows won't take you to an account, you have to select the NEW account you created at bottom left... assuming you did so correctly!
