Good video nice ship we've had her here in Waterford a couple of times, it's amazing that those wooden jetties survive so long any idea when they were built.
@@patman491 thank you for subbing. I subbed yours. Loads of ships on your channel 👍🏻. I asked ChatGPT your question:- The jetties at Sharpness Dock, part of the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, were constructed during the canal’s development to facilitate the transfer of goods between ships and inland waterways. • The original dock and associated jetties were built in 1827 when the canal was completed. • However, larger, more modern jetties were added during the expansion of the dock in 1874 to accommodate larger vessels and improve loading and unloading efficiency. Sharpness Dock has undergone several modifications since, but its core infrastructure, including the jetties, reflects its 19th-century origins.
@Gintonics2 That's very interesting thanks for going to the trouble, I was at sea for 17 years on small container ships and a short while on Irish ferries, the container ships were owned by Bell Lines from Waterford 🇮🇪 we used to run to Newport and Avonmouth I'm sure they had wooden jetties like Sharpness.
For a big ship they made it look so easy. Makes you wonder why it's so difficult to park a car, lol 🤣 🤣. Great video, thanks 👍👍👍
@@robertbate5790 I know, it’s incredible how they do it.
