Fun story: My elementary drama class was doing Seussical in 3rd grade and I went to the auditions. I was gonna sing Frozen as my song. (As a 3rd grade girl does) I was so nervous that I couldn't even remember the lyrics to my song. They made me sing Happy Birthday. Guess who didn't make the cast list.
The thing I do that helps with my anxiety (I have an anxiety disorder too) is I try and learn everything I can about the person I'll be playing, then I can analyze the character and try and FULLY get into the role. That way, when I'm on stage, I'm not going to be worrying about how many people in the audience or if something is going to go wrong because I'm not "myself" I'm whoever I'm playing in that moment, because to the audience, that's who you are. And it really helps! Idk if I explained that right it's hard to put down in words.
I have anxiety disorders too so it makes it a little more difficult, but I say just start out with non-speaking roles and just work your way up. That’s what I’m doing at least :)

23:39 True story. Last July, I performed as a Snail in A Year With Frog and Toad (Yes, the KIDS version because that was once the only one that fitted everyone's voices. Don't laugh. And because of this version, there were 3 snails, and I was the third.) This happened on opening night, and there were three dressing rooms. One for the males, and two for the females (tons of females, might I add). Then suddenly everyone in my dressing room started singing The Letter (first one). The only "lead" role we had besides me was Mouse. But whatever, she joined in. Plus, I was the only Snail in that dressing room (I forget if Snail 2 was in there but whatever). All the other leads were in different rooms. And before our third show, me, some of the squirrels, another one of the snails, and some others started singing children's show songs. And we may or may not have annoyed Mouse and Frog during that time period (which I REALLY feel bad for because that's when I started my lesbian era AND I had developed a crush on Frog) so that haunts me to this day. ( P.S. also if somehow someway you were in this performance on the days of Jul. 20 and Jul. 21, hi. )
