    • @smiddlehurst1
      @smiddlehurst1 Год назад +10

      Their explanation - which I agree with btw - was Kirkwood was in the third lane rather than second. Normally that’d be cars that had received service and were outbound from the pits. Heck you can see it was likely to cause Kirkwood problems if you watch his on-board, the angle he’s having to come in at is very steep. Now you can also say that whoever’s responsible for the release should have those around them memorised but not sure that’s practical at the speed things happen in the pits and with some very similar paint jobs. On balance both could have done better but a penalty for Rossi after he’d already lost 6 laps as a result felt.. umm, let’s go with strange.

    Can some American explain me why NASCAR has full crowd stadiums and indycar barely fills the grand stand? Indycar is so much more exciting and the quality of drivers is much higher than in NASCAR. Being a simple European, i just don't get it.

    • @steveo_80
      @steveo_80 Год назад +1

      (Canadian here) NASCAR for the last 35 years has marketed its drivers 1000% better than IndyCar, which for half of that time was too busy with infighting to do anything about NASCAR's rise. Like how in Europe, F1 drivers have almost cult-like status amongst highly loyal fans, in America, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett, Terry and Bobby Labonte, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Kurt and Kyle Busch are all household names that people either love, or love to hate. IndyCar to this day still lags behind in marketing.

    • @homeperson11244
      @homeperson11244 Год назад +2

      It had to do with broadcasting deals. Unlike F1 and NASCAR who now control their own TV deals, the current IndyCar TV deals basically making the current holder (NBC) had control on when the race could be started. Now as a national broadcaster, never expect a motorracing showed on prime time i.e 6pm because really nobody wants it. As a result, some of the race were started not in such an ideal time that it not warrant enough people to came(A problem that was obvious on track like Texas and Gateway at recent time, and pretty much the reason why we don't see any single night race even in street circuit).
      In the past, this problem was solved by having races aired on cable network which was why we've still got night races. But that channel died couple of years ago so we've got this. If anything, the only choices they got is to broadcasted it on streaming services which unless you're F1 TV, it never going to work.

    I’m not a Kirkwood fan. I’m am a fan of Rossi fan. 100% fault of Rossi’s crew chief. Rossi should have not be released. Kirkwood was in the third lane so as to allow cars to leave their pit box cleanly. That’s why Kirkwood came in at that time trek angle. Incoming car or car already in the driving lane always has right of way over car leaving pit. Indy, F1, IMSA all have this rule. Kirkwood would have collected another racer if he had slowed too much. Also no way Kirkwood would have seen Rossi. No way Rossi would have seen Kirkwood. That’s while the release is on the crew chief. The penalty was on the team.

Palou showing he is no fluke. Andretti despite having little to show for it is showing pace... RLL lost and confused and AJFR not doing anything as usual, Santino has his work cut out for him. Nobody has ever been at Texas Motor Speedway since the 90s. The track is dying. NASCAR has had empty stands at the track for decades

      oh look, fellow F1 fan trying to watch indycar
      I usually look on the IndyCar subreddit since they would always post a spotters guide there, as for drivers I just pick someone at random to be my favorite lol since I have no idea about any of them; my favorite driver is Pato O'ward btw

      It's not that hard to understand, it's an oval race, they refuel these cars, two tire types, limited pit crew. Other than that basically the same as F1

      He gets an A for his speed and trying but needs to stay clean and finish the race to get results.
