    Do NOT throw the tool shield away. They were designed for chisels, I believe. Although the would work well on your favorite Stanley fixed blade utility knife. In you regular tool bag it can protect a short file, a chisel or two, and they will protect your bag. You will find a use for it. They. I have several, not from Occidental, but I find them very useful.

      I’m definitely not throwing it away. I’ve got it in my carpentry bag now with chisels and a pencil in it 👍

    Occidental is the way man! I have only had 3 tool bags in my life so far. 1st was a kolbalt one from Lowes it was barely ok but I was just starting out in carpentry I didn’t know anything when I bought it. It only lasted 1yrs and a half before it fell apart. Then I bought a gator back tool belt it was pretty good lots of pockets and deep buckets very nice and useful I still have it at home it’s a little bit worn out but it’s still good for home repair stuff. After the gaterback I decided to go for it and get the occidental lights and man oh man they are top notch! They are designed to perfection everything is thought out so spot on like they have a pocket or slot or holder for anything . They are comfortable too easy on the back even after 8hrs of wearing it with it loaded with all my tools. I want to get the 5 in 1 hammer holder I just the single hammer holder right now it good but I need a extra pliers holder and I don’t have a good spot to put more than 2 pencil and markers and my channel locks are always just floating around in the bottom of my bags it’s hard to get them out sometimes depending on how much stuff is covering them. I’ve been looking n tempting myself with the occidental fat lip bags but mine are in good shape still but I still look at them after a stressful day at work to calm my nerves and relax

      I really like the one that I’ve had for my electrical tools. It’s just super high quality leather. It feels like it will last forever if you take good care of it.

    Occidental Leather makes the best carpenter bags on the market. To be sure, you pay for American made quality and innovation, but professionals typically demand that level of quality. The plastic tool holder is made for your razor sharp chisel that would cut the leather. I put an oil soaked rag in the bottom of mine to receive the cutting edge to help keep rust at bay. For what it’s worth, I remove the clip on my fat max tape and carry it in the pouch upside down, it slides in more easily that way and seems to fit better. I also glue a piece of white Formica onto the side of the tape take to take notes on. I gang cut a bunch of rounds on the drill press with a hole saw minus the pilot bit and then give them to my carpenter friends.

      @realworldtoolreviews  2 года назад

      Yea I would use the plastic holder if I needed a chisel. I like it a lot better without it for what I do though. I’m loving the pouch so far!

    When you were showing the flathead and had mentioned earlier you were using a flashlight I was thinking "man right there would be the spot for one" but glad I stuck out til the end to comment and avoid the foot in my mouth lol.
    I don't have any experience with the Fastback to know how good the screwdriver part is but I figure it's already got a flathead built in, but its a different size...

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 года назад

      Yea the fastback has a flat head but I like having a regular flat head screwdriver for prying and beating on. I’m gonna use it for a while and I’ll figure out if I need the flashlight to be right there or not.

  • @josephalexander3884
    @josephalexander3884 2 года назад +1

    Try clipping the Streamlight horizontally in the top of the belt slot. You should have enough room for your belt. You can keep your screwdriver.

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 года назад

      I tried the light in the belt loop. I don’t like it there. I think I’m just going to have to carry it separately 😭

  • @adamsmith7548
    @adamsmith7548 Год назад

    a little late but you have a flat blade on the fastback. I always carry my little inspection light in my front left pocket but I don't use belt bags often. just a thought.

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  Год назад

      Yea the flat head is more for prying and scraping than it is for actual flat head screws. That flat head bit on the knife isn’t really what I need.

    I discovered inconsistencies if I have multiple tape measures of different brands or styles. This took me a while to figure out but the one by my miter saw was different than the one I wore around with my pouch and things didn't match my about an 8th of an inch. Now I only use the Stanley lever lock tape measures I have like 4 of them floating around that all read the same. How's that olight knife working out for you?

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 года назад

      You can’t go wrong with the power lock. It’s the best in my opinion. The olight knife is pretty good. I’m gonna have a video on it in a couple days. Definitely a well made knife for the price.

      @@realworldtoolreviews Guess what? I bought it today. They had the spring promo going on so I ended up pulling the trigger. It's actually small. It's big but compact best way to describe it. I got the tp2l. I was thinking of getting the tp1l but they seem almost the same.
      Overall the quality is similar to Occidental leather honestly. It's pretty light though. I think you will like it. But it's handmade so it's not perfect. I'm gonna compare this to my pocket caddy when I get back to work.
      I like that it can stand by it's own.
