It is not slow paced. I lived in Summerland Key and Key West for 33 years.. People struggle to be able to afford a home, etc. The area has changed immensely.
I know we have gotten a lot of square groupers come ashore. However I haven’t encountered a lot of drug use. Of course there are always some rude people but I think for the most part the people in Marathon are friendly.
I liked hearing your views on this. For me the pros outweigh the cons by a long margin. Just gotta get my wife there!

I'm sorry but you only are correct on the last 2.. far from paradise.. people are not always friendly and the drugs are everywhere.
