      We put too much emphasis on undefeated records. This isn’t boxing, a loss shouldn’t take anyone out of GOAT convos, it helps but someone like khabib can be considered a goat to many but only has like 3-5 good wins

      @bot6349 15 дней назад +3

      @Eltiburonmma I don't know who you're responding to.
      I'm mentioning his losses so people DON'T use his "undefeated" record as an excuse because it's not true, Jon did lose. I'm not pointing out his losses to get him out the GOAT convo (it's one of the reasons, but I listed all my other reasons why Jon isn't the greatest) but to stop others like Dana and the UFC from claiming he is undefeated as a reason he is the GOAT.
      My GOAT is GSP who definitely has losses. The difference is he avenged them and wasn't delusional enough to claim he never lost, unlike a certain duck. He also wasn't on PEDs but that's another issue.

      @@bot6349 I know, sort of what I mean. MMA fans are mostly made up of casuals, they care more about the fighters record than they care about how the fighter acts, even tho the fighters represent our sport. And that just gives people the green light to avoid accountability. Like Jones will go to any lengths to make sure he stays undefeated because of his legacy, because people see him as the GOAT for being “undefeated” when he in fact isn’t.

    • @panspermiapancakes
      @panspermiapancakes 12 дней назад +6

      Jones has wins over 11 champions, it's a lot more if we count interim champions. He didn't fight entirely bums before Bader, but some of them were. Bader was only his 7th fight in the UFC, and he was only 23 years old when he won the belt. It's not his fault the division was older than him, but they weren't quite on the downsides of their careers yet either. I feel like the only exception to that is when he fought R. Evans.
      I agree with all your other points. I'm not a fan of Jones, been cheering against him in most of his fights across his career, but I can't agree with you that they were all shitty old fighters. What Jones did was shocking at the time and insanely impressive. Most people do not become champion until their late 20s or early 30s.
      If Jones resume looks like shit now, it's only in retrospect because he broke most of his opponents mentally afterwards. Even Reyes, who everyone thinks beat him, was mentally fucked after that fight and never the same.

    Horrendous takes. There’s no known man alive right now beating Jon Jones in a MMA fight.
    Imagine starting the video with Jon Jones beats Shogun Rua and saying “Meh” while he was 23 years old making history as the youngest champion. 😂
    The amount of hate in this video is troll worthy honestly. Jon Faced Legends. People saying he beat a bunch of Pride middle weights? Bro Middle weight in pride was 205lbs. He fought legit light heavyweights. He’s got probably the greatest resume in all MMA. Yes Jon got popped for PEDs yes that tarnished the legacy, but is he not the greatest talent that ever stepped in the ring? It’s also worth it to research how little was found of PEDs in his system not saying he didn’t cheat but there is some questionable evidence that could support Jon being a victim of tainted supplements atleast once. NOT SAYING HE DIDNT CHEAT.
    But regardless what do you want from the dude? He’s got more title fights than any fighter, more title wins than any fighter, truthfully undefeated, had a couple close fights Gus/Santos/Reyes but did beat them. I would honestly say Gus was way closer than Reyes. Reyes gave up after round 2, from 3-5 was all Jon.
    Dude went up and beat Cyrl to become champ, in spectacular fashion. Then beat Stipe in spectacular fashion. Sure Stipe is older, but he’s still Stipe. The fight got made like 2 years ago, Jon got injured and this was unfinished buisness. Did Stipe not deserve the shot? Was Dana supposed to just say fuck off Stipe, here’s Aspinal now. No. This is also why I don’t get the Jon Jones is ducking Aspinal, he’s not ducking him at all. He had unfinished business with Stipe. Aspinal keeps making videos saying Jon won’t fight him and that his in this weird spot and can’t obtain the belt. No you’re not, the clock just started ticking on even being able to receive a contract or review negations for a fight between either of them. Jon is right. What’s Aspinal have to offer him, Jon has been collecting legends under his belt like Thanos collecting infinity stones for coming on two decades now. Jon has money, he doesn’t need anything out of an Aspinal fight unless it’s as he stated “Fuck you money” and I don’t blame him. I hope he gets it, and beats Aspinals ass so everyone will shut the fuck up, he’s right Aspinal is annoying. We’ve seen Jones fight like 5-6 Aspinal like characters that were sure to beat him already..
    So yeah hopefully we see JJ vs Aspinal, then get the Pereira fight. In a perfect world that’s how it happens.
    Idk the RUclipsr who posted this honestly has me convinced he’s trolling, it’s just wild takes, completely hating.

      I agree with most of what you said however you’re giving jones a bit too much slack. Jon cheated multiple times and he’s the LAST person I’d give the benefit of the doubt it. Don’t fall for the “tainted supplements” claim. Jon is a sociopath who will tell you whoever you need to hear to win you over.
      As far as Tom, he had a really good chance to beat Jon, same with Francis. I do agree with you that Jon doesn’t need to fight Tom, however if Jon doesn’t plan to stay at heavyweight he needs to vacate the belt. Tom has already defended the interim belt and jones is actively ruining his career by holding the belt hostage. Jon is getting old so if he just wants to stick around for money fights then I’m perfectly fine with that as long as he doesn’t log jam the division like Connor did.

    I’ll be honest I’m a Jon Jones hater, but even I can’t get behind this idea. As someone who’s been following the sport most of my life, his legacy is that of the greatest of all time. You can argue he lost a close decision to Reyes and beat an over the hill Stipe, but even if both those events were scrubbed from the record books, he’s still at worst the second greatest MMA fighter of all time behind GSP.
    If you want to argue his first few fights were against lesser competition, that applies to every fighter on the roster. The fact of the matter is he cleaned out an entire division that was a murderers row. DC 2x, Gus 2x, Rampage, Shogun, Rashad, Machida, Sonnen, Vitor, Glover, Bonnar, Santos, Bader, Smith, OSP, Gane is probably the greatest resume in the history of the sport and it’s not even including his most recent win over the greatest UFC heavyweight of all time.

He's the same age as many of the people he faced throughout his career. So don't use that as an excuse to avoid the fight, while propping him up with wins over the same age group. • @BunnyMMA
      @BunnyMMA  11 дней назад +3

      Listen bud. There is no doubt that Jon jones is one of the most of not the most skilled mma fighter we’ve ever seen. His resume although I feel a little overrated is still the best. Yes you can be the best and be overrated as overrated simply means rated higher than you should be. He had some stinkers. He hasn’t been as dominant as everyone would like to suggest
      The Gus 1 fight
      Taking santos to a decision one one leg and nearly losing
      Clearly losing to Dominick Reyes 3-2 and being gifted a decision
      Taking Anthony smith to a decision
      Ducking aspinall
      Ducking ngannou
      Doing steroids
      At what point can we critique him? Are we just supposed to say yeah he destroyed everyone and it wasn’t even close? It’s just not true. And despite having a near foot reach advantage over nearly every opponent he faced he still had to go and juice? Was he not confident enough in his skills to win?
      One can argue steroids don’t give you fight IQ. Which is true.
      But it allows for easier recovery in training, less injuries. Better cardio and muscle mass. Which other fighters like dc who aren’t doing roids don’t have.
      To conclude. I’m saying he is overrated to some degree and should be critiqued due to ducking certain opponents. Narrowly beating what we would call “mid fighters” and taking steroids. That’s it

    • @UsernameVegeta
      @UsernameVegeta 11 дней назад +4

      @ you can have that opinion all you like. Truth is a majority of the fights Jon did have were against legends of the sport. Jon ruled over 205 when it was murders row. Narrowly beating “Mid fighters” brother who is a mid fighter fighting for a LHW belt in the UFC? You have some silly takes man. It’s one fight at a time in the UFC. Jones Beat Reyes 3-5 and would say the Gus fight was even closer, but that’s the game you play in MMA sometimes you have good showings and bad showings. When you find yourself taking something away from a fighter for winning a close entertaining fight you might be a hater. Jon Jones has never been involved in a robbery W fight. To say he ducked Ngannou putting on weight to go to heavy weight is kinda a hard argument to make. But I guess you can make it, idk man. You’re witnessing a one in a life time talent and you’re shitting all over him for clout. Tell me how over rated he is at the same time as telling me who has done all he has done and has all the accolades he has? You can’t be overrated at the top if you have nothing greater to be compared to. I’ll wait.

His second fight was Stephan Bonnar the Stephan Bonnar with legendary Forest fights. Go look at Aspinals first couple years he got destroyed by Clark who never made it to UFC getting taken down tons. From there we are talking pure legends. I think when people look at the names and level of competition is wild. Kahbib beat 20+ school teachers and cab drivers to fluff his record and only last handful were the top guys. Aspinal has a couple big name wins. Acting like OSP and Thiago Santos are easy fights to finish. Reyes ran too much and fight was in Texas so being the aggressor matters more and you need more significant shots like in round one if you run the whole time.

      Well maybe if we were judging the fight as a whole then sure. But fights are judged round by round basis. And Reyes clear as day won round 123 and jones won 45. And that matters why, exactly? It doesn't matter if a guy looks the same as he did in the 1st or if they're too tired to even stand after that final bell sounds. It doesn't count for anything significant enough to change the fact that over the course of a five round fight, you lost more rounds than you won. Maybe Jones would have earned a legitimate decision win if there had been five more rounds. Maybe he could have 10-8'd Reyes in rounds 6-10. Maybe he could have stopped Reyes in the very first second of round 6. Knocked him out cold or submitted him. Unfortunately though, none of those hypotheticals mean shit because world championship fights are scheduled for five rounds and five rounds maximum. Been that way for a long time now.

    When we speak of Martial Artists, we speak of people who have unified body mind and spirit. They are leaders who lead by example, and have almost always acted as role models to others who want to achieve what they have. As even a concept, Jones is the opposite of a Martial Artist. He is a coward (flees the scene after hitting someone with his car), has no responsibility towards his family (beats his wife), and is a snitch. Forget Martial Artist, this guy is furthest thing from even a good man. He's a disgrace, and needs to be treated as such.

      @ he did lmao I watched the fight recently TJ Dilla once said that Anthony just gives up and is why he isn’t champion and I hate to say it but I saw it in that in the Jones fight. Like you said in more recent years Jones became a decision guy he doesn’t really knock ppl out like that.
      And yeah that was pretty sad he couldn’t finish Santos and yeah he def lost to Dominick but tbf he looked average compared to his usual prime ability because years prior he fought like once a year do ring rust is probably a factor we don’t see a lot of his unorthodox fight style in that fight.

      He also was fighting Anthony because he had already cleaned out the division. Calling Jon's resume as "soft" is a terrible argument when theres literally people who come into the UFC and fight 3 people before getting a title fight while Jon is one of the only fighters ever to clean out their division after what, defending the title 9 times?

But I would not dare to say that Jones is overrated anyway, and fighting middleweights just give him more credit because he was the target of everyone and always won, with eye pokes, steroids yeah, not the best person in the world for sure, but one of the top 5 GOATs fore sure

  • @ebando1753
    @ebando1753 8 дней назад

    I just don’t feel like attacking Jon Jones resume is the way to undermine his legacy. Perspective is very important. Everyone fights nobodies before top competition, in any professional combat sport. because they are all essentially NOBODIES together. You going at guys like Gusmao and Jake O Brien means nothing, he was just starting out. Stephen Bonnar was his first true test in 2009 being an established veteran, had nothing to do with how good he is all-time. Brandon Vera was a decent win in 2010, being that he was pretty accomplished outside the UFC prior. Although Shogun wasn’t in his prime in 2011, the narrative was that Jones might actually struggle with the champ. In hindsight it might not be all amazing but back then, nobody expected a young JBJ to run through the legend like that. There’s a reason it’s considered one of the most iconic title victories in UFC history. I never understood the Anthony Smith logic. It’s easy to say that win is “embarrassing” when looking at at the last five years or so of Lionheart’s career, but in 2018 he was a pretty decent fighter. He was not a can YET. How else would he have got the title shot if he wasn’t half-good? Outside of the illegal knee, Bones absolutely dominated that fight. Regardless of going to a decision with him, it still wasn’t remotely competitive at any point. People who actually watched the fight would know Jones had multiple opportunities to end it, but I genuinely think he wanted to be in there that long. He literally emptied the entire bag of strikes he knew, a 25 minute technical destruction. He wasn’t standing around, stalling, like some decision artists. Anyone who enjoys pure skill enjoyed that bout. Same thoughts for the OSP fight, Jon said himself in the post-fight presser that he didn’t wanna take risks knowing the dangers of St Preux. The goal was to snag the interim and get out with minimal damage, which he did just that. There’s nothing wrong with a few decisions. Even the Thiago Santos fight, even on one leg he was very tough and DANGEROUS. Jones recognized that and still fought him as if he wasn’t compromised. That’s IQ. The logic that he should’ve rushed into those flurries and risk getting clipped is stupid. Also, I never believed that fight was even close, Jones clearly won. Jones landed almost 20 more total strikes and outstruck him in every round but R1. Most of those rushing hooks that Santos was using were misses if you slow down the tape. His pressure created the illusion that he was outpointing his opponent, but that wasn’t the case. He really only landed clean a handful of times. You must understand that a guy most likely isn’t going to submit/ko every opponent he comes across. Gameplans and strategies aren’t always the same. It’s actually hilarious to me that people use Jon’s winning performances against him. The only fight he genuinely fought horrid in to me was against Reyes, being to passive for the first three rounds, poor defense, and only picking up the activity in the championship rounds. The Dominick Reyes loss, steroids are valid points and even then I don’t think it’s enough to say he isn’t the goat. Resume isn’t the way to do this.

    Taking a one legged Santos to a SD is a loss in itself to me, and I just watched the Reyes fight again, no doubt lost 1-3. Jones record is 27-2 at best with Hamil overturned (shouldn't be but for arguments sake) or 26-3, and he'd lose to Tom 100% and I don't see him lasting 5 mins
    * Also, Shogun was comimg off his 2nd major knee surgery and Jones literally got a short notice title fight with a legend after beating like 1 top 10 win. Theres a punch of new champions that not a lot people care about besides Alex. And I also think that Dana wanting the UFC to be bigger then any of there fighters, so to not let any fighter get to big were they can demand more money. He wants everybody to be happy with bare minimum but that is the issue of no new superstars in the sport because they know that Dana isn’t going to pay them what there worth. and that’s why all the old fighters end up doing boxing to try and get some money at the end of there career.

      @@MontyElazegui No that's my point, his entire premise is absurdly pedantic to the point it makes 0 sense! How is someone overrated if you're comparing him to respective fighters in his weight-class? Why would someone like GSP who has done the same thing with worse opponents (objectively) be better? Just to proceed to keep him on his list?

      You can be the best and still be overrated. Overrated simply means higher rated than you should be
