      It’s not 50/50 at all. Not at this point. Maybe a 25 year old version of Jones at HW, or even a 30 year old version, if he had moved to HW then, then _maybe_ he would have had a 50/50 shot against Aspinall. But I doubt it even then. But _this_ version of HW Jon Jones, at this point in his career? I’d put it closer to 90/10 in Tom’s favor. Tom is just way too big, strong, fast, skillful, and powerful for Jon.

    • @DanandDrake
      @DanandDrake Месяц назад +6

      @therainman 100% I agree it’s like 9/10 in favour of Tom. A lot of these RUclipsrs are afraid to give such a confident pick especially cos the hype of Jon, but as long as you have eye balls and you can see the way Tom moves and hell, even the way Curtis blaydes or jailton almeida moves, it’s really hard to imagine a reality in which jon doesn’t get immediately overwhelmed and is straight up too slow and has too shit of boxing defence to not immediately get folded by some random clipping punch to the side of the ear from Tom.
      I don’t think Jon even has the knees to consistently shoot takedowns and grapple a heavier, stronger, skilled guy like Tom. Like I can totally envision Jon shooting on him, not really budging Tom much, have mediocre grappling success, having Tom get up then just march Jon down and fucking him up.

    • @therainman7777
      @therainman7777 Месяц назад

      @@DanandDrake Agreed. The one thing people backing Jones against Aspinall can say is that Jones does appear to have a really strong chin, having never been KOd and barely ever been wobbled. But he’s also never fought someone who had the KO power of an Aspinall, Ngannou, or Pereira. He’s also avoided many KOs in his career by simply being too good to get hit cleanly, but those days appear to be over as even an ultra stiff and slow version of Stipe caught him multiple times.

    22:10 bro Paul Craig infuriates me whenever he is in the cage.. The dude has no striking.. He is low-key worse than the likes of Ben Askren.. At least he could take guys down and get TKOs on the ground.. Paul needs a hail mary submission from his back to win a fight. In hindsight, the win over Ankalaev can be seen as a fluke.

    Jon makes it look like most of his opponents are heavy bags honestly ,

    • @therainman7777
      @therainman7777 Месяц назад +6

      No that’s really not it. You can’t “make” someone look like a heavy bag in the first couple minutes of the fight. Maybe if you landed an insane liver shot or something in the first 30 seconds. But in reality Stipe looked extremely slow and stiff before Jones had even landed a shot. He had no business being in there.

      @@therainman7777 Just look at Jones every fight he’s in makes everyone else look stiff, slow, and washed up. He’s had only two close fights in his entire career; the rest were pure domination

    • @therainman7777
      @therainman7777 Месяц назад +1

      @ Yeah I just don’t know what you’re talking about. He’s made a lot of people look inferior to him, because they were inferior to him. He was the better fighter in all those fights. But I disagree that he made everyone look stiff and slow. A lot of people were bouncing around the ring with Jones, being quick, being evasive, being athletic, being strong. Jones was just a more skilled fighter and always found ways to win. (Except when he didn’t, aka Dominic Reyes.)

      @@therainman7777 Everybody always has an excuse when Jones wins. Today, he put on a clinic, making Stipe look that bad simply because he's just that good

      @ No man, I’m sorry but that just isn’t true. Jones has made many good fighters look not so good, that’s true. But Stipe truly was way past his prime here and looked like shit. Pretty much everyone has acknowledged that.

That being said, the kick was nice but Jon looked old and slow, just not as old and slow as Stipe. I will give Jon credit for being crafty. He has been like that his whole career; Cant deny that.
