Went swimming in that lake 1989 with a real mix of friends, three young Drs, an SAS reservist and a classical musician. Can’t remember seeing any warning signs then😂

Thanks for sharing this great video, loved the story about the lady of the lake. I can’t stop marvelling how Winston just keeps wanting more and more walking , it sometimes looks as though he could out walk you. That said you do some spectacular walks and hikes. Take care 👍
In his younger days, Winston could easily out walk me. 10-15mile hikes were just a stroll in the park for him, and since he's always off lead he would probably end up doing closer to 20miles 😅 These days I try to keep the walks shorter for him, but that doesn't stop up from having an adventure 😀

We get that sort of weather here on Exmoor - 3 seasons in a day! Beautiful views from the top overlooking the lake and a lovely river to walk besides. Winston rarely seems to run out of energy, himself or his tail 😅
I think Winston's tail acts as his own generator giving him an endless supply of energy 😅

When we were in the UK last month, staying in a rental in Leicestershire, we had a lot of hail. Not fun when out on a walk. LOL

What is it with you and directions, lol. I think you need to leave a trail of breadcrumbs back to the van.
Seriously though, Winston seems to be coping well with the walks.
I was following a trail, and the trail went over the stream 😅 I thought there would be a little bridge or stepping stones, but there was nothing, so we just walked through 😅 We got back in one piece, although a little wet 😅

@@Roz.S OK, Roz. Let you off 👍. Just out of curiosity, do you carry a map or GPS? I know you can't always rely on getting a signal to use maps on your phone.
@@matthewvaughan6327 Just use my phone. Even if I lose signal, the GPS on the maps still works. And I take a powerbank for back up battery. I only ever go off track when I wander about without checking where I'm going 😅 I can use a map and compas but I'm not a fan of them; they go out of date, can be fiddly, no good in wind and rain etc.

I assume whenever you're filming and hiking you have to be careful what command words you might accidentally say for Winston's safety or am i just paranoid 😅
I don't have to worry about what I say (he knows when I'm talking to him and when I'm not) but I do have to be careful of my body language. For example, if I turn around to film and take a step forward, Winston thinks that we're changing direction and so he will quickly run that way. Sometimes, this can confuse him as to which track we are following. Other than that, he's no problem.

I did wonder why she needed three hits before leaving; surely once is enough. But this was from a different time where men were allowed to hit their wives.

I think there would’ve been a lot more equipment there if it was a water treatment area.
