I have lots of backup bottles. Fragrances are constantly either discontinued or reformulated. They’re easy enough to sell if you change your mind, but hard to get if you later want more.
I have backups for:

In my opinion, even if your tastes change in a few years, those tastes come back! And you’ll be so glad you have an old favorite. Especially something so iconic, imo

I have few. Manifesto, Alien, Burberry body, Burberry Brit EDT, Lady Million, Jour d'Hermes absolu, Narciso edp and poudree, Narciso Rodriguez for her EDT and l'absolu....ok I'll stop there.
Burberry Body is so underrated!
My only backups are Si Le Parfum & vintage Coco Chanel from 86 & 87. If discontinued/hard to find & a real love back ups are good idea 🤩
I don’t have as much perfumes as most on RUclips but it looks like I do just because I do have backups of my favorites. I don’t regret it either. Because these that I have keep selling out online so I’m glad I have them 💗 I’m on a no buy until I use some up. All of my perfumes are stored in 2 small wooden trunks, I have one on my dresser and one on my vanity . I keep them out of light. I don’t display them. I want them to last.
Backups of Russian tea, illuminum piper leather, guerlain cologne du 68, lanvin oxygene, Esteban Baume tolu, shl un nuit a dohA, nicolai Balkan leather and vie de chateau, frank olivier oud touch. More than I thought!. 🥰
This is a great reason to buy a backup. You use it a lot and it's on the way out.
My only backup is kissing by Kilian. The line has been discontinued and I really love the scent!

I have only one backup bottle. Kenzo flower L’elixer. I love it so much and I couldn’t bear not having another bottle of it! I will cry once I can’t find it anymore 😭 since it’s been discontinued.
I got a backup of KKW Pear & Peony &recently & I’m glad I did because a few days later shipping to Australia seems to have ended. Shipping Weight regulations etc. & I can’t get add to cart anymore.I Love the scent. I have mini backup bottles of Kayali Vanilla 28 & a Large backup of Kayali Deja vu white flower. The mini Kayali bottles are an affordable way to try the Kayali range.
I have only one as well. It’s Elie Saab Le Parfum. I heard it was being discontinued- not sure how true that is but it freaked me out and I had to get a backup. I just love the orange blossom in it and I feel like I can never be without it.
I am in my 60s and have seen many discontinuations and reformulations.
I have many backups and no regrets.
Your taste may change but you will crave what you once loved. I would rather spend money on backup fragrances I love rather than something new just to have a larger collection. Those are the purchases you will regret 😊

I have back up bottles of L'Air du Ciel by Nina Ricci Limited release from 2019, The only one intense, Girl of Now, La Vie Est Belle Intensément,and Secret Desire by Antonio Banderas .
I either find fragrances for a very good deal and buy multiples. Or if they are some of my favorites I like to have them on hand. Fragrances are discontinued so quickly these days.
My backups are: Burberry Body, N. Rodriguez for Her EDT and Absolu, Mugler Angel Muse, Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline, Dior Addict, and Baccarat Rouge 540.
Thank you for sharing your fragrance and perspective. I do have backup bottles of some fragrances that I love. I believe I got backups because of QVC's auto delivery options. As I continue to expand my fragrances I realized I had to cut that out😁 but YOLO 🙂

I love this fragrance so much! I'm also thinking of getting a back up bottle of Dolce Vita by Dior, preferably a 100 ml bottle because even though I 've been wearing it since 1997 I can't get enough of it.
My only backup perfume is Cinema by YSL

I have backups of 4 perfumes: Rose Gourmand by Zara (because it's constantly selling out), and Dua clones of Don't Be Shy, Angels' Share and Spiritueuse Double Vanille. I've run through those because I am obsessed so they are definitely getting used.

Hugo Boss Orange Sunset - smelt it years ago in my youth and fell in love instantly. In hindsight it’s a genetic smelling orange musky long discontinued and I can find similar in Atelier Cologne etc. Still love it though. Also YSL Nu - deep dark sexy again sadly discontinued & still my all time favourite!
i’m SUPER picky about perfume, and tend to stick to the same fragrances as my tastes don’t change that much. so, when i love something, i get a back-up bottle or two 😊

Yeah i only have 1 back up and its Alien Essence Absolue. I got my first bottle 2 or 3 yrs ago, and then i think it was early last yr that i found out it was being discontinued so i quickly found a bottle online for what i thought was a decent price. ( At least considering it wasnt going to be sold anymore.) I believe it was $130 for 2 oz. But just 2 or 3 months later i saw the same size for $275!! Crazy. So glad i got it when i did! I really do love it. 😊
$275??? Oh my!! I regret getting rid of mine some years ago...now it's just completely out of reach :(
Oh yeah! It’s more expensive now. I sold mines too and now it’s almost impossible to find.😢 I’ve seen it for $380 but I’m not gonna pay that price tag.
@@rosanybaker8209 Holy crap!! I dont think ANY perfume is worth that much! There are so many great ones!! Also i think a perfume company that clones perfumes just made a clone of this one. Juliannas Perfume maybe? Im sure Be Layered will make one soon as well. Hopefully theyre just as good!

I really enjoyed this video concept - thank you for sharing your backup-worthy scents! If you know you love and will use the fragrance (and you have the $ and space to store), I see no issue with owning backup bottles! Especially if it’s a brand that is known for discontinuing fragrances often. I recently purchased a back up of Zara’s Rose Marshmallow Candy and I also have a backup of Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia. 🥰

You can have as many backups as you like! I too have backups of Alien l'Eau Extraordinaire, I've got my open 30 ml bottle + 2 x 60 ml bottles waiting to be loved. As it is discontinued, I just might get another one!!

my back up is arden white tea and l'imperatrice and j.lo still and sjp lovely..🤣😄 they are my "calm me down" companions. and in these trying times, i need a lot of those.
I have backup bottles of all of the Olympea flankers - except the blossom one as it does not have the original Olympea DNA. I also have a backup of some of my Guerlain perfumes.
I'm trying to backup only 2 different perfumes of my favorites since I’ve decided to downsize my perfume collections. The one reason that I backup perfume is that the perfume houses change their formula once a while. I’m not sure if I would still love the scents after they do that. For example, I used to LOVE LOVE Dior White poison, but I stopped repurchasing it because the formula has been changed a lot.
I have a backup of Mon Guerlain Edt, since it's discontinued. I also have a back up of Tender Romance by Ralph Lauren.
I have 4 backup bottles: Marc Jacobs Decadence, Gucci Bamboo, Van cleef and arpels bois doré, and Lancôme Magnolia Rosae. I wanted to get Givenchy Dahlia Divin Le Nectar, but then I got Mon Guerlain and it quenched my thirst for this vibe of fragrance. My only concern is that I may not end up using them up before they turn bad 🙈
I have back up of Creed Spring Flower 🌸, Issey Miyake L’eau EDT, Armani Ocean Gioia.

The only opinion that matters regarding back up bottles, is the person shelling out the cash for said bottle.
Funny, I just got a bottle of Alien Eau Extrordinaire today. It has been on my wish list for a long time, but just kept putting off picking it up. Now that it is officially discontinued, I thought I should pick up a bottle before it disappears.
I have a handful of backup bottles, all are favourite fragrances that I was able to get the second bottle for an amazing price and the fragrance is either reformulated or discontinued (or I thought it was when I purchased). I have a few Mugler back ups, both Angel and Alien and Alien Essence Absolu (all pre-reformulation). I also have Girl of Now Shine and Forever (got them for $20 each), D&G L'Imperatrice (also very cheap) and M By Mariah Carey (old formulation).
Yes, no harm in having backups of some of your faves :D

Fils de Dieu is one that I want to get a backup bottle of. That scent is so lovely! But there's something about it that makes me too shy to wear it in public. So I tell myself that my 30ml is enough to last a long time if I only wear it inside.

Im massive about backup bottles.....if I adore a fragrance Im devastated if it becomes discontinued or reformulated. So I aim for, where I can, 2 or 3 x 100ml backups plus the bottle Im using of my absolute favs. I don't feel its a waste of money rather good use of money if it makes me very happy.

Hey. I was so into buying eau extraordinaire 30ml but as I was hesitating it got sold out. And now I see your video and I want it again. I only know original alien and flora futura. I like flora futura more but it still smells like plain alien in the drydown. How about eau extraordinaire? Which one is better light blue or eau extraordinaire?

I used to wear one fragrance only every day for years and it was discontinued. The only reason I have become obsessed with perfume is because I was in search of a new signature scent to replace that one. Times have changed and I don’t think I could go back to a single scent.
Now that I have so many perfumes I don’t think I need backup bottles except in rare circumstances. I’ve noticed my taste has changed and I assume it will continue to evolve.
I almost bought a backup of Zara vetiver pamplemouse because I love it so much and I don’t think it will be around much longer. Then I remind myself that there are so many grapefruit perfumes I haven’t tried and when this one is gone I’d maybe want to try a different one. I don’t need multiple grapefruits that will compete for my attention. I’m trying to control myself and not just buy everything that sounds good, even when I know I like it.
I do have a backup of angel muse because I don’t know anything like it - there is no substitute - and I thought it was being discontinued ( though I still see it everywhere)

@@DeliciousDelights it was a celebrity scent 🤣 - queen latifah - a very sweet vanilla cognac that sat close to the skin. Got lots of compliments.
Until recently I was super allergic to perfume (I don’t understand why I’m not anymore). This one was a gift and the first perfume I found I could wear without getting a headache. It’s still out there but more expensive than I’m willing to pay for a questionable bottle.
Alien has been my signature scent for years. And most of its flankers smell nice. It's sad that some of them are discontinued. I finished my backup bottle of original Alien (the one before it was reformulated) and I bought a new one and it left me disappointed. It smells nothing like Alien I knew and loved. So I definitely won't buy a backup bottle. And I guess I will have to find new signature scent.
The only backup I have bought is Alien Fusion, just recently due to the discontinuation and it actually got sold out on two discount sites. I picked up an “unboxed” on a third site for a good price. Related, I’ve placed an order for Rouge Malachite on back order. I’m hopeful, but I know it might not happen. Why are they both now discontinued! It’s very similar DNA but to me better than Fusion.
I recently rebought Florabotanica by Balenciaga in 100 ml, because nothing smells quite like it. Seeing all Balenciaga’s wonderful frags getting discontinued, I might buy their Paris one too. They were all made by a master, Oliver Polge who since is exclusively hired by Chanel.

My backup bottle is Killians Princess. However I am thinking of getting a backup bottle of Aliens Eau Extraordinaire as well. Like you said it’s getting discontinued and it’s a great scent.

I am on a NO buy now because I have purchased a lot of backup bottles because so many gems are being discontinued or reformulated and so far, I don’t see any improvement in the formlations. My bank account has suffered, so I have to stop. I have only gotten into perfumes in the past year.
My question for you is, has it always been this way or is LVMH, L’Oréal and the IFRA just ruining things in particular, now. I am sorry. Cigarettes are not illegal but we have to be protected and warned about fragrance. Give me a break!!!!??!
Backups are not worth it when your collection grows, it's a waste. I've learned it the hard way and now I'm trying to get rid of them, successfully 🙌
