My 2001 and 2 2007 vans have clean shifting and seemingly trouble free transmission. My Patriot has the shit Chinese Jatco CRV that dies @ 80 to 150k. But it is still operating at 98k cleanly with few overheats. Maybe because it has the trail rated package, towing and a large cooler.
Their newer automatic transmissions are very good. Even the older 4 speed in the Jeep is good, if you put a transmission cooler on it. I've got several buddies with those and they've been trouble free, each with over 100,000 miles on it.
Lots of hate on these engines because they are chrysler... but they are proving to be reliable as hell ... as long as you maintain them... check out the video of a 3.6 going 625,000 before the chains let go ... inside no or hardly any wear
Because most people are idiots and believe everything they hear. Much of the hate perpetuated over the years by the domestic product hating MSM. A US automaker has a recall and the MSM hypes it up to an end of the world event, yet you don't hear a peep about the foreign makers recalls and believe me, they have them. For example, many Hyundai engines are blowing up needing replacement under 25K but you don't hear anything about that from the MSM of the foreign car fanboys. The 3.6L engine is a fine engine.
My 22 gladiator didn’t even make it 5000 miles before a rocker arm broke. Warranty covered everything but sure put a bad taste in my mouth for these engines.

I wonder how many different jobs on the assembly line these folks are trained to do? Do they go to the same station every day, or does it get Shaked up a lot?
Wonder if they ever fixed the head problem? The Mrs. has the Jeep JK & in less than 30k miles the left head need to be replaced. Not much longer after that replacement, the right head needed to be replaced. That was just the start! Few months later, the main computer went. That took 6-7 weeks to replace. The Mrs. still loves her Jeep & said would never have anything else to drive.
Yes they did. They had two different engineers on the heads, 1 for left and 1 for right. The left engineer's head had restricted cooling jackets at the center cylinder (4) causing and overtemp in that area.
When you see what was done back in the 1930's and 40's, it in stark contrast to how comfortable these Union workers have got it. When your Grandpa and Grandma really worked a good days work, these modern workers have it WAY too easy.
That sad face on the flywheel really gives me the creeps. Chrysler engineers attention: reverse those cutouts and you will have a happy engine with a smile and eyebrows. Please.
Can you help me i have a 2019 Dodge Journey 2 3.6L Burns e-85 & Dodge tells me it can only tow 1,000LBS. Because the trainy. Can only tow that much. I 💘 love the engine. Can you help a disabled veteran out please. This is my 3rd. Journey would not have to go to Ford for good towing. Just got it is there any way to beaf ☝ up the trainy?🇺🇸
100 lb for the 4-cyl, 2500 lb for the V6. I wouldn't hesitate to tow a light load, but I'd keep my speed at 55 mpg or below, use the gears wisely, and avoid any significant climbing. I'd add a transmission cooler if it doesn't have one. The Grand Cherokee has a transmission oil cooler even if without the tow package, so maybe Journey is the same.
I noticed that too! (Robot going CCW before CW) Congratulations on the mileage of your Jeep! I just got a '23 Wrangler 3.6 and have been researching, hearing good and not so good. From what I've read, the ultimate key is timely oil changes. What, if any, do you have to offer in the name of advice or cautions, for your engine to last so long ?

That plastic oil filter housing under the intake is garbage, it will leak very soon, replace them all the time 2 or 3 a week some dealerships do about 90 a month.
I can here the Tic Tic now ,God don't miss my 2016 T&C with that stupid motor,by 76k miles had 8 rockers,4 rods, complete cooling system replaced..which had to take back because thermostat was stuck, they broke bleed screw on thermostat housing glued it on,brought it back again..all warranty work performed by"Trained" Technicians .How so many people have good luck with this motor I will never know.
Does anyone know of a phone number I can get a hold of to ask a question that I’ve ask other professional and they don’t have a clue. My big question is are all these engines by Mopar or Pentastar the same fit to the engine block like from the 2.7/3.5/ now the 3.6 can fit a later model of dodge.
Too bad they can't fix the oil filter housing from leaking oil all over the place, redesigned it many times, but they STILL keep using plastics which warp over time, UGGGH
They change up roles frequently. They work on teams and can switch jobs within the teams. Some people like jobs where they build things. I know people who love assembly jobs. I'm glad they do. The folks who built my Jeep did a great job. 10 years old and 118,000 miles of reliable fun, and it still looks and drives like new.
Working on any assembly line sucks. Mind numbing work. I worked an assembly job for two years and that was enough for me. But I worked on a computer assembly line so there really wasn't much opportunity for any significant switching of roles or assembly jobs. It was all the same thing.
Everybody knows the transmission is the weak spot on any Chrysler, they seem to not have a problem producing bulletproof engines they should be trying to do the same with the transmission because every other part of my last Chrysler went damn near half 1,000,000 miles but it took three transmissions to do it
The 3.6L Pentastar engine is a piece of junk. Just spent 3000.00 to replace rocker arms and one camshaft. Also just replaced the oil filter housing cooler assemble. Another 500.00. Check Don Trail post below.
I believe they have the potential to make a great engine but let’s keep it real, the 3.6L Pentastar ain’t all that. You can see plenty of videos here on youtube with people explaining and showing their issues with these engines.
I'm Mopar or no car but this is a terrible engine. The oil cooler is in a terrible location and built with the wrong materials, they use plastic fuel rails, do I need to get into the rocker arm issue? Hundreds of these engines destroyed from low-quality rockers. (Lawsuits galore). I've had my pentastar apart 4 times. Twice for rocker arms (the second time I just replaced them all), the oil cooler and two coils. You literally have to take the upper intake off to get the plugs out. I've also had to replace the thermostat. The motor mounts as well but that really isn't the engine. All within 100,000 mi. Absolute garbage engineering with this engine. If you're going to buy a Chrysler in this generation of cars, opt for the 2.4 (very good engine), or a 5.7 hemi. You'll come back here and thank me. Trust me Google pentastar tick. That's all you need to know
And this engine right here... all V6 Charger/Challenger Owners think it's better than a 6.4L Hemi because they can install a pedal commander + intake and E85 tune and assume their piece of sht can go over 200MPH LMAO
Bought a 2018 Pacifica and it is by far one of the best vehicles I've ever owned, love it!
Imagine the hundreds of thousands of hours of design and construction needed to make this grand metallic ballet work.
The plant is so quiet and clean.
The future is here and now I understand why my Chrysler engine made 300,000 miles without a burp. Almost like science fiction brought to life.
Too bad their transmissions don't make it very long!

Good motors! Easy to work on .
Really? Google reports of infamous ticking sounds and head issues would disagree.
Shid the hell if it is easy to work on.
Indeed. I loved my 3.6. The oil filter location made basic maintenance so easy.
