1:10 an issue with starting on a 125 such as the Grom is that they need to ridden at full throttle to go normal speeds (depending on your weight, a Grom will max out somewhere in the 50s and at most 60, and there a multiple streets with 50 mph limits). So you end up developing habits that will be bad when you get on a bigger bike.
It needs to be at least 175cc's. full throttle just to do city limits at all times. Needs to be able to do city & freeway speeds without having to ring it's neck 100% of the time
I'd get a used, Japanese 250-450cc dualsport...WR250R, KLX250S, CRF250L, or even a DR-Z400S. Take a BRC, get your M license, then ride dirt for a bit before venturing out into traffic. I don't even like riding in city traffic, and I ride a lot of dirt and I gear up...helmet, armored pants, armored gloves, armored jacket, boots, and chest/back-protector. I can throw a 400lb DR650 around in rutted, rooted, rocky, muddy, sandy singletrack, and I still don't like riding in city traffic. Cagers are distracted...and nuts. I'd rather take my chances around turkeys and deer, so I try to stay out of city traffic on motos. In just the last month, I've witnessed 2 cages sideways and bouncing off dividers/cages at 80MPH, and then...disintegrated, on my 50-mile I94 commute to Chicago. One must have rolled about 8 times, after ping-ponging off at least 2 other cages.

That's why I think they should cram the rebel 300 engine into all the mini motos and sell them all as 5speed 125 and 6 speed 250. That way I can actually get a Grom over the couple hills to get into town without going below the speed limit haha. A tiny Grom with the rebel 300 shoved in it would rip
how crazy would it be to put a kick start on this?.. I mean, do people do that?.. is that a thing for new bikes in general?.. I will be a new rider and I like old style stuff, and a kickstart sure would be gnarly.
I live in wv and I have a 2020 honda monkey Ive gone up the mountain in 3rd gear and she will do 40mph up it and I weigh 240 lbs. Flats I can see 55 56 mph
Rebel is electronally limited. My guess is due to the lack of dual disk up front so they don't want the liability of someone trying to stop and the brake failing
The 1000 also does 0-60 in a couple seconds.. the grom, 0-60 if you're lucky. Displacement doesn't necessarily equal speed. Mostly acceleration with a little extra top end.. my rebel 250 can break 80 on a good day but it's not gonna get there quick.
Displacement doesn't equal power. Power doesn't equal speed.Tuning does. A turbo Busa makes WAY more power than a relaxed 1300cc V-twin cruiser, and it has the gearing, brakes, suspension, geometry, and tires attuned to better handle that power. A naturally-aspirated 600cc (0.6L) supersport makes over 200HP/L, at over 120HP total. My DR650 thumper makes about 42HP total. So...A DR650 makes about 42HP at the crank. A KTM690E is similar displacement, and thumper configuration, yet it makes about 70HP at the crank. The DR is tuned milder, and may have a longer stroke. The compression ratio, cam profile, valve size, intake flow, exhaust flow, and head flow can make a big difference in engine character and output. Gearing can affect top-end speed and acceleration too. So can aerodynamics, traction, and handling. Geometry may not allow all that power to get to the ground either. My 42HP DR power-lofts the front in 1st and 2nd. It would flip over backwards if I didn't modulate the throttle. A tuned 690E will loft the front in the first 7 gears. It only comes with 6.
@@RKmndo displacement doesn't equate to final power but displacement dictates a parameter for power. A turbo simulates a large displacement engine environment. Yes tuning can determine figures but fundamentally it does give you a base. A 1 to 1 comparison of a smaller vs bigger engine, the bigger will always make more power

have you ever went to Huntsville Alabama? I'm getting a Honda Grom and a class m license for my 14th birthday and im pretty stoked
Need the yellow with gold forks I’m sure are available after market or get an anodizing kit
I’ve hit 63 on my wife’s 18 model on flat ground with no wind so I don’t know where this 57 number comes from
Headwind and heavy riders will slow you down so that top speed can different from one rider to the next.
how crazy would it be to put a kick start on this?.. I mean, do people do that?.. is that a thing for new bikes in general?.. I will be a new rider and I like old style stuff, and a kickstart sure would be gnarly.
Try a Yamaha SR400.
I had no idea you were there at barber. What a blast.
Seems about the same performance as Allan Millyard's 110 v2.
I skipped this video but it's only because I'm already sold on this new grom
Looking at the blue one, 4600 to 4900 bit crazy.
Is a grom worth it over a Honda Navi I really can’t decide
I got my Honda grom abs candy blue up 65 mph I'm 150 5.5 inches.
Don't forget PDI,Freight and other stuff+taxes=Not 3300 bucks
4995 out the door
It would be cool to see a minimoto shootout. Like a mini-Ike. Compare Grom, Z125, TNT135.
is this ok to ride on the mountain roads? will it get bogged down while 'climbing' up?
I live in wv and I have a 2020 honda monkey Ive gone up the mountain in 3rd gear and she will do 40mph up it and I weigh 240 lbs. Flats I can see 55 56 mph
Definitely slow
So Honda grom goes to about 55 to 60 mph , it’s a 125 cc engine, the rebel 1100 top speed is 100 mph , ironical isn’t it?
Rebel is electronally limited. My guess is due to the lack of dual disk up front so they don't want the liability of someone trying to stop and the brake failing
The 1000 also does 0-60 in a couple seconds.. the grom, 0-60 if you're lucky. Displacement doesn't necessarily equal speed. Mostly acceleration with a little extra top end.. my rebel 250 can break 80 on a good day but it's not gonna get there quick.
Race them and you’ll see where they put that extra power.
A 1 to 1 comparison of a smaller vs bigger engine, the bigger will always make more power
i like the new name you gave it Gro-M
Now I only need to convince the wife that we need one of these things!!
If necessary, obtain new wife or no wife.
Nice work Case!
"Kase"
Great video.. thanks
Brah. Is got an mt09 and ever since i got 1 its the most fun i had lol.
What is the difference between the 2021 and 2022 model?
Im going to get one i will never be going above 60 around where i live so im fine i will e85 tune it if possible
