What i can tell you is, its not the akadama why it doesn't work for you, its you. And when the akadama is too big for you, why the hell you buy the big akadama and not the small one? People who has no success with akadama, mostly don't become big shrimp breeders with other soils. But ada amazonia is a great soil btw. But akadama too. You dont have enough biofilm at the right tank.

No way, Akadama does not bring the ph down enough- only to around 6.5, if you want to pull it down to ideal caridina levels you need Amazonia. All the top breeders use Amazonia for a reason.

@@Condoctuc Blabla. Exact to 6.5 brings akadama the pH. I had it in 10 tanks.

@@MrJinusean90 2-5 mm akadama soil is good ?

What made you switch from akadama . I know akadama is easier to get

@@forresterpaige7767 didn’t work out for me. Akadama doesn’t buffer as well as I’d like it to. High ph and a lot of mysterious deaths made me switch. Ada does release a lot of ammonia but it buffers ph very low and is a lot more consistent

The one I set up this video is from Plamski! The rest of them are from KCaquatics

Yeah I'd never use Akadama with that rock size granules. Also don't like how the color constrats with the shrimp. I use ada amazonia powder and love the small granule size.

how you calculate volume of this box against volume of tank , same with substrate ,what is too much or what not enough , i have for start 10 litres tank how big should this filter box be please ? I though about 9cm x 9cm x9cm and about half liter of substrate ,what U think ?

Oh yeah. You’ll need very little soil for that. I have a 3 gallon tank setup with ugf box and I only used 2 cups of soil in it. Hope this helps. Thx for watching

I was literally going to ask this my sponge filters are tiny compared to this and i was worried mine was too small lol. Ive heard the UGF boxes can get jammed up with debris
