    Thank you for posting this! I know in the comment section a week ago we were talking about this partially so having this full breakdown literally right before i go shop for substrate (this weekend) is really helpful. I took up your advice and will be trying out Vin and SL aqua for bacteria I'll setup 2 tanks and see which I think works better for me. I was curious I know you had a video on your 5 day feeding routine, for someone with a more planted tank do you think I should reduce it to 3 because theres more biofilm available and more plants or should I also continue with 5 days. I am just starting out with "nicer shrimps" (recently got red galaxy fishbones, SS-SSS PRLs, and will hopefully be getting some nicer black fancy tigers) I was curious if I'm only starting off with 10-15 shrimp right now should I also consider a 3 day schedule instead of a 5 day until my colony gets bigger. I found conflicting info on stuff like that, but you've been so helpful I thought I'd shoot my question and hope for an answer

    • @ShrimpTimeInt
      @ShrimpTimeInt  3 года назад +2

      At the beginning of the colony You can feed once a week. Shrimps will feed on biofilm. The feeding time starts when Your femals are ready to be barried and when You get young shrimps. The amount and feeding routin should depend on the colony - how many shrimps are in the tank - more shrimps higher amounts and more often :) With 10 -15 young shrimps they will most likly leave most of the food uneaten :)

      @@ShrimpTimeInt I feel like this is the answer I was looking for thank you I'll start off with feeding once or twice a week and as they get berried I'll go to a 3-5 week schedule thank you for all the info

    Awesome information! Thanks for the video :) have you ever used ADA Africana or Malaya? I have heard that they lower the pH even lower than Amazonia. Malaya being the lowest pH. I currently use Africana in many of my tanks. I hit 5.5-5.8pH in those tanks with a HOB. But I just started up a new shrimp rack with 11 10g tanks cycling with the Africana. It is very hard to obtain the Amazonia right now so it was my only option. Do you run sponges and UFG in the same tank? I bought all these double sponges with media baskets under the intakes for all my tanks. But have done further research and UFG seems the best. :( Is it too late to add them into the tanks as well? Might be a bit crammed. Thanks for making these English videos!

      Hello I read that Africana hold pH higher then regular Ada. Maybe it was miss information. Need to check it up. I run different filtration - solo ufg, ufg+sponge, HOB eaven canister filter. UFG help to lower pH. You can try making little ufg in a little acrylic box.

    I use 1and half inch brightwell pH stays at 5.6 with dual sponge filter and small hob filter. Shrimp are doing great and breeding well. Have fancy red tigers and Taiwan bees and crystal reds in the tanks. GH is 4, Kh is 0 . Crystal reds are doing well but have not started breeding yet I think because of immaturity still. In your experience do crystal reds need higher pH. I read a lot of articles that say they do ?But mine are doing well just not breeding yet but I think it's because of their age!

      Lovely water parameters for Caridinas. There were some theories that normal Caridina - Cristals likes higher pH, but I don't agree my PRL's love low pH. Cristals can do good in higher pH, but I still think 5,5 is optimum.
