What I dread the most during the GST days were the end month reporting that needed to be compiled and submit to the Kastam. Why? As TP said, any mistake done will subject me to the law of fines and even prison. It's stupid as we are collecting money for the government and if for some reason, mistakes made unintentionally will risk my business into paying penalty for it, unless the business is making good money, it wont be a problem but for most businesses who were operating at marginal profits, the damage would be huge. GST is an efficient way to collect money for the government but process which we went thru is inefficient and back firing.

Being a Singaporean, lower income family, full time care giver, GST is very good as it helps the elderly, lower income. Of course the middle class and rich will hate GST. For me, i will be more than happy to see GST hit 15% after all the developed countries are much higher than 8% currently. With GST i have the option to buy what is needed, or even used hp. The govt needed the GST to transfer the wealth. At the same time to go populalist inorder to win since 2011 GE. Back then during that GE, Worker's Party votes are generally 40% + when they face off PAP candidates. While other oppositions gain 20 to 30%. Ever since that great distress, PAP been introducing more and more policies to help the lower income, thanks to covid 19, Russia Ukraine war, US Fed and the high inflation that comes about. Without these benefits, PAP likely to lost even more seats or even the governmentship. Being a voter i of course reciprocate by voting for PAP esp. the oppositions didnt mention their grand plan on how to help the poor except the release of cpf. Seriously cannot be like this right. Vote for you politicians to advance your agenda. Must win win right. PAP is li hai, they are good at keeping promise. I dont know if this work in Msia but you have formidable opponent as in PAS. There is no free lunch in this world, there is no free voting. You know the MP in Singapore earns sgd 16k per mth for 5 years. On top of his or her regular job. Why would i want to vote for a govt that only know how to tax me and keep the pior wages low.

GST can be implemented for companies with annual revenue > 1 Million or > 2 Million. The government has to be efficient in verifying and refunding GST.

@@SSTan-cz7eoYes. Think most businesses with more than 1M revenue should already have a full time account clerk. So the cost should not be that much higher. The requirement for the GST registration can also be set higher at 2M or more.

Would have to watch to understand the full context of this but from this short my take is: BRIM works in a way that people gets to choose what and where they want the money to be spent on. Regardless whether it is groceries, fuel, education etc. Plus, it indirectly contributes to the local economy especially for the luar bandar folks, as people have extra income to spend on. It is a targeted subsidy. Blanket fuel subsidies benefits those people own cars with big engine and those who travels a lot. Who benefited more from blanket fuel subsidies? Folks who own axias and sagas or those who have bmws and merc?
You forget that Blanket fuel Subsidies decrease or maintained the cost of things being transported. Everything being transported depends on the fuel for its price. Even groceries and labour. So it doesn't just benefit people with cars, it also control the cost of living which affect both people with cars and people with no cars.
Wrong. BR1M doesn't help anybody in the long term. In fact short term printing money only increase prices and push up inflation. Subsidizing fuel helps businesses reduce costs. It push down prices and at a time when inflation is high. Also when business cost are reduced, companies have more money to reinvest and hire more people. We should restrict BR1M and subsidize fuel even more than before. It's common sense actually, you print money for consumption it leads to high inflation. You print money for productivity growth, you create less inflation. It's funny hearing these politicians speaking. They speak as if they are so intelligent when the truth is they are clueless. They can't see beyond short term planning.
@@ngoloterry276 No they don't. Not that I am aware of. And furthermore BR1M is far more damaging than fuel subsidy. Just need to tell rakyat the actual truth,
Aiyah Tony you are no longer in politics so why not just be honest and say it as it is. The decision to abolish GST was based on what was the most convenient and logical thing to do from a political perspective when PH came to power. 1. GST was implemented and impossed by BN led by Najib. PH campaigned heavily on abolishing GST. So obviously need to consider the above. 2. The implementation was screwed up with massive issues on both the tax payer and tax collectors end. 3. This was due not due to GST being a complex system but piss poor ability of the Malaysian public service when it comes to planning and implementing and executing public policies. They will pick a proposal that comes with a ministers recommendation and expect reality to bend backwards to fit the plan instead of devising a plan that takes into account implementation and enforcement abilities. So GST roll out saw many small businesses just close shop than go stand inline at the LHDN counters to speak to an officer who is so clueless and out of touch with reality. 4. Than there was the massive swell of anger among the private business owners who by than had not seen a refund in 6 months and had begun to refuse collecting or paying GST. The 19 billion story. 5. Finally there was the Zimbabwean levels of epic financial scandals and outright looting of public funds PH inherited from 40 years of Mahathirism. Literally every facet of governance was operating a get rich scheme. PH didnt have immediate sollutions to fix a badly planned implementation nor was there a capacity to resolve the refund processes that was abandoned by Najibs administration and had practically grinded to a standstill for 6 over months by than. So the most logical thing to do as a politician is not what is best for the nation but whats politically expedient at that moment. Abolish GST
Gst is the main key point why government had changed. Imaging they didnt fulfil it, i dont think can hold more than 6 months. See those ppl criticising for those small2 issue, u know u cant ignore to abolish GST
GST if properly implemented is the fairest broadest tax system...the problem then, was because of 1MDB was draining the government finances, the LHDN was not giving rightful refunds to eligible businesses. Surely if Singapore and all the OECD and many other countries including China can have it, why not Malaysia. Tony is WRONG here.
Tony did not say that GST was wrong to implement. Only that it is not the right time for Malaysia. Maybe in the future when the country is more developed, just like the OECD countries.
True. There are some SME that have local sales and also export , unable to get back their refund of RM20,000 to 50,000 until today, if not mistaken. Main problems is the civil servants in LHDN play dirty games to cheat the PH government and cause many misunderstanding.

Malaysians will never admit this, especially PH voters but the biggest mistake we made was toppling a steady hegemonic government that was in power for 60 years. The economy has not recovered. PH and Malaysia Madani have no idea how to run a country. Good opposition but bad as a government. Tony Pua and gang are a big reason for this.
Both govt also screwed up the nation Dumno is for sure the main culprit for 60 years, Pakatan head also does not have the courage to do the right thing for the nation. The direction of the nation is not set right yet.
So neighbour Singapore must be doing the wrong thing but prospering by it? Its not abt taxes, taxes r just collection for the govt to use on the right thing. Question is whether the govt of the day use the taxes properly, correctly...uncorruptedly.

U made the right point of arguement. But u have to understand also GST is the most lazy way to collect taxes.

Ever since that great distress, PAP been introducing more and more policies to help the lower income, thanks to covid 19, Russia Ukraine war, US Fed and the high inflation that comes about. Without these benefits, PAP likely to lost even more seats or even the governmentship. actually I'm still scratching my head as to what the difference between GST and SST was. Also, I fully agree the decision to suddenly do away with GST was very very bad. Would have to watch to understand the full context of this but from this short my take is:
BRIM works in a way that people gets to choose what and where they want the money to be spent on.
@@Xanthosis012 dont they have further subsidies for that segment of business (transport), diesel i think.
Fuel subsidy can lead to productivity growth but BR1M will only lead to higher inflation. It's common sense, printing money for consumption without any productivity growth will lead to high inflation. But all of our politicians lack common sense.
@@secrets.295 The idea of targeted subsidies and 'BRIM', is basically to help the poorer segment of society economically. This is consistent with fairness by giving equal opportunity to those who need it in competition with those better endowed.

Only 1 country reversed its decision backwards, ie Malaysia.
GST began by the French government, after their successful Revolution to democratise poltics and also taxation based on consumption.
There are baseline food consumption that are exempted from this tax so that the B40 are not further improverised.
The more you spend, the more you pay taxes, Fair enough?
Pandai ke Bodoh?😅😂
Now Gomen dah takde duit.
Former IGP had said Malaysia's underground/ Grey economies are worth Billions ! Who owned these companies? Mainly non malays.
So they dont want a transparent taxation system, where the Government can track their income inputs and outputs and chains of related businesses. So they lobbied via DAP, 1+1 = 3, all of them wins, except Rakyat and funds for the poor Rakyat.
Even the stupid TunM was swayed by them.
I think I went bankrupt because of Gst.
1 Malaysia Tau GST Bagus Untuk Negara, Mcm Mana Dia Boleh CAKAP Menghapuskan GST Adalah Keputusan Yang Betul?
funny he complains gst you have to do so much checking, but sst doesn't have to? it's simpler? simple so better? after creating sst, so many more tax types are added, all these no checking required? This Joker Pua.
Are you a businessman or a salaried worker ?. Seems like you are a wage earner. You don't understand the problem the small businesses suffer under GST.
@@chiajoemsnbusinessman idiots like you don’t like paying taxes . No wonder you don’t like gst
@@chiajoemsnnever mind. Just care about your business dont need to care about country debt or financial problems now reaching rm1.5trillion. Sales rm500k per year a little bit hassle on tax become such a big problem. Money not enough is it. Ok next time dont complain previous or current government cannnot manage economy. The problem is because the rakyat themselves dont want to help recover country's burden. It is ours or rakyat's fault.

So how does other first world country make things better with gst.
Tony is bloody bustard on getting rid of GST. All countries adopt GST as it’s more structured than SST. That’s why even DAP ousted him out
Malaysia has such promising and talented people like the two gentlemen who are of great value to the government and country. Sadly, they are not valued as much and deployed to maximise their talent and capability in government. Perhaps they can find their own success or niche in the private sector like CEO GRAB Anthony Tan or CEO AIRASIA Tony Fernandez. They can be more happy and wealthy in the process, though a loss to the government and the people. The country can be great if it practises meritocracy and equality.
Talented yes.. they made their argument i accept that.. i believe more in those who had won nobel prize winners in economics.. there's a reason why the whole world adopts GST/VAT... the advantages GST far outweighs the argument they represent..
Duit boleh 8 pintu sana ?
Good explanation
They are talking politics not real benefits to the country… just so you are wondering
Tony Pua and this other guy are praising targeted subsidies. Are they not aware that targeted will eventually become so stringent that no one will benefit. Its another way for non transparency. Just like the targeted e wallet where so many people rejected without explanation. Anything that says targeted you know eventually you will be left out of the target group.
Face the fact. GST works. Just ensure it is done correctly. Malaysia came tumbling when PH took over. 22 months was wasted by them on pin-pointing mistakes of previous government rather than driving the Country forward. They are good at being an Opposition as a Check and Balance Party, but not good at Governing. 'Formulas' also didn't work. Most people can 'talk' but not all people knows how to 'walk the talk'. Wasted my vote.
Yes wasted my vote with Anwar also second time around
It would be fantastic if Tony becomes prime Minister with Dr. M as finance Minister. Malaysia would become first world country like US.
he himself is rich....hahaha cleaning the 1MDB MESS... What about the terowong scandal.... nobody dares to speak up
Don't touched tokong project😊
Facts: 1MDB scandal is proven and Najib is jailed. Terowong case is ongoing and not proven yet.
Terowong scandal is in court. Talk about facts please.
You tube satu Dunia hahaha
lol, tony pua, the guy who literally compared the value of having HSR with government giving free fight ticket to everyone? LMAO. this guy clearly knows nothing about what he's talking about.
As if this Pony Tua is a tax expert. GST has been certified by financial experts worldwide
u need to create the systems and infrastructures to collect these taxes; they do not drop from the sky.
is there a good time to introduce gst? when the economy is good? when the govt's rating is at a high? nah
Politicians wouldnt impose a tax when the economy is on the uptick because it will damage their chances of securing another term in the coming elections.
@@theallseeingeye9388 the timing must be right too; the best is the early or mid-term.
can they afford to wait? they need money to improve the company too.
Former means abandoned and incompetent
Hahah Deceive Action Party
Pui DAP. Tony Pui.
Blockchain might enable GST to be implemented with less issues 😅😅
Talk about the myr restricted currency what it means n the role of Spore govt in sucking the blood out of the myr
Not con job talk do justice for the myr
Last time PH championed to get rid of GST,now gomen wants to implement GST back. So,now going back to their own words? Haiyaaa..ckp tak serupa bikin.🤣🤣🤣
😮
For GST. to work, the devil is in the detail.
Why need refund?no need to collect is far away better!😅
Without GST, cartel and middle men will increase prices slowly each month.
But most people fail maths and lazy to calculate. They rather cartel slow slow tipu (SST) them.
We all experience that after GST abolished, prices increase here and there.
GST is a repeated tax at each transaction point that needs to be refunded at the end of it.
@@theallseeingeye9388 Yes that prevented those cartels and middle men profiteering by increasing prices each month.
With SST , Slow Slow Tipu, we all pay more just like today. Thanks to SST, the rich got richer.
PLus next year tax 10% online overseas purchase.
All these are BS.
Tony just want to keep his rich friends happy.
