- Fly away on a gentle breeze of music and inspiration! Soarin' Over California is an exhilarating simulated hang-glider flight over California's famous natural and manmade wonders.
Feel your feet dangle free as you are suspended up to approximately 45 feet in the air. You're immersed inside a high-speed Omnimax film projected all around you on a massive 80-foot domed screen. Your flight is accompanied by calming movement and a tranquil musical soundtrack.
The journey begins as the foggy clouds of San Francisco part to reveal the crimson expanses of the Golden Gate Bridge. From there you explore picturesque locations including Yosemite National Park, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, San Diego harbor, Malibu at dusk and the frenetic lights of downtown Los Angeles. Return to the Disneyland Resort for a triumphant flight over Disneyland Park and up into a burst of fireworks.
No matter your age, you'll be unable to resist smiling on this pleasant journey filled with excitement, wonder and awe-inspiring vistas.
One of the most unforgettable aspects of Soarin' Over California is the serene and dramatic musical score. The music was written and recorded for the attraction by Academy Award®-winning composer Jerry Goldsmith. Inspired by the optimistic spirit of California, the magnificent score is one of the master musician's final works and the culmination of a 5-decade career.
Make sure to catch the Wings of Fame and Legends of Flight exhibits inside the main queue. The photographic displays celebrate the daring and genius of the aircraft and people who made California a pioneer in the history of manned flight.

Who else, when hearing this, relives riding this ride at night, towards the end of your Disney trip? Perhaps a bit damp from grizzly river run. Maybe a bit exhausted from a long day. A little sad and nostalgic because your Disney trip is about to end, but still happy that you have a few more rides to go. Who thinks of all that?
I went on this 15+years ago as a child and too this day it is one of my fondest memories ❤❤ thanks for the trip down memory lane.
This ride is one of my favorites! Still, the Radiator Springs ride holds the title for best ride in Disneyland!
PLEASE don't ever take down this clip! I love the Soarin Around the World ride but as a Cali native I will definitely miss the original and this clip keeps my memories alive 😆😆😆

I'm mad they replaced this with Soarin' Around he World. It should have stayed Soarin' Over California since the the ride was in California Adventure. Just keep it California Themed.

I agree! I feel like if they really wanted to change it, it seemed like a great idea to change the Florida one, where the California theme is out of place already. It seemed like a good idea to change Florida's, but changing California's was just the stupidest thing they could have done.

@@woodystorey As a Conservative Republican I absolutely agree with you that California's politics is horrible, and it screws up the rest of the country in so many ways. However, Disneyland with my family was one of my favorite childhood memories. The Redwood Forest is also nice. If it weren't for the political garbage, California would be an amazing state. Still not as good as Alaska though ;).

At Disney's California Adventure, Soarin' Around the World it is or was quite similar to the Skyway Gondola ride.
We ride this every time we go
I’m so sad I couldn’t enjoy this ride :( I was around 19 when I got on it and I suffered a major panic attack while on it :( as soon as it was over I ran to the bathroom across from the ride and just balled my eyes out 😪 even watching this video makes my palms sweat 😪
Why did they change it? This was my favorite ride! It was in "California Adventure" They shouldn't have changed the name (or ride) I will miss that feeling of the golf ball hitting my face ;(

+Smoke screen It should be a fun and worthy replacement. Honesty there isn't much in the existing ride that's exclusive to California (really just the golden gate bridge and DL) so it be too far fetched to think about replacing it with iconic locations from around the world

I heard that they turned Paradise Pier into the worst replacement Pixar Pier and they said they will keep that forever. And plus this version of soarin came back in both 2019 and 2020 and they should keep at least one California themed ride in CALIFORNIA adventure. And they should bring back both California Screamin’ and Paradise Pier in 2021 for California Adventure’s 30th anniversary

I rode that ride in Epcot and in DCA either and I rather prefer the one in EPCOT as it can be considered to be a better 4D experience specially because of the different smells there are.

+HPArrow 0999 I prefer the DCA version over Epcot's anyway. I've ridden Epcot's many many times and have never enjoyed it. There is lacking of theming in Florida's and is very bare. Also back in the spring DCA had Soarin' over California's screen fixed and made it 24fps and 4K. I'm sure Florida is doing that right now.

I WAS IN THE FIRST ROW AND I WAS CRYING THE WHOLE TIME BECUZ I HAD NO IDEA HOW FAR AWAY FROM THE GROUND WAS. But I still had a great time for the rest f the day...

Not really, it's pretty peaceful and relaxing. And with soarin around the world it's actually breath taking

No, these are all live shot with a special type of plane, but the only use of any green screen would likely be the hanglider that flies by you in Yosemite
