Fitzroy Lions vs Brisbane Bears - Round 17, Saturday 17th August 1996. This was the final match played by these two teams before the historic merger forming the Brisbane Lions. With Chris Johnson, Martin Pike and Brad Boyd in action for the Lions, and Roger Merrett, Richard Champion and a young Michael Voss battling for the Bears!
Attendance: 6,469 at Princes Park.

It's painful to remember what happened to my beloved Fitzroy. I wall 11 years old and it hurt so much the last year.
Plus screw the AFL! They throw money at gold coast and get no return for the millions and millions they throw at that team and during this time they let Fitzroy disappear.

I was at this game, the last Fitzroy game I saw.
Terrible the AFL didn't give us a home game to close out, instead of MCG v Richmond and Fremantle in the west.
