Another way to get some support is to start publishing/selling your children's stories and illustrations. You can make them related somewhat to your projects and then people can buy them and the proceeds Go towards that project.
I hope the future renter of this property knows that if there is any damages, about 300K+ people will notice due to watching this series
I hope they try to dig up the concrete pillar in the basement and put it outside as a monument. :)
Rewatching the first few vids of this series put everything in perspective
I come here not only for the craftsmanship, but also the work ethic and general common sense. If you did nothing but talk, I'd still be here. Love that you listed mustard as one of your supplies, complete with an affiliate link! 😂
I agree, his wisdom is far greater than his age. His stories remind me of Will Rogers...I know I'm old but, it's the truth.
Great soundtrack too.
The house is coming along very nicely. Old lady here, I really like how you protect your children and family. Much respect for that.
You are SPOT ON when it comes to your attitude towards phones/electronics and your family...keep it up! My kids are "first gen" electronic kids and they are good kids...but I can see HUGE impact from phones/electronics. My son, when he got in trouble would be a shell of himself on them, and we would "ground him" with removing phone priviledges...and he would IMMEDIATELY become a more attentive, better, nicer human being and interact with us within minutes....we haven't seen the end of what phones/electronics will do to us all....
Tech executives have fired nannys for even using a phone in the sight of their kids. They know.
@@droxyy What new tech has done to us is make people like you comfortable just spreading lies for exactly no reason.
💯
You are setting a good example for your kids and for all of your RUclips subscribers.
I always watch every video till the end. You are 100% correct on the distractions phones can bring. My childhood was awesome due to the lack of said items, you had to use your imagination.
We played outside, built forts, rode bikes, played in the creek. It was an awesome childhood. Keep being yourself and you will never be disappointed.
Same with me. I grew up in the 2000s and might have had the last American childhood. We would spend all summer riding our bikes to the creek to catch animals. Kids these days are cooped up.
@matthew4878 I was 80s and early 90s. I miss those simpler times, but man we did have fun. I'm trying my best to bring my kids up the same way.
Yup same here. We ran and played blocks from home, unsupervised. Until the streetlights came on. We ran or walked everywhere. Few kids were fat or chubby. But even they could run for blocks too.No allergies or ADHD. No play dates ir day care. We were able to make decisions for ourselves and our actions, wether good or bad. Buy Moms spanked with belts if you were bad, so we learned right from wrong and consequences for our actions. If Mom said Im gonna tell your Fad when he gets home from work you really messed up. No kne wanted a slanking from their Dad. There was no blaming others, we were responsible. And we learned self-control and found ways to have fun. Climbing trees, playing baseball in the street inbetween cars. We used tennis balls, so no windows got broke. Red light green light, with a big oak tree for base. Catching lightning bugs in jars. Sledding down any hill in winter. Snow ball fights and snow forts. So much imagination and cooperatively playing with other kids, learning social skills too. Tag your it, and run!
@@The.Real.Reaper right on.
We climbed hills, played in rivers and creeks, climbed trees, sang as we walked the mile home from school, found blackberries and apples to eat off trees/bushes, pretended we were men going off to work and attacked the huge thistles - yep some of it was idyllic
Fatherhood is a blessing from god.Your a great family man.Proud to see how far you have come along in your journey as I have been following your video for a long time.
Thank you. I'm no saint, just aware of my shortcomings and working on them. Thanks for watching.
A small donation is a fair trade for the enjoyment over the years.
Never thought to use mustard to caulk wood. Will have to try...
What I thought as well. Good to know. Ketchup as paint thinner??
Oh he's definately keen!
I always use mayonaise, but to each their own...
I gave up social media about a decade ago, and I don't regret it. I still maintain relationships with the people who matter most, and I don't miss the drama or fact-checking. I own a TV, tho it doesn't get turned on for months. Even so, it's still easy to be distracted by technology these days. I appreciate ur effort to stay grounded.
I felt like I arrived the other day when my 5 year old was rambling away and I heard the key words "mothers day" which made me say what did you say? I had no idea and realized that the reason is that I am not swamped in advertisements for every occasion there is to spend money.
@@homemadehome5575 I wanted to hijack this comment to tell you how much I appreciate your extra time and energy to film this process for us.
I love porch talks! Thanks for sharing the wisdom and common sense very refreshing.
Please don’t ever feel your talks are “too long”, I’ve been watching for years and could still listen to your thoughts all day. Keep it up!
Honey Badger uses mustard bottle for gluing as well. Very clean look, great job. Thanks
It’s nice to see you take fatherhood seriously.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I'm thrilled to see another episode so quickly.
The mustard bottle is funny until one day you’re eating lunch and you bite into a glue sandwich lol
Thank you for having decent music on your videos
I am one of those elusive creatures. I can't find a good rental in my area for a good price that isn't an apartment. A house like that would be a dream to find! I hope the renter you get appreciates all you did to fix that place! You made a weird house look normal and desirable.
God bless you. I wish there were more REAL men like you. May you and your family prosper and be well.
There are plenty of us out there, many just view it as not worth it to say what they think out loud.
I have been watching this man work on this house for 25 years, am an old man now and my eyes don't work like they used to do, but I enjoyed every episode...
My mistake I rebooted the iPad and it came through with lovely sound. Problem on my end not yours, just thought I'd let you know! Best wishes.❤
Nice to have you back. The porch talk is where you give great outlooks on life and you are spot on when you talked about our use of cellphones. I myself am also guilty of over use. Greetings from Ireland.
Wow. Love this video. Great music, information and skill. If I wasnt in Canada I would be your elusive older lady wanting to live in your unit for the next 25 years.
Canada is getting crazy, come on down.
Please don't forget to do the Formica trim o the counter top / stove area. The particle board needs the added protection from grease splatter, steam, and boil-overs. I love all the videos on this project. I still have a chuckle every time I think about you fighting with Mr. Block in the basement.
Your stuff is never negative. It is so educational and your never boring my friend.Keep up the great work.Godbless always.
Perfect tutorial on how to do things when you’re by yourself.
I grew up always with somebody doing a job with me. Now alone, this is one of the biggest things I have learned from him.
I like the simple trim and the kitchen look’s great
Thanks.
You don't need to redo any filming. Love your videos. And I must say again how much I love watching this little house progress. I mean, I have my own home, but I'd love to live in this little house. It is so cute. Any tenant should just love and treasure it.
I am so glad that you are doing home restoration videos again. Your work is inspiring & very helpful in my own life.
Some of the most wholesome content on the internet, here. No danger of doing any "damage". I can certainly appreciate your position on devices, and i do believe what you say, I just don't think i have the discipline to cut myself off.
Finished is the best trim at this point. If it is finished, it can be a family home. If it isn't finished, no matter what the grade of trim, it is an empty house. As I said last time, I just like having the visit with you. I enjoy your company, even if you don't know me. I'm glad to see it coming together, and I'm glad it is about to start being an asset to you.
I’ve missed a handful of your most recent videos. I need to go back and watch them. You’ve come so far from the beginning.
That window trim method is the best idea I've seen in ages. Absolutely ages. Love it.
Thank you
You and I are probably the only two people who don't have a cell phone. In fact I don't have any kind of phone other than the land line phone hanging on the wall. BUT my computer is making me just like the people staring at their cell phone all day. Yes. Doing the stuff I used to enjoy. You are right. The internet has sucked up all my time.
I shut my cell phone off months ago and ended up in the same situation as you.
I have three cell phones, but they are tools…not my life.
Only suggestion would be to vent that hood. With a renter I’d want to do everything I can to keep the kitchen/house cleaner.
Glad to see you back on the 9,000 house !❤🤙😎Rock on !!
Missed this...
Your ramble was very helpful to hear for me, currently feeling slightly burntout and indecisive. I'm a father of 4 year old twins and recently I've concerned over the same issues you stated about the "shifting" of culture and smartphone relient socierty, so this was very relatable. Cheers!
Go on a low carb no sugar diet, read the Bible, do some light exercise and stay off your phone. It's easy to watch my videos and over estimate me, I have been in mindsets that were not justified by my life, just allowed my mind to wander, not living with purpose, being selfish etc. Let me know if I can do anything for you.
@@homemadehome5575 - you do more than enough inspiring me with your videos, thank you so much for taking the time, these days I understand how valuable it is. Have a lovely weekend!
The windows are fabulous and the single bowl sink is great.
Been watching since the infamous $12k series. Your x2 post got me motivated, FINALLY purchased you book. Thanks 4 all the entertainment & now the resources 🙏
babe, wake up, new $9,000 video dropped!
This is quite possibly my favorite channel. Keep putting out the content and I'll keep watching.
I love your videos and feel secure knowing my kids can see them without any issue. I appreciate that greatly.
I try to keep it clean, I wouldn't advise letting younger kids listen at the end as I may talk about advanced topics on occasion.....basically I think parents should watch stuff before kids.
Hey Brian, it's really looking great! Thanks for the update
Thank you for these videos. I know it takes much much longer to film your work than it would to simply get busy. And that's not even considering the editing and posting. I really appreciate your hard work and I've learned a lot watching you.
I hope you get a great renter that respects all you have done. Nice job.
Yay! Another update😄
Been watchin you for years and I’m so happy you are doing what’s best for your family. God will bless your family and I’ll pray for y’all.
This house is coming together, I’m renovating my house now this upload has gotten me back motivated to keep going
Super to see this house popping up again! Happily watching from England and sending good wishes to you! Top content , and in fact your white oak table make (with your dad helping) is still a go to watch , four years on! 🇬🇧👋👋🇺🇸 Rich.
Vent that hood fan out now. Do it now and save yourself clean up later. If it recirculated back into the house there is no point in having it.
Thanks for sharing all you do! It's great watching you do all this great renovation to a home. I am sure your renters will enjoy living there. Keep up the great work and keep looking forward to the future. Cheers!
Loving seeing this come together! Well done...and love your attention to detail while being realistic with expenses.
It's looking great!
Anti-Butt Crack Tip 101: The most effective are lightweight coveralls, or heavyweight coveralls in cold weather. Next in line are modern, lightweight overalls in various colors, or old-school farmer denim overalls. Lastly, and less effective, are suspenders and belts or long T-shirts that you can tuck in a minimum of 2-3 inches. 😂 We are laughing with you, not at you. It's not just plumbers whose cracks want to play 👀 peek-a-boo. We've ALL been there and done that. Basically, anyone with a backside who has ever bent over, squatted, sat on the floor, or had to lie on the floor/ground to work on something, it happens. For those with stomachs bigger than our waists, it's a daily battle between gravity and dignity. 😅 A battle we can't win.
I have been asking for a Patreon for years. I understand your hesitancy. Thank you for coming around - already subscribed.
I saw that you did and very much appreciate. Thank you.
I enjoyed the comments about phones and RUclips because when life stopped in its tracks a few years ago, I became a couch potato watching way too much RUclips. Nothing bad, lots of channels like yours that I have learned so much from but taking up a lot of the day and becoming a habit that’s now hard to break. Glad to see you making more videos and finishing some projects.
I love the quick video turnaround. What a privilege to see
The attention to detail down to even fitting the countertop exactly square to the wall instead of just filling it with caulk makes this one of the nicest rental properties I have ever seen. Haha nice work
oh boy it's looking good. Always happy to see an update.
I see what you did there Robert, in Heinz-sight.
You're in the home stretch! Glad you got your groove back. Well done!! Glad you're disconnecting from the Zombie Apocalypse!! 😂😂😂
Ha, I've been disconnected to a degree for a couple years but becoming more hermitish by the day.
@@homemadehome5575 ❤❤❤
it absolutely fits! You said what you offer, you have to take your time to record and edit these videos, the driving to get it done. Your time is worth it, you put time into your videos, and it shows, houses aren't cheap.
Love your videos. I learn something new every time I watch one. Thanks!
Great effort moving the job forward
Fantastic work, as always!
Great way to get the miters to line up.
So happy! I love your work!
Thank you.
It's inspirational the way you live so mindfully and with intention.
Beautiful work
The kitchen looks amazing - considering how things started
@18:51 You are correct about a pencil compass scribe line, sanded down with a belt sander at a slight angle w/ 100 grit, finished with a bead of calk, no chance of torn up edged with a blade of a skill saw.
Love your videos. You are totally correct about the phones. Congrats on the patreon, i am sure you will get lots of people on it.
Thanks for the mustard link
Great renovation
Thanks for making another one!
Awesome Job!!
Keep up the great work. Been watching for years! Much respect for some great talking points!
You're an inspiration. Keep up the good work!
I've been watching for a few years now. Ever since I saw the $12k house timelapse. I always enjoy your talks and get a kick out of how much you ramble, it's enjoyable though and you always remind me of one of my buddies, who also has a flip phone. I always convince myself I need a smartphone for access to the internet and email etc but in reality I really don't. I'll probably look into a flip phone if my current one ever stops working.
lol the mustard bottle! The vertical track saws on the countertops!!
I need to get a short track for those cuts.
That Festool track saw looks new.😁You're runnin' with the big dogs now!
I’ve had the track saw for about 10 years. Use it for furniture projects for the most part, straightening the edges off boards but it is very useful working on houses.
I appreciate the honesty of your vids especially when you show your mistakes and how you fix them. I am curious about the farm house and what became of it also looking forward to the jeep restoration so just be you and that is all that matters as you said we can watch as much or as little as we like. Thanks again for posting.
Farm house is in the line up to be renovated, other houses just keep cutting in line.
I love when he works on this house. Been watching since he gutted it. Can't wait for the finish product ❤
The house is looking great!
23:52 As someone who lives with a small kitchen, i fully agree. I much rather have 5 more inches of counter space, instead of a double sink of which i normally only use one side.
Which really also means that the bigger sink is actually smaller since you only use one side most of the time.
I didn’t know you could glue cabinetry with mustard. Awesome!
Almost as satisfying as the block demolition in the basement! I always enjoy your perspective. If you are renting it getting done is all that matters, for example that sink and the window framing is good enough. Your good enough is better than most.
I’ll be watching tonight. Glad to see another episode and also can’t wait to see more work on the sawmill/barn/office/man cave. Going to go hang goboard for my future bathroom. 🎉
You’re looking good !!
I never thought to use mustard as an adhesive, I'll try that on my new cabinets I've installed
The cello instrumental at the beginning 👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Well done and well said!
Good luck❤ It is hard times for many of us
Love the safety squint at 10:15
Love the Safety Squints 🤣 around the 10:15 time mark
Best video you've done. Favorite video of yours.
You weren't commenting too much. Recovery is a process - good luck!
Love the commentary
Thanks
This video with the discussion at the end of the video has probably been one of the best ever! I couldn’t agree more with you about tech. I am a female that works on my old house, or houses, and I watch your videos to inspire me to work, and maybe try new ways to do things. I’m also artistic, and have been drawing again, writing some poetry, and other creative things. I appreciate you and what you do. You’re doing great as a husband and father. I’m so happy you are putting the family first. Things have been getting so weird in society, and what you’re talking about is so very important. I wish I knew a family like yours in real life and not RUclips world. I bring things up and people look at me like I have 3 heads. Not 2. Anyways, much love to you and family. Oh, and my son gave me a Mother’s Day card. It said I’m really good at working on the house and I’m a good painter, since that seems all I’ve been doing last 3 years. I told them I need to try to spend more time not on the house and with them, but I think my son likes learning how to do things when watching. I was even teaching my daughter about why and how to glaze old windows, and historic preservation. I wanted to try to put videos up on RUclips, but not sure how to edit that isn’t to boring, and never got a following. I do post more on instagram. I think if you say you’re a male on the grams you get more inappropriate things. Instagram will never remove these inappropriate pages. So just block and move on. Hopefully in the future I can try to support your page more. I love videos with knife carvings and anything creative. I also wood burn, like art with pyrography, and I haven’t worked on that in over a year. So, need to not work as hard and do fun things. Ok, take care.
