I have a 2013 accord V6. Do you recommend? If so, please can you share link, and do you take it to mechanic to do this once I buy the part?
Thanks for the helpful video. I installed mine this week in a 2013 Pilot that we just purchased with 73,000 miles on it. I expected to see a SLIGHT decrease in miles per gallon, but instead am seeing a 3 mpg INCREASE. Guessing that the remaining cylinders were working too hard to keep all that metal moving down the road in our somewhat hilly terrain. Farmers know that you get better fuel economy when hauling heavy loads if you buy a truck with a larger engine because it isn't fighting with it's last breath all the time. So far I'm quite pleased, but I wouldn't have thought to move the air snorkel and engine cover out of the way to reach it easier. Thanks again.
My combined mpg on my 2016 Honda Pilot is 24.7 and this is over a 141,000 mile ownership. I get 35 mpg on the flat interstates! I love the VCM. Without it my mileage would be terrible.
The worst part of any car job is getting all the cowling and covers out of the way. If you've never done it before (like me) then a video like this takes away that fear from not knowing what I'm doing. Now it will be twist, twist, turn, turn and get all that plastic out of the way. And now I know where the device connects and how to hook it up. Thanks a ton.
I just installed this part on my car 2 days ago. I wish I knew about this 4 years ago when I had a 2010 Odyssey which has the same exact engine. I definitely feel the difference on the engine with six cylinders running at all times.
Installed it on my 2011 Honda Pilot EX-L. I bought it on 23rd this month it has 147500 miles. Installed it in the morning when the engine was cold. Kept it idling for about 20 mins, when i took it to drive felt the difference right away. More power, better acceleration and no more eco mode fluctuations /hesitations. I bought it from the link that you gave. Got it in a week.
After I did the install and drove a couple months I noticed my plugs no longer fouled. The (3) cylinders that used to shut down were 1, 2, and 3. (Ones closest to the Firewall) 😎 I believe this will absolutely prolong the life of my engine. I normally get 250K out of my Hondas currently 157K on my 2011 Pilot
Installed one on 2019 Passport 18 months ago, best decision ever. Make sure to follow instructions, key away from vehicle and doors closed, hood up for 30 min, ECU is monitoring the vehicle so you need it asleep before you unplug the coolant sensor. Way more power, drives much better and overall transmission and engine operating better together. 9 speed transmission didn't like all the hesitation when VCM had kicked in.
The way this device works is it tricks the computer into thinking the coolant temparature is not fully up to temp. As the system is set to not activate the VCM until the entire system is up to full oporating temperature. I had one of the old versions of this 5 years ago on a 2008 Odyssey. Works. And if I had another VCM Honda I would put one on for sure.

@lanceguinn9807 @LoveLikeaHurricane I am about to install s-vcm on my 2010 Pilot, and will share the reason I purchased S-VCM as opposed to the other products (this is according to the S-VCM website). S-VCM sends a compensated signal to the ECU to keep VCM off, whereas other products are resistor-based. S-VCM will actually detect overheating and cancel the compensation signal, allowing your ECU to respond appropriately. Overall I felt it had the most sensical design control.
@@JawrL95 That is exactly why I went with the S-VCM for my 278,415 mile 2011 Honda Pilot EX-L (FWD/RES) as well. I just installed it Today...took it on a 21 Mile test drive. No issues/No ECO light on the dash. Worked as designed.

Had an '09 LX with the regular vtec v6, who knew that was a better design that the 'higher tech' vcm?? But if $100 takes away the VCM related headaches, then it's worth it.
I did this last week. After 1 week, I’m upset I didn’t do this years ago when I first heard about it. I’ll be changing my rear engine mount in the coming weeks, no doubt a casualty of the VCM vibration.
I always thought it was the transmission that was shifting poorly in our 2014. Nope.. VCM. Problem solved. Im not worried about mpg if drive ability improves.
Just ordered this. Glad I did a little more research and got the S-VCM and not the others, as they fake the engine into thinking it's too cold to use VCM. Still not sure how this works, but looking forward to a long life on the RDX with 183K. I don't have oil burn yet, but I hate the VCM mode and the shudder that's associated with it. Great clean install video.
I bought my 2013 RDX 4 years ago. It now has 161,000 miles. Got a small head gasket leak in the front. The car runs really well. No shaking or burning oil. I'm going to get it repaired and install the muzzler , hopefully before more damage. How's your car running?
I purchased the vcm tuner. I just paid $1200 to replace a catalytic converter. So far, no eco light. I am in the south, so I advanced the tuner 10 ohms to 50 from 40.
The jumper kit for our 2009 Pilot Touring was painfully sort on wire length, so the zip ties didn't work. I did discover a plan B however. Those double sided 3/8" wide and about 8" long Velcro strips that have the hole on one side so they can cinch around a drill power cord to coil up the rest of the cord worked perfectly for controlling the jumper unit's motion and it was much easier to feed around the wire bundle . I cinched the velcro strap around the stiff wire assembly heading towards the front fuel injector bank and then wrapped it around the two cable protectors and also added a 2nd velcro strip on the coolant sensor side to the stiff wire to further control the motion. Added bonus was being able to dial in just how much tension you wanted, plus it allows you to remove the jumper system or at least move it out of the way if a coolant hose or sender needs replacing. We'll see how it works, but I had no issues with check engine light coming on. Time will tell on the gas mileage, but factoring the savings on oil consumption might mmake it a break even deal.
Without question, VCM has got to be 1 of the dumbest things Honda has ever done.. Causes oil burning and fouled plugs... Also causes early deterioration of the liquid filled motor mounts and plugged catalytic converter.. Installing this device is a smart move..
hi!!! what inside in that small box? I know it should be 100 om resistor on any of two lines. but what about power line???? it is by pass relay with temperature sensor trigger?
I just installed the S-VCM on my 2011 Honda Odyssey (75,930 mi.) this morning and then took it for a test drive. The engine seems to be running smoother and I can tell there is more power there when going from just cruising to accelerating. I paid $95.00 plus $11.00 shipping for this item and I was a bit disappointed when I got it. It is quite small and there isn't much to it. It comes with detailed installation instructions which insist you must follow in strict order. When I did that I found that after using the tiny zip ties provided I could not connect the S-VCM to the sensor because it wasn't long enough. I had to cut the ties, connect to the sensor, and then use my own zip ties (recommended) to secure the electrical harnesses.
@@justinusaf18 Did you even read my comment above? I was following the step-by-instructions which the manufacturer insists must be followed in strict order. The zip ties provided are wholly inadequate for the job so I used my own 11" ties which are rated for extreme temps to boot.

I'm looking at buying a brand new Odyssey or perhaps a Passport. At what age did oil consumption start to increase on your Pilot? I test drove a 2025 Odyssey yesterday and it seemed to need more throttle input than our current '04 Odyssey to get it moving. Not sure if that's VCM related or not. At any rate, it instantly made me think to search for a way to deactivate VCM. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Do you have any updates on how its running?Currently experiencing this issue. Vehicle has 204k miles and had to replace 3 fouled plugs over the past 6 months as well the both cat converters recenlty. About to get tbis installed before i consider replacing the rings.
What size fuse does the vcm disabler kit use in 6 cylinder Honda applications ? It is not shown on my kit's fuse. I wish to purchase spares . Many thanks .
Thanks for the great video! How many miles did you have on this Pilot when you installed the s-vcm? I have 145600 on my 2011 Pilot and starting to consume oil.
Hello I’m considering for my Honda Odyssey that I recently purchased and notice the vcm system and it drives me insane does the one in the link ship to the United States thank you
So 2 questions. 1-If the ecu thinks the engine is not hitting operating temp, will it constantly be trying to schedule more fuel/air to get the temp up. 2-During the summer (100°f and hotter) will your cooling fan turn on when needed if the ecu thinks the block temp is low.
The VCM is the freaking devil. Those engines will last to 500k but the VCM absolutely ruins them. Ruins the catalytic converters. Ruins the active engine mounts. 100 bucks is nothing for a VCM muzzle that literally saves your engine.
I installed one of these about a year ago. Maybe 6 months ago I noticed my eco turns back on - seemed like an isolated incident. Lately, it seems when the car sits in the sun too long outside the controller will stop working and the eco will turn on. I'm currently looking for a solution - I've checked my install multiple times and it looks fine. Keep in mind I live in the northeast - while it can get hot it's nothing crazy, 90s at the highest.
I read because the controller lowers the temp of the engine. The controller itself will activate a fail safe of some kind. either warn you or I guess turn back on eco mode so your car doesnt overheat. So just keep in mind to park in the shade I guess if traveling during the day lol
I installed this on our 2010 Pilot about a month ago and am pleased that the eco light does not come on. But gas mileage has decreased significantly as well as take off power. Is this to be expected or does the ecm have to be reset?
People actually report getting better throttle response. Gas mileage is expected to drop a bit. I actually didn’t notice a difference in anything. People say to install it when the car is cold. Maybe try taking it off, disconnect the battery to reset and reinstalling it first thing in the morning.
Do you have any check engine lights? There is something more to your issue. All this does is change the coolant temp that the computer sees. This can happen if you have a fuel pump going out or fuel filter clogged.
what exactly does this do? I read below about stopping vibrations, others say about using more cylinders. hmmm Would this help a 2023 passport engine? Did you see a difference?
disables the VCM feature of Honda V6 vehicles. Honda V6 are known to have problems because of VCM which includes messed up spark plugs, oil burning, rough driving, messed up engine mounts, etc. Summary is, if you want to keep your car long term and realiable, put a VCM disabler unit on.
Update: I went ahead and installed this VCM Controller on my 2024 Honda Ridgeline and it has been trouble free. Was super easy to install and given me no engine codes whatsoever. It got rid of the engine brake effect I was feeling when coming to a stop at low speeds in town. There has been a significant improvement in acceleration and throttle response at all speeds. In my opinion it has been well worth the money.
So if this works by tricking the computer that vehicle is not all the way warmed up will you still be alerted if car starts to over heat for any reason?
It’s a little better but it still consumes oil. Sometimes it seems to be better than others so not sure if more highway or city driving causes it to use more oil. It’s my wife’s car so it’s hard to document and figure out.
I tried that on another car a long time ago. Didn’t seem to help. I’m not a big fan of some of these chemicals. I would be afraid that big chunks of gunk get dislodged and possibly clog the engine oil pick up.
Hey @fixingit I just installed the bypass question when I turned the car off I hear a hiss when the motor shuts off any suggestions or any knowledge about this.thanks again my friend
Did anyone experience battery draw with the S-CVM? My mechanic installed this one and my battery died same day. Now disconnected and considering a VCM disabler that does not wire to the battery
I am thinking about buying a Pilot...Since it is one of the few V6 left... I gotta ask the question tho...Why would Honda not put an ON/OFF switch for this ???? It pisses me off that with the sticker prices they are asking for, they do not give you the option to turn this madness off.

Running fine 😎
@@fixinit thanks!
What's the little trip monitor and temperature gauge on your instrument panel? Can you provide a link?
What size fuse does the vcm disabler kit use in 6 cylinder Honda applications ? It is not shown on my kit's fuse. I wish to purchase spares . Many thanks .
Battery Light came on my 2014 Honda Odyessey could this be linked to the SVCM or any suggestions
The link takes me to one for a 2016 pilot. Im looking for a 2015 one 🤔 cant seem to find it
How did it change your fuel consumption?
I have a 2021 ridgeline, does this have any effect on the eco button functions?
Will this work on a 2007 pilot's VCM too?
Only thing I would mention is DO NOT leave the module sitting on top of the EGR.
Can someone please share the link to the exact part he is using. The ones on Amazon look nothing like his.
nevermind
Thanks for sharing this great info! Where did you order your VCM controller from? thanks in advance!

4:18 when you tighten the 10mm nut, how tight should it be?
just until the wire don't moved
Snug hand tight. Don't go crazy.
Did you get the long pigtail or the short one?
Thanks for the great video! How many miles did you have on this Pilot when you installed the s-vcm? I have 145600 on my 2011 Pilot and starting to consume oil.
Update
Hello I’m considering for my Honda Odyssey that I recently purchased and notice the vcm system and it drives me insane does the one in the link ship to the United States thank you
Yes
hi, I have a question: I have a 2012 Pilot with 263k sometimes the eco comes on with the S-VCM CONTROLLER connected, is this normal? thanks
No, the ECU commands CL at a much lower temperature in order to control emissions.
After i install the svcm, do i need to do anything for any season? Or it's just one time plug and play?
Just plug and play
How long did it take to deliver?
@@nishattasnim399 About a week
The VCM is the freaking devil. Those engines will last to 500k but the VCM absolutely ruins them. Ruins the catalytic converters. Ruins the active engine mounts. 100 bucks is nothing for a VCM muzzle that literally saves your engine.
100% right.
Can you send me the info or link to the one you bought? I've found others but none with the exact wiring your kit has.
www.svcmcontroller.com
Mine went bad after a few years and had to replace it. Otherwise I've been happy with this product
Should there be a fuse on this since it's connected to battery??
2015 honda accord sport is the same process?
Is the s-vcm kit available ??
Yo acabo de comprar el mío solo espero que llegue pronto para instalarlo
Hi nice video you should put a link up so people can purchase one.
There’s a link in the video description. Thanks for watching.😎
You said you were going to leave an update in the comments on your oil consumption? It's been a 2 years. How did it work out?
It definitely helped. It still uses oil but not nearly as much.
The vcm muzzler i installed today does not have the wire to connect to the battery???
Have you had any issues so far? I am planning on ordering one very soon. Thanks for the video!
No issues
I installed one of these about a year ago. Maybe 6 months ago I noticed my eco turns back on - seemed like an isolated incident.
Lately, it seems when the car sits in the sun too long outside the controller will stop working and the eco will turn on. I'm currently looking for a solution - I've checked my install multiple times and it looks fine. Keep in mind I live in the northeast - while it can get hot it's nothing crazy, 90s at the highest.
@@anamethat maybe reach out to company that you purchased it from? and report back!
I read because the controller lowers the temp of the engine. The controller itself will activate a fail safe of some kind. either warn you or I guess turn back on eco mode so your car doesnt overheat. So just keep in mind to park in the shade I guess if traveling during the day lol
@@anamethat I used another brand that has adjustable dip switches to change the resistance.
Does this affect a smog check?
Do they make it for a 2013 Kia suv ?
Great tutorial!
Thanks for watching!😎
Any follow up dude? How is it working out, notice any changes?
Working fine. The oil consumption seemed to get better
Hopefully they release a version for the new 3.5 DOHC engines in the ‘23 Pilot and forth coming ‘26 Passport
Thanks for the video, where can I buy the vcm controller?
www.svcmcontroller.com/
How does this or will this effect the temp reading in the dash??
Did not affect temp readings on my Pilot
Slightly lower on my 2013 Odyssey
I got a check engine light light after is that normal
what exactly does this do? I read below about stopping vibrations, others say about using more cylinders. hmmm Would this help a 2023 passport engine? Did you see a difference?
disables the VCM feature of Honda V6 vehicles. Honda V6 are known to have problems because of VCM which includes messed up spark plugs, oil burning, rough driving, messed up engine mounts, etc. Summary is, if you want to keep your car long term and realiable, put a VCM disabler unit on.
Will the VCM Controller void engine warranty?
Update: I went ahead and installed this VCM Controller on my 2024 Honda Ridgeline and it has been trouble free. Was super easy to install and given me no engine codes whatsoever. It got rid of the engine brake effect I was feeling when coming to a stop at low speeds in town. There has been a significant improvement in acceleration and throttle response at all speeds.
In my opinion it has been well worth the money.
So if this works by tricking the computer that vehicle is not all the way warmed up will you still be alerted if car starts to over heat for any reason?
Yes, it has a sensor in it and will bypass the muzzle and allow the true temp to be reported if an overheat is detected.
Good vid, one thing is car must be ice cold to install it i heard elsewhere
Can you post an update on this? I am curious on the oil consumption after its been installed for a year.
It’s a little better but it still consumes oil. Sometimes it seems to be better than others so not sure if more highway or city driving causes it to use more oil. It’s my wife’s car so it’s hard to document and figure out.
@@fixinit Can you try the seafoam treatment in the crank case and see if that helps?
I tried that on another car a long time ago. Didn’t seem to help.
I’m not a big fan of some of these chemicals. I would be afraid that big chunks of gunk get dislodged and possibly clog the engine oil pick up.
I haven't seen a comment yet on how it's worked out for you 🤷🏼♂️. Also do you have a link for that bypass thing you bought?
Oil consumption has decreased. Link for the part is in the video description.
@@fixinit thanks man. The vcm is it causing any problems in our Honda 2010 pilot it's just it's eating oil, hoping this helps.
will this for 2024 ridgeline truck?
Yes. 2017 and later
You have the link to buy one, thank you.
Link is in the video description
Could someone post where to buy it?
www.svcmcontroller.com
So if it tricks the cars computer temperature what happens when the car over heats?
Late reply, it has an override function. If the temp gets too high, the device allows for the actual temp to be reported.
But does this negativity effect the MPG?
3 months after installing this part no issues.
Hey @fixingit I just installed the bypass question when I turned the car off I hear a hiss when the motor shuts off any suggestions or any knowledge about this.thanks again my friend
just ignore it
How is the oil consumption??? please comment Fixin It
Did anyone experience battery draw with the S-CVM? My mechanic installed this one and my battery died same day. Now disconnected and considering a VCM disabler that does not wire to the battery
Hi where did you buy the kit?
www.svcmcontroller.com/
Can you send a link where you got yours please

Thanks I just bought one been having some issues thinking it's will be solved with this but in long run will be better
Can you post the link to this product please
The link is in the video description
I am thinking about buying a Pilot...Since it is one of the few V6 left...
I gotta ask the question tho...Why would Honda not put an ON/OFF switch for this ????
It pisses me off that with the sticker prices they are asking for, they do not give you the
option to turn this madness off.
Where do you buy the kit?
There’s a link in the video description

Okay thanks I see it now. I guess I missed it because there wasn't a description in front of it.
Really appreciate the video. My wife's 2012 Odyssey has been driving us nuts for months. I only learned about VCM blockers yesterday!
After installing the svcm controller in my 2020 Honda Ridgeline, all the lights came on the dash, traction control, transmission errors,etc...
When i moved the truck in my driveway it had Poor throttle response, even the back up camera stopped working.
I removed the svcm controller and cleared the codes.
🤔
WTH?
Where can I order this part from ?

Help, my eco light still blinks on and off randomly.
Another great video. I love Honda Pilots to death (on my 2nd one now) but that VCM is a small stain on their overall awesomeness. I’m buying this today.
Quick question.. do you have video or a suggestion for cleaning the headlights? Thanks
Here’s the video for the headlights

Update did you install yet
Please where i can buy one

How late is too late to install the SVCM? My Pilot is at 94,500mi, gave me code P0303 two days ago. Changed cylinder 3 plug and coil, now it’s fine again.
Apparently never too late.😎
Just installed mine today at 129K
Did the s-vcm controller work after all ?
I did improve oil consumption but it did not eliminate it.
@@fixinit i at honda and seen soo many tricks its better to check compression and block bore .definitely a good resource for low mileage best of luck
Where you get that?
Check out the other comments and he has a Link.
VCM damages your valve train, GM has lots of trouble with it in the LS motors. First thing you should do when you get a motor with this is delete it
Did it help your oil consumption?
Yes, it definitely helped. Didn’t completely stop it.
