LET'S BE REALISTIC
Overpopulation plays a major role, if you save 161 million Africans and Muslims from starvation, they will have five kids on average. That will result in a bigger problem, more people starving in the long run. Let's face facts; world population is growing exponentially and sooner or later, they're going to starve to death.
Isn't it more Humane to let a smaller or number of them starve to death sooner? If we do help them will they be grateful? Have they been grateful? We keep sending all this aid to them and so many of them hate us. They only see the bad things we do. They only see our negative aspects despite all the positive things we do for them. Is this gratitude?

The big issue in East Africa is that these droughts are mainly man made..we have nomadic population in dry areas who rely only on livestock for upkeep but they lose them when there is a drought.. billions go to waste due to lack of planning while politicians bicker and misuse their local allocations.

Considering that Africa is the birthplace of humidity then I’m going to guess that a good portion of what is written in the Bible pertains to Africa. This certainly rings out when you consider the vastness of droughts on the continent of Africa.

Why every year this comes around. It’s the children I feel for. At the same time, if you cannot feed your first child why have four more, to me that is cruel to the children. My heart does go out to the people but let’s get a grip on things.
Historically, I don't believe the female population there has had the bodily autonomy to deny men access to and authority over what happens to their bodies. Now American women have that in common.

Perhaps. Most of them are oblivious to the fact that they’re further compromising their already compromised situation by having children.
It’s already hard enough to support yourself in the midst of a food and water scarcity in a third world continent such as Africa which is why it’s not a smart move to create more needs and responsibilities to fill by having children.
Abstention is the best form of contraception. It’s the most effective and it’s free. Can’t go wrong with that. You’d have less responsibilities and your kids won’t have to suffer too. Abstention in this situation is a selfless act for your unborn children. If there’s no artificial contraception available then don’t plug it in at all lol

Africa is in serious need to enhance the infrastructure problem. But, also, there is a drought problem in Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia that needs to be addressed NOW. How about drilling wells to get water so the people in outlying areas don't die from thirst or hunger. Please make basic human needs first.

This story speaks about an Africa affected by severe drought and climate change brought on mainly by the western world. Yet the people commenting, who are all living comfortably in the west and contributing to the terrible state of the climate, have the most disgusting things to say about the people who are put in this situations because of others. These people are hard working farmers who work and live off their land, they didn't ask for this, have some empathy. The western world wants Africa in this state so they can continue taking advantage of their resources and every time a leader tries to rise up we stomp on them. I'm sixty, years of famine are nothing new. We help Africans , but it is not global warming, recently changed to climate change, which it always does.

Because they are not educated on the prevention of pregnancy. They don’t have access to contraceptives. Women have few rights so cannot tell a man “no” to sex. They might not even understand how pregnancy works. They believe having more children increases the likelihood that one might be successful and can be work on the land or gather resources. All of these combined leads to high birth rates.
What are their Governments doing to help? Very, very sad and horrible!
