So I changed the front sprocket today. It was fairly easy. The hard part was readjusting the rear wheel. I had to loosen the wheel a bit to create slack for the sprocket to fit. But when I changed the sprocket, the chain was too tight. So I moved the wheel around. But I think I spent almost 2 hours trying to adjust the wheel and the chain. I was having much trouble finding a good alignment. I finally gave up and just tightened the wheel when it was close enough. I hope I don't have any issues.
Hi, did you loosen both side adjusting nuts? The trick is to loosen the nuts both sides and slide the wheel all the way to the front and then slowly tightning the nuts both sides until you have some tension on chain. Then spin the wheel to check the freeness and find the tighest spot on the chain and again tighten both sides untill desired tension is reached.
@@dhawalnag I didn't push the wheel all the way to the front. I just loosened the nuts enough to create a little more slack when installing the sprocket. When I found that the chain was tight, I began to loosen the side nuts. When I finally found the right tension, I found that the nuts still felt loose. So I wiggled the wheel a bit, tried pushing forward to give the nuts room to tighten more. But then it would mess up the tension, and had to play with the wheel again to find the right tension. All while trying to make sure that when I tightened the side nut, it wouldn't mess up the alignment.
@@nerychristian yes, that is something we all struggle, however it is important to have the tyre alligned else it can damage the chain sprocket and worn the tyre soon, you can also check the allignment through the markings given on both sides of rear excel nuts. the marking should be same.
@@dhawalnag Maybe I will wait before replacing the sprocket. I've only owned the bike about a month. So don't want to modify it until I know it will not have issues. I still have 5 year warranty. Don't want to void it.
@@nerychristian i understand what you are saying. However there will be no warranty issue due to sprocket replacement. In fact i made triumph technician change the sprocket for me one time. @@MachineDiariesVlogs that is impressive bro. If you are doing long rides i believe you have taken a right decision to change the sprocket. 17T gives a little more relaxed ride on highways and make first gear a little tall and useful.
If you are asking for fuel consumption. There is no big difference. Though the rpm has reduced by 500 at each gear. The fule consumption is almost same. I did not notice any difference.

Hi Abhishek, thanks for watching the video and taking time to share the problem. I do not have this problem. Make sure your clutch has free play as per specs. Secondly make sure tue chain has specified tension

Can you make a video showing how to change the sprocket?
I dont have a plan of changing sprocket in near future but when ever i do i will try to make a video.
after sprocket change to 17, while crusing at 100km 6 th gear whats d rpm reading? original 16 is 5000.
You will see a drop of 500 rpm for each gear. So if you are in 6th gear at 100km/h at 5000rpm then same speed is achieved at 4500rpm approx.
