Watch on as i give this old school fast ford a quirky review Peak Performance Reviews style.

The Mk3 twin headlamp facade was a thing of beauty.
Totally agree! Thank you so much for watching! Hope you enjoyed as much I did driving it 🙌✅
What an awesome car. Love old Capri's.
Fordy Ford totally agree fella I’m the same, love an old mechanical rear wheel drive car 👌👍😎
The Professionals springs to mind with the Capri loved that TV show as a kid
Never saw much of it but have seen some, mega! Such an awesome drive this hence why I was getting quite emotional. Cracking car, thanks for watching Neil, do you have one?
@@PeakPerformanceReviews No afraid not just a car I grew up with
@@neilmustow368 ah no problem. Thanks again for watching, please stick around and subscribe as we’ll be doing loads more in cool classics and Heritage cars too.
"These are... THE PROFESSIONALS!" :-)
Who’s still here for this awesome Capri 🙌🫶❤️
Thank you for doing this review of the Capri 280 Brooklands, what an amazing looking car it is, I've always loved the Capri, in fact, my very first car back in 1983, was a Mk1 Ford Capri 1.6 XL, the stereo that it came with was an 8 track player with tapes which I still have somewhere, unfortunately, I don't have the Capri any more, I would love to get another one in mint condition, but being such a classic, they are out of my budget range now.
Raymond Woodrow thank you so so much for the lovely kind words I’m glad you enjoyed.
Oh wow that’s amazing but yeah they have gone to huge money now unfortunately, always one of thought situations where we wish we never got rid of any of our cars.
Thanks again for watching and please stick around and subscribe as it’ll be great to have you. We’ll be doing loads more with some classics in the future as I’m a classic car owner myself.
I love capri motors, and your vid. Give me more love for it. Awesome vid 👍👍👍👍👍
1973sharpy thank you so so much for the kind words. Although we do new car Reviews were massive lovers and owners of classics so definitely stick around and subscribe as it’ll be great to have like minded people like you on board ❤️👌👍
Nice video, my first two cars were MK2 Ford Fiesta XR2's I had a Black one and then a Crystal Blue (which I am told now was a very rare colour). Even all the cars I have driven up until now including the Supra, I still think I had the most fun in the XR2. I would do anything to get my Blue XR2 back.. it was so much fun to drive had so many good memories in that car too! Just a shame when I sold it the person who I sold it too wrote it off within a couple of weeks, I was gutted as it was Mint condition.
Hawke Motorsport nice fella, I think the older cars you have always tend to be the ones you remember the most. That’s an amazing first car to have too, back in the day when these were out these must have been so quick for a first car that’s for sure. Yeah the XR2’s are also starting to make really good money, never see them on the roads now. Ah that’s such a shame it was written off 😤😢
This is a beautiful car... old, but gold!
Rafael Viegas defiantly! Got to love an old school mechanical car that’s for sure.
Simple and fun :-) :-)
That’s pretty cool 😎 no drivers aides pure and simple cheers my friend
Ralph Smallblock totally agree, just simple pure analog driving 👌👍
@@PeakPerformanceReviews Absolutely SPOT ON! Ralph is correct. Aside from the obvious aesthetic appeal of the Capri, it's simplicity and purity is hugely appealing. No Nanny state 'driver aids' on board. Traction control? That's what your right foot is for! I've owned an 1984 Injection as a show car for 26 years. I've 'played' with it and it punches out nigh on 280 Bhp and 300 lbs ft of torque. Brakes, suspension and transmission have all been uprated to cope. It's blistering quick and will scalp the vast majority of metal on the road today. It's power to weight ratio is 2 bhp per tonne down on an Aston V8 Vantage! I adore it's no nonsense simplicity. The Capri is one of those cars that is worth much more than the sum of it's parts.
Peter Clarke yep totally agree I really do, the feeling you get from a proper old mechanical car is second to none imo! Thank you so much for watching, definitely stick around and subscribe if you haven’t already as we’re going to be doing loads more with classics in the future being as I’m a classic car owner (or 4) myself ❤️👍👌🙌
my mates got a Brooklands rolling shell in his garage he's been wanting to sell for a while now, they are lovely cars restored.
That’s epic, will be worth so much I suspect when fully restored. Absolutely loved my drive in it! Thank you so much for watching Amano please stick around and subscribe as we need more good people like you on here with us 🙌👍😎
I had the last registered 4 speed 2.8i in the country from 1990 to 1995.....Reg was A989 UOF. Still all these years later my fav car I have owned.
Graham Evans that’s epic fella! It had so much character and I loved my drive in it 👍❤️👌 you could see the emotion and the way it made me feel 👌😎👍
@@PeakPerformanceReviews facebook.com/marketplace/item/216207989304267/
Mine was exactly the same as this one....currently for sale on fb marketplace. £15,000!!!!! I sold mine for £1500 back in 1995....car had only done 60,000 as well.
What do you have now? Still have any classics? Sorry YT held this comment and I only have just seen this
@@PeakPerformanceReviews I drive a Jaguar XF 2.2 Sport LE now...had it 6 years. I recommissioned my partners Dads Pug RCZ which hadn't moved for over 3 years. That's our fun car....+ I get to drive her Audi TT mk 2 which is great fun.
I would love something like a Ford Puma which have not gone crazy price wise yet.
RCZ are awesome, fun fact I got my race licence in one (practical part of passing it on track) was awesome.
Yeah I had a puma and fancy one but noticed the same, I have a nice old mini and a few old cars that keep my classic itch scratched
I remember when I was 18 in 1987 going to a thing called the Essex Show at Great Leigh's showground which is now Chelmsford horse racing course.
On the Ford stand they had a Brooklands 280 displayed on one of those tilt frames so that it was pointing nose down with a sideways lean and the back end up in the air so that you could look underneath. Back then it was a brand new Capri.
Weird to think we haven’t see a show for quite some time because all of this rubbish going on (😢 sad times) That must have been amazing 🙌 did you ever have one?
@@PeakPerformanceReviews I had a 1600 L which I ended up lowering with pepper pot injection wheels fitted , Cobra bucket seats with fishnet headrests, Janspeed exhaust , tailgate spoiler , bumper overrides, Weber carbs with k & n filters and some basic engine mods.
I certainly spent a few quid at Burtons Gants Hill and Ripspeed at Edmonton.
At 18/19 it was the best I could do financially a 3.0 sport or a dream 2.8i were just out of reach financially and insurance wise. Sold mine back in 98 a mark 3 W plate but the rust was getting it. I dont think its survived cuz nothing comes up on reg checks.😣
@@originalpickaxe that’s epic and I suspect that was still such a cool car back then and at that age also none the less.
Ah that’s always a shame, I’ve had a few classics and sold a few even at my age so I appreciate a nice mechanical older car and still own a few. I think most I know of are still on the road and yeah like I said I still have a few kicking about which I love.
I would never have known this was old school what a bell end
Oooo don’t you’ll hurt my feelings 😆
I`ve owned Capris since my first car at age 17 including more than my fair share of 3.0 litres and still own an `85 B Injection Special in Mineral blue over Silver with a COO reg like one of Bodies 3.0 S`s. I bought it years ago for buttons and it still makes me smile every time I see or drive it. Everyone calls them olde skool these days but I remember them as new / current skool cars and as a 13 year old I longed for the new Crystal green over Silver 2.8 4 speed I saw daily where I lived. If I had a pound for every time someone says " my dad had one of those " …. : )
MrUsedcarguy ah love this! Going up in value daily! I know people that said a Capri would never be worth any money ... how wrong were they. But even for loads of money you wouldn’t part with it would you? They have so much character and as current crop cars get more digital these just get cooler and cooler.
We definitely love our classics on this channel so definitely stick around and subscribe if you haven’t as it would be great to have you here 👍 thanks for watching 👌👍😎
I have a similar story mate had 10 3 litre Capri's mk2's mk3,s , 1 3000e mk1 and 1 black 2.8 injection over the 80,s and 90,s loved them ,totally different car to 1.6 or 2.0 !
Love these kinda stories 🫶🙌
Nice video! Hows the fiesta going with the new flywheel?
BrownHammer hello fella, yeah all good, love it, Revs up so much quicker and make a noticeable increase to general speed of the car. There’s a little engagement sound but I’m told that goes after about 1000-2000 miles but not that bad at all and peddle feel is not bad at all. I love it thanks fella 👍👌😎
Back in the days when Ford actually built interesting, good looking cars. What's on offer today is soulless, and mostly ugly- save for the Mustang. I won't be selling my Capri in a hurry. No driver aids, no nanny state bullshit- it's a purists car.
Ouch haha, tbh I get what your saying, I do love an old school car. You can’t beat a proper mechanical car that you really need to drive 👌 thanks so much for watching.
Please stick around and subscribe as we own some classics and will always do more with many more heritage and classic cars
Heavy steering? What are you talking about? Try driving a mk1 V6 with one hand on the wheel and the opposing elbow out the window.....as it should be done.
Haha would love to, i live for a good classic and i don't even care if the steering is heavy, by and large the heavier the better. Love that fella, do you have any other classics too?
@@PeakPerformanceReviews I've had Capris and Escorts since the early 90s. Down to 3 after owned up to 8 and one point. They are such simple and trouble free cars to own and enjoy.

project_gti_mk2 nice! Where about’s are you? Somewhere nice and hot? Mind you it’s super hot today in the UK 👌❤️ 🥵
Capris need a big American V8 under the hood to make them Aston Martin killers.

Agree 100%, I love mine it has a 5.7ltr small block chevy. It drives great, sounds amazing and goes like hell!
And they are lighter blocks than people realise so there a great swap.
Thanks for watching also Jason would love to see that 🙌
I would love to own that car.
Same, lovely car 🙌❤️ thanks for watching Trevor 👌👍 do you have anything similar?
No i wish i did .
So so nice, have you ever had a nice Classic car or is one on the car in the future?
It's not Old School, it's a Car of it's day. The Golden age of motoring is over.
And a great car at the time it was and for many reason will remain.
Depends what way you look at things, for me the classics and older cars are and still will be around and the newer cars still have there benefits and strength.
@@PeakPerformanceReviews I hope so, and I hope Petrol powered cars are never phased out. I suppose the 80's were a kind of Golden Age, well to me anyway :)
@@galatura I think they won’t completely, we’ll at least not the old classics as such.
Yeah mine are the 90’s but I think the 80’s have the most iconic cars maybe and have some great cars! Thanks so much again for watching 🙌😎 what do you own now? Do you have some older classics yourself?
@@PeakPerformanceReviews I hope you are right :) I don't own any at the moment, but in the past I've owned a Capri 3-0S, a 2.8i Special , an X3£i and an XR2. What I regret is missing out on an RS Turbo Custom MKI. I still regret it.
@@galatura fingers crossed for us all bud.
Really nice selection of cars fella, bet you wish you still had them all.
Thanks again for watching 🙌
You don't have to drive them crossing your arms that much, try moving your hands a bit.
Just the racing driver in me (nation and international racing license) always keep your hands on the wheel …. But yeah things cars with old boaty steering racks best require more of that no doubt.
👍
nice
Saluti e Buon Anno👍👌💪🇸🇲

They say it’s the last ever Capri of the line! Which is a D reg’ but I haha did seem a E reg’ which obviously comes after the D reg’ but I heard they had made a couple of F reg ? Can anyone in the know enlighten me? Thanks Paul
I’m going to guess but I’ll try and wait for someone else to chime in too and I’ll also ask Ford heritage if I don’t get an answer from anyone else. I think it’s because the plate may actually be a personalised one as it’s a 1987 and an 87 makes it an Late E reg I think? I also don’t think there has been an F reg? I don’t know I’ll try and find out 👍 thanks for watching Paul please stick around and subscribe as it’ll be great to have you on here 👌😎
Since then I have watched and read more and people believed there s a few G reg and even some J reg Rockford capri’s which the car dealers have difficulty in selling! And sold very reduced? So I’m even More confused 🤷🏻♂️ I wonder If anyone knows? Thanks Paul.
Haha that is confusing I’ll ask Ford for you.
Peak Performance Reviews that be great thank you although I may sound a sad I do find it rather interesting’ so yes if you could that’ll be great’ regards Paul.
Paul Walters no problem, no that’s not sad at all I totally get it and I’m intrigued too 👍👍
What are those wheels???
Darren Manning they are the standard wheels that come on a 280 Brooklands Capri, there a seven spoke Ford Alloy. They go for about £820 a set on eBay.
RS....They replaced the earlier Pepper Pots on the earlier 2.8's. They were fitted to the 2.8i Specials from 1985 until the end of production.
7 spoke RS alloys, I believe they were 15" as fitted to the special. Still a nice looking wheel though even 35 years later.
@@adrianwhitehead2331 13" were on the Special, 15" only as standard on the 280. Many have retro fitted the 15s to Specials as the tyres are so much easier to get than the 13s. Replica wheels are cheap and easy to get. Originals on the other hand....
You guys are awesome, love how my viewers on this know so much and have so much knowledge on Capris 🙌
Hope one day I’ll get to drive one again fingers crossed 🤞
I have seen 2 E reg Capri so i dont believe this is the last 2.8 Capri
Gary Bampkin it’s only what I was told by Ford Heritage I wouldn’t honestly know for sure but your not the only person that said that too me now. I’m still trying to find out more. Hope you enjoyed the vid none the less 👌👍😎
@@PeakPerformanceReviews You have to go by date of manufacturer not what the registration says! New cars could be hanging around in showrooms for months and I've known even for years!
LevelCrossing Ah yes of course you are totally right I have heard that before too! Thanks for watching hope you enjoyed 👍👌😎
@@PeakPerformanceReviews You're welcome, it was a great run out in the car. I remember very tidy 2.8 Capris going for £1100, I should have bought one!
LevelCrossing yeah same, my missus dad had a barn full of them (I think around 12 or so I was told) they were tatty ones but not terrible but he scrapped them some 15-20 years ago, he would of got some tidy money as he also had a load of MK1 and 2 Escort shells too 🙈 haha, we all have some car regrets hey.
Thank you so much for watching, please stick around and subscribe as we need more classic lovers on my channel too.
I will be doing loads more with heritage brands and with some of my classics and others in the future 👍👌
Love the car but your review um well I've never seen anyone cross their arms so much before while steering and I lost count of the times you said old school. next time just talk about what you see and what you feel its your opportunity to take us on the journey with you. Take this as constructive criticism I gather you just got overwhelmed by the moment its a special privilege.
It’s a racer thing I guess, I have a National and international race license and have won a few championships (that’s not me saying I’m amazing at driving either) but we cross but don’t let go, car control 101 I guess for people that race..... habits I guess .... that coupled with the very old feel old steering. I honestly do appreciate constructive criticism though and you’ve continued to say it in a nice manner. I’ve learned slowly as this car review media thing has got more serious for me why works and what doesn’t and I do make and have made some mistakes and I learn from them. This was a fairly old review so I like to thing both me and the edits have come on but I appreciate it honestly! Thanks for watching and please stick around as it’ll be great to have you around 👍
@@PeakPerformanceReviews I got into habits because of what I learnt to drive in. My first 2 cars being 2.8 Capris and Ferrari 308, I got used to skipping gears. Because of the high torque of both cars, it wasn't a problem! Not sure what you mean that the steering is wide. It's still the newest car of my own, along with my Mk2 Granada limousine some of the easiest cars to steer and manouvre in tight spaces. And that's comes after driving hundreds modern of cars into parking spaces as an airport valet driver.
@@dcarbs2979 when did I say wide I’ll have to watch back haha.
Thanks for watching fella, oh for sure kick to locks it’s great I think you just need to be used to the heavy weighted none assisted steering 👍 absolutely loved it though 😎👌
@@PeakPerformanceReviews V6 Capris are power assisted! Including the one you drove in this video. It's the 4-cylinder models that are unassisted (e.g. Lasers). They give far better feedback than anything newer.
@@dcarbs2979 better feedback but heavier than a lot of modern racks.
Great at speed but hard at slower speeds, that being said within reason I prefer better feedback for sure. Nothing worse than light lifeless steering feel.
Balancing weights on the outside of alloys ? NO ! Especially not on a ford heritage car.
Blooming heck I must say I didn’t notice that, sharp eyes fella 👌 thanks for watching hope you enjoyed.

He might own the last one down the line as Ford’s car is the last chassis number, as cars are not produced in numerical order.
