@@SteveAFCLondon when I said the same colour, I meant it loosely as a visual comparison. Obviously the Brooklands is Brooklands Green where as mine, if memory serves, was Forest Green over Crystal Green.
Its a Shame, that Ford didnt go all out with refining the 280. They ran out of Paint, through production, so a fair number of them, didnt have any paint, behind the door cards of Dashboard. Hence rust, the front of the Wings werent protected correctly, again rust. The leather on the seats wasnt very strong and got damaged easy. Yes, I did own a Brooklands 280, for a time. With all it faults, i wish i hadnt let it go. It got exported to New Zealand, in the early '90's.
I had 2 Capris when I was stationed in Germany with USAF. Both were 2 liter 90 HP V-6's. Drive all day long at 90-100mph down the bahn. I really like the car in the video, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side.🤣
Sold I guess. If not I am a buyer..from the USA. Mine was a Mk II 1.6 L but I messed with it, called customization,, Still looking for a MkII or Mk III and willing to pay.
Always a difficult decision to let it go after so many years. If the seller didn't really need the money, the best place for it was in the car. Prices still have a long way to go.
How sad to see, when up on the trailer, his face, like a death in the family, he must really want a motor home, or a wife who has had enough of coming second to a car,
Zero rust protection. Poor fuel injection. Poor handling. Window wipers that suck. Naf plastic interiors. I never get people who reminisce and pay silly money for old cars like this, it's mind boggling.
It’s not about any of those things you mentioned. It’s about how a car and it’s memories make you feel inside. You must not be a car guy or otherwise I would not have to tell you that. Didn’t you have a cat that made you feel special driving it?
Most cars of that Era were the same! The Germans better, but at a premium! Just look at the old V- dub fan base as an example of why bother??? Fast Fords are in the money now! Who would’ve thought, while welding them from back to front to pass an MOT????
Don’t forget the one & only ‘G’ reg Capri 280 Brooklands.. Originally from Dees of Croydon, it sat there until it was sold in November ‘89......
Early 80's I had a 1969 1600GT with the OHV engine in Roman Bronze.
This, and the Mk1 XR2, are my favourite classic Fords. Maybe not the quickest, but they just look so right. And lovely to drive.
Breaks my heart to see these cars now - I owned almost all of them - Most of the special models including an RS2600.
I had the chance to buy a near perfect RS3100 for $5000. Around 1985.
The 280 was born in cologne
Love this show on tv needs to be tv more love the old fords adjust the tappets they run sweet used to work on fords
I had the 7th last one(E reg) bought it off a guy at Ford. Bought it at 3 years old and 30000 miles for 8K.
Best part was his soundtrack line up 👌🏽
I’m jealous! I had a 1982 (X) 2.8i in the same colour and loved it.
It wouldn't have been the same colour mate. Brooklands green was only on the Brooklands 280s.......

That's surely a £30K car today in 2024.

I liked the 3.0L S Capri the most
likes the red one with it he S stripe and the recardo seats with netting head rests
Essex V6 right?
Same and the metal was better - My W reg 3.0S was solid but my E reg 280 Brooklands was a rust bucket.
Recaro fishnets
Perfection
when you grow up inside ford transit 91 swapped 2.8 and thrown million miles !!! you know what its up to

I don't want a Tickford hate the bodykit
Well Leslie?
It's Toby Foster
What TV program is this from? Would love to see more episodes
It's called Bangs and Cash on Freeview the Yesterday channel
Bangers & Cash!
44k miles ? £30 Grand all day. Unless it's on the Register. ( V car )
Needs a HPi Check.
If Clear,I would go £30k If i had the Space to store it.
I had a 280 with a stage 1 turbo by Turbo Technips. Far superior to the Tickford Capri
For 20 grand I'd have given the old boy cash right there and then
