What an incredibly appropriate and meaningful song for the times we are living in now!! I know it was written with the arms race of the 80’s in mind, but considering what’s going on in Russia and Ukraine now, hearing this song again is sending chills up my spine!!
Chills? Yes shiver my Timbers😳allow me to encourage your 🎉 that war? Just a little catalyst to initiate pearl production. We will press on. No extinction for us. I’ve got to hurry, other stuff to do but try “Biocentrism” Robert Lanza. Wrap your head around that, if you please.
How did this not become the megahit that Who Can It Be Now and especially Down Under were, when its just as good! Those still get played alot even now, but I never knew this song existed until 2009.
I wonder if I just missed it on the radio etc. over the years. My personal memories of hearing Down Under are from 1989-90 or so, awhile after it was already popular.
I agree with you. This is a fabulous song & right up there with their other big hits. I think the reason this wasn't a major hit was because of it's darker tone & also becuz it wasn't as playful or upbeat as "Down Under" was. But at the very least, it was still a minor hit for the band & got a fair amount of airplay back in the 80's.
Lyrics: | "It's A Mistake" - Men At Work. | Jump down the shelters to get away The boys are cockin' up their guns Tell us general, is it party time? If it is can we all come? Don't think that we don't know Don't think that we're not trying Don't think we move too slow It's no use after crying Saying It's a mistake It's a mistake It's a mistake It's a mistake After the laughter has died away And all the boys have had their fun No surface noise now, not much to say They've got the bad guys on the run Don't try to say you're sorry Don't say he drew his gun They've gone and grabbed old Ronnie He's not the only one Saying It's a mistake It's a mistake It's a mistake It's a mistake Tell us commander, what do you think? 'Cos we know that you love all that power Is it on then, are we on the brink? We wish you'd all throw in the towel We'll not fade out too soon Not in this finest hour Whistle your favorite tune We'll send a card and a flower Saying It's a mistake It's a mistake It's a mistake It's a mistake It's a mistake (it's a mistake) It's a mistake (it's a mistake) It's a mistake (it's a mistake) It's a mistake (it's a mistake) It's a mistake (it's a mistake). END.
Pwcritter I agree with you. For those too young to know, It's A Mistake expresses a feeling a lot of us had in the early 1980s, when it seemed like the bombs could drop at any moment. We really felt like some stupid mistake by the Russians or the Americans could destroy the world and we were all living on the edge of a cliff. It's A Mistake has pop appeal, but a simple enough sound that you can't really hide from the emotional heart of its message. For me that makes it poignant and effective.
Oh how I miss the 80's I fell in love and had a 7 year relationship knowing it would never work never fell in love again. These 80 songs bring back memories.59 now just gotta keep going.

IT'S A MISTAKE😃😃😃😃😃😪🤔🤫🤫😮💨😔
Noruega 🇳🇴🇳🇴
god its already been over a year of conflict
What an incredibly appropriate and meaningful song for the times we are living in now!! I know it was written with the arms race
of the 80’s in mind, but considering what’s going on in Russia and Ukraine now, hearing this song again is sending chills up my spine!!
It's will be appropriate until the world ends because as long as humans live there will be someone dropping bombs someone
I agree
BACK NOW. GOD BLESS OUR GREAT COUNTRY
🤔 Kinda like" Red Dawn" But it Will Be OUR OWN GOVERNMENT 🤨 WE MUST TAKE OUR COUNTRY
A banda mais perfeita!
A vibe é indescritível
🙌💯 AMOR 🇨🇱
How did this not become the megahit that Who Can It Be Now and especially Down Under were, when its just as good! Those still get played alot even now, but I never knew this song existed until 2009.
It was well known in Germany...dunno where u are from?
This is actually a Men at Work standard. Any fan would know, sorry you discovered it so late.
This is true. I mean it SOUNDS lighthearted and fun, but its about nuclear war...so you may be right.
A voz desse vocalista faz que voltamos no tempo altomaticamente....
Brings back a lot of memories of the summer of '83, when there was plenty to great music on FM radio.
and no commercials yet
That's quite a combo, the who, bee gees and the beach boys. You have good taste!
FC Schaeffer I wanna get back to 70' and 80' God can you hear me please take me there 😭
Dude, you just mentioned every bit of musician that i love and a huge fan too. I have them all in my playlist. Thanks for making my day ;D
FC Schaeffer ....wow!....you said it.
This is a guitar riff/tone dream
This song should have like 90M views
Lyrics: | "It's A Mistake" - Men At Work. |
Jump down the shelters to get away
The boys are cockin' up their guns
Tell us general, is it party time?
If it is can we all come?
Don't think that we don't know
Don't think that we're not trying
Don't think we move too slow
It's no use after crying
Saying
It's a mistake
It's a mistake
It's a mistake
It's a mistake
After the laughter has died away
And all the boys have had their fun
No surface noise now, not much to say
They've got the bad guys on the run
Don't try to say you're sorry
Don't say he drew his gun
They've gone and grabbed old Ronnie
He's not the only one
Saying
It's a mistake
It's a mistake
It's a mistake
It's a mistake
Tell us commander, what do you think?
'Cos we know that you love all that power
Is it on then, are we on the brink?
We wish you'd all throw in the towel
We'll not fade out too soon
Not in this finest hour
Whistle your favorite tune
We'll send a card and a flower
Saying
It's a mistake
It's a mistake
It's a mistake
It's a mistake
It's a mistake (it's a mistake)
It's a mistake (it's a mistake)
It's a mistake (it's a mistake)
It's a mistake (it's a mistake)
It's a mistake (it's a mistake). END.
Thanks
Thanks brother

Boa caio
O legal é que a música fala do contexto que o mundo vivia na época, que era a Guerra Fria EUA vs URSS.
@@Vinyboyful as músicas do men at work em geral tem uns significado daora
Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. Power to the People!
Mükemmel zeki, yetenekli, başarılı bir grup yılların eskitemeyeceği kalite.
Very underrated tune!
Strongly agree also! The best!!
For me that makes it poignant and effective.
agreed
Verdade
aye a dear tune to me growing up in the 80's

i love this song, funny, original and unique, and this video makes look war like a plaything, the humor of those guys is legendary too, !I LIKE THIS¡.
This song actually makes me feel sad. Way to convey emotion.
***** lol.
Imperial Scholar Expert That's right.
He said the song conveys a "sad" emotion and not that he had "depression". Big difference.

I wouldn't say that.
It's a perfect solo for the song. I learned it note for note a few years back. Very tasty.

I saw Men At Work in 1982 and they were amazing! Such fun and humor. RIP Greg Ham of Men At Work--you made the world laugh and sing and that is an amazing accomplishment.
Amen to that. He inspired me to be a saxophonist and I'm Native America's greatest saxophonist, thanks to Greg
I have seen this band many times in their pub days when they first started off. You knew they were going to be great.
Sou brasileiro quem curte música boa e de qualidade como essa deixa seu link brasileiros de plantão.
