      Alebrijes are not spirit guides nor are part of day of the dead traditions, however you can put anything you want at your altar. The only spirit guide of the celebration is xoloitzuintle dog (made of clay or papier maché) which according to tradition they are the companions of the soul of deads to the underworld or Mictlán.
