2018 Dodge Durango SRT vs Chevrolet Tahoe RST

- It seems today anything can be considered “sporty” even big SUVs. It’s led to the development of the two vehicles we have here, the Dodge Durango SRT and the Chevy Tahoe RST. Two giant, heavy, three-row crossovers that are somehow inspired by performance.

In reality, it’s hard to imagine either of these cars behaving anywhere near the benchmark of a true sports car, but it's better to play along, because it gives us access to some loud and enjoyable engines, not to mention a feeling of “boss-ness” on the road.

I didn't have OCD until this video. :(
At first I’m like what the hell? Then I realized it goes with the text, not the pic. I’m like omg ocd ocd ocd.
LOL I SEE IT
I noticed it instantly
Cringe
Truth Hurts dude right? First thing I noticed.
The scripted conversation is so bad
Toyota4Life yea.
So cringe omg 😆
Chevy: "Hey Dodge can I copy SRT?"
Dodge: "Yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look like you copied"
Chevy: "Ok I named mine RST"
U ever heard of a camaro rs,cruze rs, or blazer rs. Chevy been on that rs shit bruh which is rally sport. They jus threw the t on the end of the Tahoe which im sure stands for truck
Lmao, "rst" nominclature dates back to the c10 pick up.
@@coreyfresh7249 It is Rally Sport Truck. Oddly enough the Silverado RST doesn't get the 6.2L till next year.
@@chrisrhone27 so ford copied it for both the rs and the st
Dodge/Ford: “Just use STD. It suits you better.”
The 5.3 is literally one of the best truck engines ever made tf
Completely agree they go over 200,000 miles easy
165000 so far on mine
You mean the LM7 5.3
@@Lu-e that one good as well the l83 as well just needs afm delete
reliable yea, fast and powerful? nope.
They don't race them, I just saved you 14min.
Thank you. I made it to 5:34 before I found your comment. I don't think I could handle 14 minutes listening to them talk.
like watching a bad high school play
quickmaxwellmaxwell plays 😂😂😂
I know. I’m waiting for the musical number hahaha
These guys are not good reviewers...They need to watch straight pipes channel on how it's done right.
I'm so proud of the straight pipes man,...they started out not long ago and they now rule.
I disagree. Love Straight Pipes too but these guys aren't bad at all! Give them time they'll figure it out.
I loved Straight Pipes review of the Durango, they said the back leg room was great, but Tahoe fan boy here said there wasn't any room
Funny you say that, they’re actually driving on the exact same roads, where the straight pipes film. Where “cliche corner” is at
Straight pipe=The perfect car channel in my opinion
Tho you’re thelling me this thing is thuper thuper fath
Mark Simeon 😂😂😂 glad I ain’t the only one
Lmfao I'm dying !!

Attention GM, make a modern Syclone & Typhoon.
They'll probably ruin it like bronco by designing it like a car putting a 1.5l turbo in it.
They are with the Syclone.
The Syclone is back...
@@tskraj3190 They are not. An aftermarket company is doing a few hundred of them.
GM only makes cars ........ noone wants!
I met a guy who just bought a Durango because the dealer told him it could tow 8000 lbs, he said it was the most dangerous tow he had ever been on, gave it back to the dealer and got a RAM Rebel, and no more towing troubles.
I gave a Ram 1500 with 3.92 gears and limited slip. I also have a Hellcat Durango. Both tow great. the truck has a 12,000 pound tow capacity and the Durango has a tow capacity of 8,700 pounds! The Durango drives like a taught performance car. The truck is the air suspension model and drives like you are gliding on a cloud!
How are you gonna make a vs on sport SUV’s and not line them up and run in a drag? Waste of time
I couldn't believe NO BURNOUTS!!
They don't! I'm out.
You two should be reviewing Ford focuses or VW Beetles.
0:24 I would've DIED if he came flying through frame XD
The +/- selector in the Tahoe is not intended to be operated like a manual paddle shifter, it is a range selector. You can select a gear, and the truck will shift normally from first to the selected gear and stay in that gear. Read the owner's manual page 236.
Durango all the way for me. Love that 392/8-speed powertrain.
Deadass just was like
Joe: “SRT sounds good bro”
Terry: “Yeah it does......”
Joe: “let’s put RST on the Tahoe!”
Terry: “Joe that’s srt mixed around.”
Joe: “Nobody will know terry.”
The Tahoe looks good af
Lol tiny 3rd row in Durango. I'm 6'2" and I can get back there and sit without a problem
Sylvester Harris they clearly don't know what they're talking about. Durango has one of the best 3rd row for its class.
right I'm 6'1 and it's crazy comfortable to me to
The tahoe has a terrible third row not the Durango
Nothing on the market messing with Durango. BMW and Mercs Aside
The Tahoe’s and suburban’s third row leg and feet room for the size, sucks!
“Yeah I watch car reviews for the acting.”
Dodge all the way. Better looking, better third row, and sounds way better.
Agreed 100%
I 2nd that notion
I agree even tho I don't have a new new Durango I have 03 it's on my Paige has flowmaster super 40 4.7 l v8 me and my sister live durangos
You got that right it has a hemi v8 or v6
Agreed
Did you really just complain about have control over your car , and if we are talking about sport truck the dodge definitely wins , that Chevy is just a family truck with a big engine nothing makes it a sport.
5 months ago when I was looking for a SUV for the family I went with the Durango. What I've found was it held its value alot more and the cost was much less. Some of the Escalades we liked at was over $89k. Some reaching $100k. To me that was insane. After seeing how much they declined in price and about 5 master mechanics telling my about them I stayed far away. We seen Yukon and Escalades that was only nine months old at half of what they retailed for. They decline faster then a BMW and I'm a bimmer fan.
I don't understand people who buy the chevy full size suvs without having 6 kids
@@nitricwave6943 lots of room is about it. That and towing capacity.
@@nitricwave6943 I can have sex where ever I want to lol
Scripted convo was really painful
He's the sensible, responsible one and he's that friend that is a rush addict, but makes life so damn entertaining. Person one is the Tahoe, and person two is the Durango in a nutshell
Guys, there’s leather and a nice roof liner but the build quality of the Durango is nowhere near the quality of the Tahoe. You’re paying for refinement in the GM and reliability.
🤣
XD GM RELIABILITY. GOOD JOKE
If you want a nice quiet grocery getter or inoffensive carpooler, the Tahoe is the way to go. If you’re not worried about waking up your neighbor at 7am and want to actually enjoy driving, it’s SRT without apology.
Are they ripping off "Straight Pipes" driving through Cliche Corner? 🤔🤔🤔
J High I noticed the same thing instantly. They should of got a shout out!
LMAO literally came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed that.
Kbb is doing it with the visor test
IKR
Yes
Dodge Durango obviously wins
That's tahoe is a very handsome truck. But the interior isn't sporty. I say it's the better truck for a family without having to sacrifice shortness but for what the video is about the Durango is the clear winner.
I like the idea of the RST Tahoe but Im a little surprised at the power its making... thought it would have been more impressive numbers..
Both of those aforementioned engines are badass.
This man is high for just saying the 5.3 was never good
Junk
It's not, it may be somewhat reliable but it's so underpowered
Hasenfeffer1 how
Cue sound...toilet flushing
Hasenfeffer1 it sounds nothing like that
Felt like i was watching Daffy duck and bugs bunny car review 😂😂
Driver of the tahoe didnt do much of a good job on selling the performance side of the vehicle
I will tell you real world vehicle to vehicle the Dodge will spend 2 times more the amount of time in the shop than the Chevy long term. Wiring, issues, transmission issues, rear end issues plague the Dodge. There is a real reason Mercedes sold Dodge to Fiat. QC issues abound.
Stop the lying...
Marco A. Hinojosa lol
When the tahoe was brand new in what 14 and the durango had went through a redesign I was a 6 foot 300lbs guy and I was definitely more comfortable in the durangos 3rd row
The 2021 tahoe is now the suv with the best third row to the independent rear suspension so it has so much extra space , even 6 foot people and above can fit in the third row no now comfortable. I had to trade my Durango rt in for a Tahoe rst and it's so much more spacious and comfortable while still being fast .
@@sirspeedsalot Yeah the old tahoe with the live rear axle took up a lot of room in the ones before the independent suspension, I will say the wagoneer and grand wagoneer has decent 3 row too.
The 2018 Lincoln Navigator 0-60 acceleration rating was clocked at 5.4 second for the standard length and 5.5 second for the longer length.
People are really complaining about a dinosaur 5.3 engine 😂😂😂
What bro my Tahoe is a 2017 with a 6.3 motor ive beaten 5.0
New pursuit package for the Tahoe... I wouldn't mind it at ALL!
Bids out $6000 higher than the V8 Durango Pursuit with lower performance. The Durango was the big winner in the 2020 police vehicle sales race.
Would have been a interesting review if they knew how to do one 🤔
Still rather have the Tahoe’s reliability and resale value. Especially if you’re buying a family vehicle that needs to take a pounding and last a long time considering you’re spending over $60 grand
This is one of the most cringey reviews I've ever watched in my life. Absolutely terrible!
And here is the other kicker. Put a cold air intake and a full exhaust with a tune on the 6.2 and it will have more HP than the dodge
3:20. You ever been in a Truck/SUV before? Lmao
Why tf did you put the title in opposite sides🤣🤣🤣
David Betancourt he’s drunk
Roasted HD Nah he was born as a degenerate
😂😂😂😂
Im 6.1 and fit perfectly in the 3rd row, guys pleeeeease... Tahoe ( appears to be bigger )
Tahoe = buy Durango = lease. Both gorgeous trucks not in the same class. Tahoe is full size Durango is midsize
Buy, Durango.
Lease, Tahoe.
Mario L tahoe is a truck, durango is a crossover, you are correct they are not in the same class
elai314 the Durango is not a cross over. It is body on frame. Its a mid size suv.
David N the Durango will fall apart quick. First few years I would rather take the Durango after that the Tahoe.
Mario L the first two generations of the durango were body on frame, the current durango is unibody, look it up if you don't believe me
Chevy just needs to grow some balls and make a trim package that give you the LT4 out of the C7 ZR1
Obviously you don't know Chevy? It's the Value Brand and not up to the others who my have better interiors options.. If you want those options move up to Cadillac, Buick or GMC...
QuietStormX they all have the same interior honesty.
@@Jonathan-tb6fmYou get different features each Make, brand..
Yeah they're all the plastic pieces with different prices. GM and all their brand names make complete crap.
@@chingo4958 GM has 4 Brands that are doing really well...
Took both an RST and SRT out for test drives... The SRT is hands down the better of the two for 2020 model year (yes, the SRT has a trailer brake now). We now are the owners of a brand new 2020 Durango SRT! Took it on our vacation to Colorado, just an absolutely awesome vehicle in every regard! Thank you DODGE for building a fun family hauler! The RST on the other hand, even with the 6.2L was not fun to drive, had a horrible third row, and the interior quality sucked compared to the SRT.
Just wait a couple years get one of these used for 40k. LOL
They said the Durango SRT cannot so a 4-wheel burnout? Have they not seen that one video? Honestly I would prefer a 4wheel burnout than a 2 wheel one, looks a hell of a lot cooler
Apparently these guys have not seen that vid
That's was not a true burn out. They had the Durango hooked up to a semi. It was mentioned by an engineer from the SRT division in a subsequently released video by TFL car.
The durango and the jeeps they've done that on in AWD have been anchored. What he fails to mention though is that you can force RWD on the durango. If you get a tazer, the software will force it. Or you could go the cheap route and pull the fuse.
2:24 I admit that the 6.2 is a lot better then the 5.3 but the 5.3 is still a very good v8
The 5.3 is pathetic
The Tahoe third row seats are tiny and uncomfortable my grandma has 2015 escalade and the third row is small
77k. No thanks. Buy a real sports car.
gzyang1986 or a hellcat 😎😎😎
Smh why would anyone buy an suv without kids.......
This is family without compromise......
Not single guy looking for speed....
I tow my track cars and the wife takes all 4 kids out when she feels like it.....
Wrong comment for the wrong target idea.
Jman Gaming or a cts v 😊

Well then Happy Birthdate Angel!!
We know who wears the pants in the relationship THE GUY WITH THE SRT
I will take the Tahoe, thank you very much
Wtf😶its not a truck its a damn suv and if im correct the durango is technically a crossover
Your right, but people have different names for it.
@@afrosteph8416 but its just blatantly incorrect and there is a pretty big difference.
@@goatedkota430 Yes I know. But what do you call a Semi? A truck? Its right and wrong.
For another instance. A Charger hellcat.
People call it a sedan. A muscle and sports.
Stephan Joseph ive never heard it called a sedan but that would be very cringe
Also a semi is by definition a truck because of the body on frame design
@@goatedkota430 well nah duh. And physically just be deaf. I've heard it be called a sedan sumtimesm
I can’t wait for Mahk to get a hold of this commercial. The SRT hands down is the better buy. More bang for your buck. The Chevy should be like that in the standard trim, not the high end model. And the want $75k for that when the SRT is in the mid $60’s.
I believe this SRT Durango can do a 4 wheel burnout....
Dodge did it when they made a teaser for this SUV
“Thith is a sporth truckth!”

The thumbnail is wrong. The RST is on the left and the dodge is on the right.
But will the Durango live longer nope cuz it’s a dodge
And the chevy will break down in less than 7 years because GM
CHEVY NEVER LAST THERE PURE JUNK
Actually we had a 2002 Durango and it lasted 12 years before dying in a car accident
Maybe we were lucky to get a well built one.
Durango and Tahoe both last a long time but they must be kept cool. Trans coolers, all aluminum radiators 160 (in the south) or 180 stats go a long way to getting these vehicles to last. Of course, toyotas stock run cool but their parts are more expensive and aftermarket parts aren't there esp compared to SRT Durango. Go Dodge!
The whole point of the SRT Durango is not to do burnouts. Quit being childish.
I have a Durango SRT and i am currently driving a rental Tahoe working in another state and the 5.3 is a great engine. Having previously owned a 5.7 RT Durango its almost on parr with it. The Tahoe is more truck like. The Durango is slim and more agile. I wouldnt call it a troublesome engine its great im actually amazed its from a 5.3 not a 5.7 or 6.0.
YEAH GUYS THE “Shhhiix point two liter, sssshhham found in the ssshhhh L-one!”
Get a new ssshhpokessss person people....
Like a QVC presentation on a vacuum cleaner
The Tahoe is more comparable to the durango r/t
Durango don't value nothing in 3 year you can get it under 10k under 100k miles
True but don't tell them, 🤐 let them buy it and lose 60k in 3 years. People are so dumb that they'll go and get into a deeper debt by trading it in and getting a newer truck. Mean while at manheim 10k - 20k is a good deal only to be sold as a low mileage used vehicle for 25k and round and round they go.
Are these filmed in Ontario, Canada?
You guys ever hear of dollar shave club?
padistedor tou ever heard of a better profile pic
Patrick Garoutte if it annoys you then it is working just fine.
Not everyone wants to have a shaved face.
Do you want people to say "Your profile pic matches your comment" ?
FBl wouldn’t bother me at all since my profile pic isn’t me. Love how much it annoys everyone though.
If he shits himself in a Durango srt he’d have heart attack in a trackhawk

For some weird reasons iihs does not test these trucks. I see the suburb, Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade every where!
Those are all super popular SUVs! Thanks for watching!

Besides 6.2 bigger heavier truck compared to a 6.4 smaller lighter truck is a bad line up
2018 Dodge Durango SRT vs 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST
The Durango looks fasthh
The Durango looks like a mini van from the back. Even my daughter thought it was a mini van..
But a crazy fast mini van
Don’t go too scripted, we’re not watching a staged supposed reality show. You guys don’t seem natural in your reviews. I know you have to have professionalism and it’s a reputable channel but it comes off cold and many cringe moments, be natural in your reviews it’s ok to wing it were in 2018.
Thank god somebody made a video with battle of suv
Cool cars but they fuckin boring 🙄
The Durango is a Sport Crossover, the Tahoe is a sport truck.
@Jonathan Losito it's still a crossover, as it's not body-on-frame. Size doesn't matter, but construction does. The Range Rover is also a crossover.
Compare the Durango to the Tahoe RST with the HPE800 upgrade and I bet it'll take off on it like it did racing the Hellcat.
