Growing up we used to travel from Utah to so cal often. My parents had a Toyota Corolla that actually rolled over the one million mile marker on one of the holiday trips . When we moved to SLC I remember waking up super early to help with the paper route before school years before the historic reset. Anyway the car was eventually sold and recall seeing it functional on the road maybe a year and a half later. ,😁 Pretty cool we thought. Still do actually. 😎😎Too cool
Thelem with EVs is the infrastructure needed to charge them. Its not there, Power Companies arent updating the Grid to be able to charge not even the EVs alredy on the roads, let alone everyone driving an EV.
@@Clever_Handle_these days the stakes are much more dire. Who wants to plow 100k into a 1st generation EV that has no range for trips and takes hours or days to recharge? That’s if a charging station is available within that low battery life range. Especially glaring this past winter where we are up north, lots of EVs were left stranded and had to be towed. Charging stations were overwhelmed and batteries wouldn’t charge anyway because they were too cold
@@kiwionarope I have had no problems at all charging my EV. I plug it in when I get home at night, and I wake up in the morning with a full charge, and at a cost 50% less than what it cost me to fuel up my ICE vehicle previously. As for the charging infrastructure, that is advancing rapidly, and is not at all a concern now, and won’t be in the future either. In fact, the cost to charge is already considerably lower than gas, and will be even cheaper in the future.
@@patcady310 EV’s charge just fine in the northeast during the winter. And while mine is limited to 320 miles on a full charge, that is more than enough to get me to and from my destination 99% of the time without needing to charge. For the other 1%, minor planning is all it takes. As for the issue you mention about people getting stranded, that was at the time of the eclipse, and it wasn’t the problem the media made it sound like. Keep in mind that the media wants you to believe a certain narrative for various reasons, and if you rely on the mainstream media for much of anything you will be terribly misinformed about most things. And your $100k gen1 claims are way off as well. I bought my Model Y new for about the cost of a Toyota CRV, it is considerably less expensive to maintain and to charge, it is the safest vehicle ever crash tested (by a wide margin), and Tesla’s build quality is excellent after many years of experience manufacturing vehicles. The cost of producing these vehicles is also going down quickly, and there will be far less expensive options in the very near future. The Model Y is the best selling car in the world. The Cybertruck is now outselling the Ford F150, and as the vehicles get less expensive very soon, ICE vehicles will mostly go away. Perhaps never completely, but they will go the way of the horse and buggy.
Remember the time that cassette radios were considered an extra? That's what i want. A bare minimal car. No electrical windows, no computers, no AC, no folding chairs, no entertainment stations, no sparkling rims, no nothing. Just a truck with the simplest diesel engine that would last 500km with absolutely minimal maintenance. A 15K car.
People don't have the money to pay.what with the inflation and all. Everytime u turn around some bill goes up . People gotta eat not ride around in a new car.
This is because of the HUGE influx of "migrants" into the US in the past several years. Many are quite wealthy and are helping to run up the price on newer vehicles. Look at all the administrators in all of the hospitals, universities, schools, and corporations. Their last names don't end in "Smith" or "Jones" etc. like they used to.
If it weren’t for tariffs on Chinese EVs, A lot more Americans could afford to buy cars. They have superior battery technology. Other countries can’t compete.
Once people accept the fact that they are not gonna save the earth and the government stops mandating American citizens to subsidize this big lie, I agree that then they will find a place.
I know this a car channel, but the United States needs to work on their public transit. No matter what car a person is in, many commutes are horrendous. Who wants to spend 2 hours in stop and go traffic?
@@barryrobbins7694 who wants to wait 2 hours for a bus? What do you do after hours when the bus service stops? Screw buses. I hate them. They create more problems than they solve. They should get rid of buses and use robotaxis instead.

Correct. You want a car that ADDAPTS to physical world not a piece of over-engineering crap, made for other to make money.. Type planned obsolesence on internet and find out more..
All kidding aside, Scotty is partially responsible for the fall of the auto makers. He had educated more people directly or by word of mouth on the ins and outs of the industry. The consumer is getting smarter and it shows thanks to this guy.😊😊😊
Nobody wants to take a risk on a battery pack that is a structural part of the frame, if there is an accident. Replacing a battery pack is cost prohibitive.

What people want: A product fit for purpose which is cheaper to run/use/maintain than their previous product and is at least as functional as the one it replaced.
Scotty your EV hate is getting Old .. not all are failures there are a few good ones. Check the ICE cars that have come and gone because they were crap. People have a short memory 😮
Scotty say's "EV's are catching fire, Rubicon's aren't selling, all heck is breaking loose and now I'm really mad because you missed my video and didn't ring my bell".
Scottie, good stuff in this video. I am an electronics technician and there are two types of problems with wiring. Of course everyone calls both of them a 'short', however, a short is when one wire is touching something else like ground or another wire. These can cause damage easily to computers, sensors and other things. The other type of problem is an 'open'. This is when a wire or connector is broken and does make contact. They can cause damage, but it is not as common as with a short. These usually just cause something to not work or not send data or voltage to the system. I like your videos. Keep up the good work. This time I thought you had kicked the bucket, but thank heavens it was just EVs. 😂
You are trying to undertand Scotty literally which is wrong.. Maybe, maybe.. he is trying to say that (newer) cars are "falling SHORT". Is that more accurate, for the oicture presented in his video?
Good for you Scotty. EV's are total "Pixi dust" and the worst thing one can do to the environment. The only green thing about EV's is the Greenback Dollar. LOL.
My Mom just got a new Hylander. They told her at the dealership to avoid hitting the Toyota emblem in the grille on anything because it contains the "brain" ecu. They said it would cost $10,000-15,000 to replace. That's wild to me. Old Toyota would have found a better place back in the day. Maybe there is not one for what it monitors.
@@jeffshadow2407 See my comment below; the Dodge Magnum wagon was a Mercedes-Benz idea, convinced that they could sell these into Europe. They never made it due to quality. Instead, when I lived in Germany, I had a Mercedes-Benz AMG E55 estate company car, blisteringly fast on our trips from Berlin to Rome and Paris, but steady as a rock and quiet as library.
I was going through the comments, because there's usually some Tesla fan boys ready to fight online about it, how good they are in spite of how bad they really are. "They're wonderfully reliable and I buy a new one every two years"
@@troy3456789there are a bunch of Teslas with over 250k miles. Most batteries outlast the cars. I don’t go to gas stations anymore. 🤷🏾♂️. I used to do three oil changes every 3-6months. Now I just do my truck. An EV for daily is awesome.
It's a case of people having a notion of "the future" from science fiction and trying to force that into reality. Never mind that they aren't as good, I want a car that drives itself, takes voice commands, and talks to me to keep me company. Computer, open the door to holodeck 3.
GM still owes the federal government $11 billion. Oil companies get tax breaks. Oil companies also don’t pay for externalities such as damage to health, the environment, etc. Americans conservatively spend $5 trillion every year to travel by car. A chunk of that is infrastructure. If everyone had to pay for their per mile travel expenses in real time, a lot more people would be riding bicycles and public transit.
On that honda Vtec solenoid/ spool valve, drain the oil. There are 3 -10mm bolts on the back of the valve located on the passenger side back of the cylinder head. Remove the connectors from the oil pressure sensor and vtec solenoid sensor, and then the 3 10mm bolts. From the dealer you can get the filter gasket, it looks like a snowman waving hello, sometimes year specific. Replace that cause the filter screen plugs up. Careful, removal, and tightening of the 3 bolts is critical, for they will snap off in the cylinder head if over-tightened. Sometimes, the entire replacement of the solenoid is required.refill the oil OBD 2 it after, this should correct the limp mode. Unless it's a wiring issue like you mentioned. I understand that some people aren't mechanically inclined. Hope this helps .There are also some videos on RUclips that explain this better. But this worked for me.
You are always complaining about the tacomas built in mexico but look at the tundras built in the US, they need to have the engines replaced, tacomas don't have that major of a problem
Battery operated Tools and Bicycles are Great, I have a Battery Operated Hedge Trimmer that will cut 30 mins. worth of Trimming Hedges on 1/3 chg.--Love it...
As one dealer told me- It's hard as fk to upsell a customer when it comes to EVs. The biggest factors being engine noise and engine vibration. Every EV eliminates both. Upgrade the suspension and you better be pretty damn convincing as to justifying the upper models.
It’s pretty simple. If our government was truly serious about making electric vehicles the standard, they’d change the entire fleet of postal trucks to EV’s to set the standard for society. They haven’t done it so that’s all we need to know about EV’s.
With the state of the industry, the only solution is to lease your vehicles and only keep them as long as they are under warranty and then turn them back in and get another new one. I would never trust any of the manufacturers of any vehicle that it would last six-ten years without having some major expense, not covered by a manufacturer warranty.
I am Ford Battery Repair Certified they do give codes to diagnose concerns. I have replaced battery cells in both the mustang and f 150. Unfortunately transitioning to new technology has its growing pains. First off remember the complaints of car guys when fuel injection came out. The technician shortage is a real phenomenon. Alot of techs have not wanted to progress in learning new technology. So you get alot of c techs and b techs but not alot of a techs. The a techs get overwhelmed with warranty work while all the other techs fix used cars with inflated labor times. Warranty times are break even or at best make a few extra hours on a flat rate pay system. At my dealer I have already seen 4 guys leave and 1 move up to the truck shop. This year. Along with a couple others close to retirement.
Meanwhile, an old 2021 GEN2 Tundra with an ancient 6 spd transmission and a V8 sells for as much, if not MORE, than it did new. People just want trucks that last. We don’t care so much about shaving .3 seconds off 0 - 60 or 1 - 2 mpg more. Not if it’s gonna break and not even the dealer’s best techs can fix it right.
Ford, and most other manufacturers, have no choice but to give up on EV’s because they simply aren’t capable of making anything remotely desirable without losing tens of thousands of dollars per vehicle. The problem is that Ford and others are simply kicking the can down the road, and will be forced out of business fairly soon regardless of which direction they choose to go in. The unfortunate reality is that nearly all manufacturers were far too late to the party, and as a result the party will simply continue without them. EV’s won’t necessarily have any meaningful effect on the environment, as many seem to think they will, but they are simply much better than ICE vehicles. I got my first EV in June, not because fossil fuels concern me, but because of: - Much better performance. - Much lower cost of maintenance (tire rotations and tires are mostly it) - Much lower cost to operate (charging each month costs more than 50% less than gassing up). - Waking up every morning with a full charge. - The Model Y being the safest car ever crash tested. I love muscle cars and classic hot rods as much as most, but EV’s are the (near) future, whether you like it or not, and those who won’t, or can’t adapt will go away. My current EV is infinitely better than any ICE vehicle I have ever owned over the last 40+ years, and my ICE days are over for good.
If you are charging north of $50,000 on any EV vehicle, you aren’t going to sell them. Period. Ford had the right strategy with the Mach-E and F-150 Lightening. Use established brands, price them competitively to where someone can actually afford them at a reasonable rate. Hell the success of the Ford Maverick is proof of the concept. People want fuel efficient cars and trucks that are beyond just the standard gas vehicles. They need to be able to afford them though. No one is spending $90k on a Ford or Chevy pickup. The audience for those vehicles would never consider that pricing. If we didn’t have the supply chain issues and high interest rates from the pandemic Ford’s line would have taken off.
Scotty your spot on with mfgrs these days, there is barely anything on the lots I would even consider anymore, mainly I would consider Toyota trucks and SUV's, or Some Hondas. Even Toyota is going south with extreme prices for the new Tacoma, with only a 4 cyl turbo or hybrid engine, nuts. I am glad I bought my 22 4Runner.
"By the shore of Gitche Gumee, by the shining Big-Sea-Water, at the doorway of his wigwam, in the pleasant Summer morning, Hiawatha stood and waited. Fare thee well Hiawatha. Fare thee well oh Mighty Warrior!."
@@DarkForce2024the parts issue isn’t an EV issue, it’s a car manufactures exploiting the fact that EVs aren’t included in existing right to repair laws
I remember around 2012 my uncle who builds houses for a living would only use plug in power tools. Go to a work sight now and all you see him use is cordless tools. Give EV about 10 more years and we will see the same thing with gas cars.
Good news. I was worried. I've enjoyed watching the channel and picked up some pointers over the years. I've also avoided buying a few bad cars along the way.

Maybe was he is trying ti sell is, they are "falling SHORT".
...Is that accurate enough?
My 2005 Camry V6 has run clocked 300,000 Miles and still runs like a clock !
Ticks loudly and only goes a few inches per hour? LOL
It can cough and fart as it wishes, if it gets 300,000 miles plus! It’s a Yoytoda!
Growing up we used to travel from Utah to so cal often. My parents had a Toyota Corolla that actually rolled over the one million mile marker on one of the holiday trips . When we moved to SLC I remember waking up super early to help with the paper route before school years before the historic reset.
Anyway the car was eventually sold and recall seeing it functional on the road maybe a year and a half later. ,😁
Pretty cool we thought. Still do actually.
😎😎Too cool
The problem with electric trucks is the price not the tech 90k around where I live is a house not a car
Problem is with EV's, whoever wants one, already has one... and those are the only folks buying new EV's! No one else wants that trash!
Every time I see the RIP Scotty label I get scared. I love him. Whew.

Just a truck with the simplest diesel engine that would last 500km with absolutely minimal maintenance. A 15K car.

Cars cost more money now than 5 years ago no matter how it's powered. I'd rather buy a bicycle than monthly payments
Bicycle U said!?
...Have you compared the price of the bicyles 5 years ago?
If it weren’t for tariffs on Chinese EVs, A lot more Americans could afford to buy cars. They have superior battery technology. Other countries can’t compete.
Scotty, you've R.I.P'd more times than WILE E. COYOTE !
I still think small electric commuters have their place in our society. Never understood the push for big EVs. They just don't make sense.
Once people accept the fact that they are not gonna save the earth and the government stops mandating American citizens to subsidize this big lie, I agree that then they will find a place.
An electric Smart car would be just fine
My Tesla is perfect for commuting and road trips.
I took the day off work tomorrow to mourn. Thanks for everything ,Scotty!
If Ford was making a profit , maybe they could pay the Federal Government with EV's
Having worked for the government, it depresses me how correct this is

I've invented the vacuum tube battery but it only works with the conceptual flux capacitor. 😁
RIP, again, Scotty.
My neighbor just got rid of her hybrid jeep out of fear. Her insurance was so high and they forced her to park it in the street.
Seriously? Wow
Ur neighbor is telling too much of her business to you. Her husband really needs to talk to her. People dont need to know our business
Nobody wants their new cars. They aren't cars, they're rolling computers. I don't want that, I want a car. I want buttons, not a touch screen, and stick shift. I want to drive, not be transported; I want it to be visceral. So, I'll be keeping my 6 spd forever, I guess.
Correct. You want a car that ADDAPTS to physical world not a piece of over-engineering crap, made for other to make money..

All kidding aside, Scotty is partially responsible for the fall of the auto makers. He had educated more people directly or by word of mouth on the ins and outs of the industry. The consumer is getting smarter and it shows thanks to this guy.😊😊😊

Yup. Like my wife’s used Model 3. No oil changes. Charges at home. Quick. Great tech. Less maintenance for me.
EV..... Exploding Vehicles
Bahahahahhaaa literally
😹😹😹
Ralph Nader talked about exploding vehicles long before EV came along they were much more destructive ICE cars.

It's October 2 - Happy Birthday, Scotty!
Rest in peace Scotty😢
Got scared for a sec, I enjoy this guys knowledge of cars and repairs

Good for you Scotty. EV's are total "Pixi dust" and the worst thing one can do to the environment. The only green thing about EV's is the Greenback Dollar. LOL.

My Mom just got a new Hylander. They told her at the dealership to avoid hitting the Toyota emblem in the grille on anything because it contains the "brain" ecu. They said it would cost $10,000-15,000 to replace. That's wild to me. Old Toyota would have found a better place back in the day. Maybe there is not one for what it monitors.
The Daimler merge from hell looks like heaven compared to Stellantis
That merger gave us the Dodge Magnum wagon! We had a 2005 SXT AWD.
EVs were a short sighted idea that so many people couldn't see for some reason
I was going through the comments, because there's usually some Tesla fan boys ready to fight online about it, how good they are in spite of how bad they really are. "They're wonderfully reliable and I buy a new one every two years"

It's a case of people having a notion of "the future" from science fiction and trying to force that into reality. Never mind that they aren't as good, I want a car that drives itself, takes voice commands, and talks to me to keep me company. Computer, open the door to holodeck 3.

Get into EV production: charity based on government subsidies
Get into combustion production: business based on sound financial principles
GM still owes the federal government $11 billion. Oil companies get tax breaks. Oil companies also don’t pay for externalities such as damage to health, the environment, etc. Americans conservatively spend $5 trillion every year to travel by car. A chunk of that is infrastructure. If everyone had to pay for their per mile travel expenses in real time, a lot more people would be riding bicycles and public transit.
Diesel is the best fuel, but they somehow declared war on diesel, and just about everything else you use.
Scotty make more energy moving his hands the a wing towards 😂.
At least Scotty didn’t crap his pants

As one dealer told me- It's hard as fk to upsell a customer when it comes to EVs. The biggest factors being engine noise and engine vibration. Every EV eliminates both. Upgrade the suspension and you better be pretty damn convincing as to justifying the upper models.
Again Scotty?

Whys everyone croaking ?
I got my first EV in June, not because fossil fuels concern me, but because of:
- Much better performance.
- Much lower cost of maintenance (tire rotations and tires are mostly it)
- Much lower cost to operate (charging each month costs more than 50% less than gassing up).
Scotty is built like a old Camry he's never dying 😎
Bring back the horse for all of the “good old days … good old boys”.
Scotty your spot on with mfgrs these days, there is barely anything on the lots I would even consider anymore, mainly I would consider Toyota trucks and SUV's, or Some Hondas.
