I've done a true pacifist playthrough before i recorded any of my videos. Im redoing a lot of the undertale videos so i can make a proper sans fight video and explain things better
come on, it would have been better if you gave Toriel an opportunity to fight back, at least for a few turns, because the attacks try to get hard on genocide...
For those who are wondering why all the bosses die in one hit while most enemies take at least two hits, it's because how strong your attack is against a monster depends on how intent you are on killing them. Frisk merely sees the enemies as nuisances standing in their way, while they have genuine, burning hatred for the bosses.
@@Averagejoe9937 It's a bit complicated, but I think I figured it out. Like I said, how effective a human's attacks against a monster are depends on how DETERMINED they are to kill the monster. Well, the reason Undyne is able to withstand multiple blows is because she herself is fighting using her own DETERMINATION, and the only match for DETERMINATION is _more_ DETERMINATION. Basically, she's fighting fire with fire. Hope that clears it out.
I played genocide, used save file editing to give myself the true knife to beat undyne and then disposing of the knife afterwards did pacifist in hotland to get alphys ending.
Toriel realized that the first child that she protected is a nightmare, and she was in her way.She realized because after you kill monsters, you can distance yourself. She could realize the face, the blood, the bloodshed in your eyes. She also realized that you had the intent to kill her.Like sans said, you can increase your love (become stronger)by using your capacity to hurt. The more you kill, the more you've distance yourself. Not you, frisk. So she realized that you were a nightmare because all that capacity.
What I always thought was horrifying was THAT FACE she made when she implied that she was protecting the monsters instead of you by keeping us in the ruins.
I think the reason this was the first boss that hurt to have to kill was not only because toriel is harmless in nature, but she's the first boss that we leave a physical injury on. You haven't just turned her to dust, you fatally injured her in both her face and body and she uses her last seconds of life to come to terms with the monster you truly are, and by keeping you in the ruins, she hasn't been protecting you from the monsters, but the monsters from you.
*Heartache fades in* Me: Oh, I love this song! *literally 3 seconds later the song stops* Me: ..... Why even put the song there, Toby... WHY LITERALLY GIVE ME A HEARTACHE!?
I think that Toriel being this easy works for the story because it sets up how dangerous we are Toriel has 80 in both ATK and DEF, making her the monster with the 3rd highest attack, tied with Asgore (although Asgore was really holding back in his fight) and only beated by Mettaton Neo and Undyne the Undying She's basically the third strongest monster we encounter and we just one-shot her like she's nothing You're barely LV 4 and you're already stronger than basically every other monster No wonder everyone has to evacuate

It's not working for me, how, I killed everything in my path, and I have to hit her quite a lot, what happened Edit : if I buy the spider donut, will that change what route I'm doing
The spider donut won't change anything, but in the Genocide run you can use it to lure Muffet into a false sense of security by eating it in front of her, letting her know you donated to her cause, and she will spare you, so you can kill her off guard=) Also, you can't just kill everything in your path, you need to keep hunting everyone down until they're all dead. You'll know when you've got them all because the save points will say "determination." Soon after that, you'll get an encounter, like normal, but in this one, it will say: But nobody came. After this, the music will change. Tips: Don't approach the final boss of an area, like Papyrus, Undyne, Mettaton etc, before killing everything else. If you're having trouble finding all the monsters in Snowdin, you can keep going into the town quickly and see if the usual, cheery music is playing. If it is, that means there's still some left to kill. At one point in Snowdin, the save points will say "That comedian..." This is normal, the kill count is still there, you just can't see it. But again, you'll know when you've killed everything when the: "But nobody came" message comes up. I hope my tips help.=)
I have a question… how did you get this ending for toriel on genocide?? I’ve killed her BUT it didn’t take one hit and after she gave dialogue about how to return to the surface… LIKE HUH????
You need to literally run around and kill, kill, kill until every encounter says "But nobody came." in the text box. There's a counter whenever you save.
didn't kill everyone in the ruins so it's not genocide unfortunately. i made this mistake too. you've gotta wipe out all encounters until it says "but nobody came." in the text box. if toriel does that it's probably a neutral run rather than genocide
+intu13 -Hard Games If it took you more than 1 hit then you weren't in a genocide route, did you make sure you killed every single monster in the ruins until it popped ''but nobody came? You probably know this though.

Kill 20 enemies in the ruins and kill toriel, kill 16 enemies in Snowdin and kill papyrus, kill 18 enemies in waterfall and deal with a lengthy encounter with undyne the undying, kill 40 enemies in total at hotland and the core and finally, you kill sans, asgore and flowey.
