Honestly, genocide is bad enough, but manipulating them with emotions and then murdering them off-guard is borderline sadistic, and that's what truly makes a monster

"The Betrayal Route"
Flowey and even Chara are horrified at your sadism. They both team up like when they were children to try and stop you before you shatter the barrier - after betraying Asgore - and leave to the surface.
Chara's attacks involve knives, and Flowey's various types of plantlife, as well as weaker versions of Photoshop Flowey's attacks.
They attack one after the other, giving each other time to rest so that they can stall you.
Then they begin to lose hope and barrage you both st once. They are left tired and weak if you survive, allowing you to kill them and finish the run.
At the end, Toriel's ghost appears for the sole purpose of saying
"I'm so dissapointed in you"
And every major character you've killed shows as well.
They shake their heads in disappointment, then fade away.
Then the screen fades to black, and the game ends.
If you've done Pacifist directly before this, Flowey makes remarks about how you could have spent time together with him as Asriel.
If you've done Genocide directly before this, Chara makes remarks like "even I didn't think it would get this bad!"

ok let me explain chara isn't the villain you are chara didn't force you to go down that route you did that on your own. Chara! didn't manipulate asriel chara just wanted to free monster kind! by getting human souls. But considering the story that was told the humans seeing chara's body is what got them both killed, sure chara wasn't the best as asriel stated but they loved eachother like siblings chara makes sure you dont forget what you did even if you take their deal and start over! if you go down a pacifist route after a genocide route. and head home (without going with toriel) that photo will instead show chara and the monsters crossed out showing that YOU! will not forget what you did and chara will spend every moment reminding you of it
chara gives you one last chance to literally stop to not kill flowey/asriel turn off your game and not finish this route you have the choice to not press the button to end that dialogue!

I'm really glad this method was taken into account.
The dialogue could have just been recycled from when you'd begin with fighting in the first place, but scenes were made especially for if you went the extra mile to make them lower their guard so you could kill them more easily. Undertale is a masterpiece.

@Kirby_Super_Fan If I recall, in my run I killed 01 first, and 02 got PISSED. His attacks were much harder than usual. But not enough to give the player much trouble.

My first time I attacked Toriel during her "vulnerable" moment, and i didnt expect that she would die. I felt bad so i closed the game back to my save point and spared her that time. After leaving the ruins Flowey said he knew. I was so frightened 😭😭😭

Its easier to memorize the hard ones than ones you think you should be able to get through no issue

Genocide: Murder the entire race
Sadist: Murder everyone but on such a degree you make friends with them, only to murder them in the end.

Undertale will always be one of the most hard-hitting games for me. You’re either trying to save Asriel, shaking in fear of Omega Flowey, or forcing others to fear you. No other game has really made me feel so scared of what I could do.
And the way sans treats the player how we’ve been treating the monsters is even scarier.
I like to think that when the mini spider drops off the flower then stops, he calls you a monster and curses you out, but you can’t hear it

I killed toriel on my first play through cause I couldn't figure out to end the fight and thought that if I weakened her she would give up. I immediately reloaded and flowey called me out on it after I figured out how to get past her. It was super surreal

It's because she seems inconsequential to the player. Everyone has a life of their own, although most of the time we can't see it. For example, all we know of each other are these comments. Doesn't really mean we're inconsequential.

It's actually a bit relieving even, sort of makes the actual genocide route feel less extreme because everyone seems like an actor.

Papyrus’s death weirds me out. He’s not sad or remorse he’s just surprised. He just acts like it’s the same degree as tripping.
Maybe it’s because of his naivety, but I find it uncanny how calm he is about the experience.

Also imagine how hard Papyrus' fight would've been if he went all out like Sans does. Papyrus goes easy on you coz he doesn't wanna kill you, just capture you. So if he did intend to KILL you...
...would he be much harder than Sans? Since they use several of the same attacks, but Papyrus also uses a couple unique ones, like the bone "gates" that open and close while moving up and down in the box. I imagine that attack would be so hard if Sans were to use it.

If sans and papyrus fought as hard as possible and played by the rules, papyrus would be stronger. Sans literally has 1 attack and 1 defense, and so he cheats to be stronger. Papyrus also has his own gaster blasters and his stats are pretty high. If he was trying to kill you, you wouldn't be able to win lmao

He doesn't use them, but he has them. When you're in his room, there's a box on the floor that says "special attack." If you ask him about it, he says something like "if i used this in our fight, you would've been *blasted* to..."

If you kill Dogamy first, Dogaressa goes nuts and her attacks speed up and become heavier (and the chopping axes pull apart this time to show a heart breaking in half). She says violent things to you.
If you kill Dogaressa firet, Dogamy becomes so miserable that he can no longer attack properly. He just whimpers and waits to die next.

I like how Toriel doesn’t have a heartbroken reaction because she just met the kid for like a day. She knows both humans are the actual “monsters”and the kid could end up betraying her.
Toriel's one hits different. Seeing a loving character like her exposing how evil the player is makes the message really strong
Papyrus takes his death in a humorous light, referencing Shakespeare and trying to remain positive despite the circumstances, but in Undertale laughing when in pain is a common theme. He still believes in you, yet the damage was already done. In his last moments, Papyrus would rather hide his pain with dark humor than show vulnerability, because that would make him look uncool. People underestimate Papyrus's understanding of the world and intelligence.
Papyrus also knows about the timelines, you can find out when you go to Sans' room on pacifist.

However, it's not instant death if you aren't at 1 HP already. Granted, it's still a guaranteed death.

Even when you make an attack that has multiple hits, it just gives you the total damage. Either way, I'd consider the execution move Sans uses to be a OHK attack.

When Toriel is talking about THEM, she's not talking about Chara. It's a common misconception, but no. She's talking about the monsters outside. She mentions how she was protecting THEM instead of you by keeping you there, she means how she was protecting the monsters outside FROM you. It's a bit confusing, but yeah. She's not talking about Chara.
In the "betrayal victory" she's still talking about the monsters outside, because yeah, she hates them even though the ruins monsters also attack you.
I never once thought she was talking about Chara. I don't know why anyone would.
