    Great informative video! I found that using some plastic wrap and pressing tortillas between two cutting boards works pretty well too. I just made my own for the first time. It's so satisfying.

    Mis hijos sólo comen tortillas cuando yo misma las preparo y mi esposo ni cuenta cuantas se come 😁, es una delicia saborear tortillas hechas a mano. Gracias por compartir tu tiempo 🤗 Bendiciones 🌹

    Good tutorial. One technical point. The flip is the actual turning between the cooking stages. In other words, if you cooked both sides of a burger one time only, there would just be one flip but two stages of cooking.

    If I make them on Saturday night, what is the best way to reheat them the next day for the party?

    • @amdvAdriana
      @amdvAdriana  Год назад

      You can steam them gently until warm. Or use the oven in a low setting. In our home we like to heat them over a cast iron (with the corn husk) :)

    Thank you for the zip lock bag tip, it saved my sanity.

    • @amdvAdriana
      @amdvAdriana  2 года назад

      Erik, I'm so happy to hear! You honestly can use a produce bag too. It can give you slightly thinner tortillas but requires a little more practice taking them off. I find the zip lock bag easy to start with.

      @@amdvAdriana Thanks, I used a plate instead of a rolling pin. It worked very well after I used the zip lock bag technique

    How big of a ball, how hot of a pan?

    • @amdvAdriana
      @amdvAdriana  2 месяца назад

      Medium heat and the size depends on the size you want. My press is typical size and I usually do 32 grams per tortilla (this is the typical size for commercial tortillas). For small taco size, I would do 20 grams. For larger tortillas you could do 30 grams. Hope that helps :)

    Neat video. I cannot get my tortillas to come away from the plastic. Any suggestions? I tried wax and parchment paper also. no luck. Thanks.

      It sounds like your masa is a bit too wet. Even if you follow the exact measurements of my recipe, it can change a tad bit depending on the masa harina that you have and also the humidity levels of your kitchen. Add a little less water next time.

    • @amdvAdriana
      @amdvAdriana  3 года назад +5

      Or, add a little bit more masa harina to the dough until they don't stick anymore. With practice you will find the right balance.

    Do you grease the pan at all?

    • @amdvAdriana
      @amdvAdriana  Год назад

      Not this one because it's non-stick. I don't love non-stick but it's easier to learn on them first.

    How did they make these without plastic. Surely, they didn't have plastic in the past.

    • @amdvAdriana
      @amdvAdriana  2 года назад +3

      I love this question so much! There definitely wasn't plastic around. There is a beautiful hand technique for making the tortillas simply with the hands. My mom is still amazing at this technique but it requires much practice. I have not been able to master it by any means. In some regions of Mexico they press them down with the hand on a surface. In other regions (like where I am from) they pass the tortilla testal (the ball of masa) back and forth, quickly, until it stretches. The plastic method is obviously the modern version and a dare say soooo much easier.
