  • Following a political affront by General MacArthur's federal government, Germany has to come to grips with a slow realisation - the post-Weltkrieg order is falling apart, and our reputation as the world's greatest nation isn't quite shining as brightly as we thought. Syndicalist world revolution, the Russian's push to regain their empire, and the US' misconception of their own superiority all lead to one point - Germany stands alone.

I know this is the last thing you probably want to hear right now, Prime Minister, but German volunteers will soon be needed once again. The Ottoman Empire is expected to come under attack from the Cairo pact within a matter of months, and will see significant Egypt backed revolts from its Arab population. It is the foreign ministries opinion that the Ottoman Empire must be supported in this looming conflict. Not only does the continued stability and friendly policy of the ottomans ensure trade flow from Asia can be done without navel convoys, it also functions as a bulwark against the newly expansionist Russians.
The ministry of War reports that both the ottomans and their regional enemies possess only a weak military-industrial base, and many of their officers are inexperienced and nepotisticly promoted. For once our troops, and especially our armored divisions, may be able to act decisively. Though we should not expect effective support from the Turkish military in these operations.

The intro made me want to see a newsreel breakdown of the withdraw from the view of the McCarthur controlled media wings

That's a great idea, I might try to use reporting "from the other side" as flavour segments in the future

After Carlist forces succeeded in their offensive operations in Andalusia and took vital cities previously controlled by the legal Spanish government, including Malaga, Gibraltar and their provisional capital of Sevilla, government forces had to abandon the South and move towards defending Valencia and territories around it. In the light of the collapsing morale of the loyalists, General Günther von Kluge, head of the Imperial Expeditionary Force in Spain, ordered his armored divisions to launch an offensive against weakened armies of the CNT-FAI, hoping to break through their defensive lines and seize the center of their activity in Barcelona, thus securing Catalonia for the loyalists and ending the risk of a syndicalist victory in Spain. While during initial offensive operations at the Ebro anarchist militias were pushed back by the combined German armored and air offensive, German tanks were stopped just before Barcelona. On the edge of their supply lines and forced to fight a war in a city surrounded by mountains, the German armored force proved ineffective against Spanish guerrilla fighters.
While the battle for Barcelona was going on, Kluge got news from Valencia that Carlist forces were now approaching the city, and many members of the Spanish government were planning to surrender to the Carlist faction. Kluge realized that any further operations would be uselessas they would most likely not be supported by the Spanish army, and, with the threat of the rest of his forces being destroyed by the Carlists, he contacted Berlin in a call for help. Seeing their ally fall to repeated Carlist offensive, Germany withdrew its recognition of the previous government and instead invited a Carlist ambassador to Berlin. On arrival, this ambassador was greeted by the Kanzler himself, after which they negotiated an safe retreat of the Expeditionary Force from Spain in return for Germany switching its support to the Carlists. While both SPD and the DVLP deputies complained in the Reichstag that this is a de facto betrayal of a German ally and drew clear parallels between this incident and the Schleicher-MacArthur split, Schleicher once again emphasized the need to build a "cordon sanitaire" against syndicalist revolutionaries seeking to destabilize Germany and its allies, and that "For Germany, it's not a matter of loyalty; it's a matter of survival"

I may have made him a tad more rude than he would have been, but the sentiment felt on brand, considering that he's basically involved in a coup against the elected government at this point

@@StoriesandStrategieswithTerry No,Im just saying that your sound level should be higher in your future videos.

Ah, gotcha. I'll see what I can do, may have to split off the voice track and do some normalisation. I tend to, unfortunately, not have a very even volume level when talking, so I have to set the initial gain quite conservatively.
