Not just because of technological superiority, but also because everything was bigger and stronger than us. ... it might just give me nightmares, thinking about this.
I mean the UNSC was really good at ground battles, in fact they were probably more effective than the Covenant when it came to ground combat with troops, Marines had enough fire power to take out multiple elites by themselves and used guerrilla tactics that absolutely drove the covenant mad, but the UNSC couldn’t really do anything against 12 kilometer ships firing a laser that glassed entire planets, and that’s why they lost most of the time.
@@toby1061 Yep. The Master Chief in the books even remarks on this to himself. Every time the covenant would find a human world the same scenario would play out. And it gets even more terrifying when you realize how big a flood infection form really is. They’re about 3-4 feet tall. And they burrow into your chest. Yikes.
I can’t believe humanity in the halo universe were able to fend off billions of these guys for almost 2 decades. Even the tiny grunts are the average height of a human.
Too many people in the comments forget that the Covenant out numbered us 10-1 at least! With hundreds of millions troops and thousands if not tens of thousands of ships. While we had a only a fraction of that number at our height before the war even started. There were only ever at most a thousand or so Spartans , who used Covenant tech basically, and later some forerunner tech as well. Even with Spartans we never ever would have won the war without the great schism. Even after it we could have lost if it wasn’t for the Arbiter
Your giving humanity too much credit, you also have to remember that the hierarchs decided, pretty much at the last few days of the the war, that their most skilled and hardened fighting units were “no longer suitable to lead the war” and the elites pretty much in spite and knowing the truth of the hierarchs sided with the humans, if it weren’t for the elites humanity would’ve been totally wiped out along with all life in the universe
I can see the elites, brutes, and hunters being the heights shown on this chart. But, I feel they made the other enemies big (such as the jackals, grunts, and drones) just for the sake of shock value.
Well grunts are actually around that size if not a little bit shorter or taller. What I like about this is they capture how big their bodies are. A grunt is supposed to be almost 300lbs and I'm glad it captures just how menacing they are compared go a regular human...bear in mind that most in game marines are probably close to 5"9 - 6ft...so they're really quite big bois.
I think the grunt and drone size is correct but I think the jackal size is a little exaggerated the only reasons the grunts and droids looks small in game is because the droids are in the air and master chief is 7 foot tall so he makes the grunts look small but if you ever do an execution on a grunt you can see how big they really are
They could scale up the covalent size in ODST to give a better scale. But it felt very similar to Spartans but without recharging health. they could really do it..
Yeah. And the planet they’re from is basically a moon so even though they’re tall they’re very weak. Thats why the tend to flee combat when their shield goes down
The jackals are typically in a squat position so I could see why that scale makes them look massive, and same for grunts most of the time as well. And remember that grunts range in height from 4 foot 8 to 5 foot 6. And the other species also have dramatic size differences that we have never seen in the video games. Some hunters are 2 times the size of a spartan while others may only be a head taller, and the drones don't stand upright much and if they do then they stay in a squat position much like jackals and grunts. The video games have never included these realistic sizes and differences and they probably never will.
I think they should Re scale jackals, it’s awkward swing then by marines and master chief since they are almost as big. Just make them around a little shorter than marines since they are hunched and thinner

@@GreaterGrievobeast55 Thank you for not making me use Google.
@Montes Romero I think the prophets are tall, The only ones we see in the games are the high prophets and the H2A terminal ones seem tall
You know, playing as a Spartan doesn’t quite show you a proper height scale for the Covenant. Seeing this... no wonder the UNSC was beaten time and time again.
@@toby1061 well, that does explain why we didn’t get utterly annihilated before the events of Halo 3 could happen.
@@JACEMRYJAW We we’re getting annihilated. We almost never won at all.
@@toby1061 Yep. The Master Chief in the books even remarks on this to himself. Every time the covenant would find a human world the same scenario would play out. Marines could hold their own on the ground but once the UNSC inevitably lost the naval space battle it didn’t matter because the Covenant would just glass the planet from orbit.
@@SergeantKillGore Practically the whole premise of Halo Reach. The UNSC, and even the local insurrectionist were doing a hefty job at purging the Covenant until they got overwhelmed by the far superior Covenant fleets. Inevitably leading to the sustainment of mass casualties along with the entire loss of the planet through glassing essentially.

@@roberth8254 I'm honestly kinda disappointed that games don't include the normal height variations we'd see in a species. I mean take humans - in a room of just five people it's very likely that there will be at least 6 inches in height difference between the shortest and tallest. The shortest people tend to be around 4ftsomething and the tallest a whopping 7ft. That's insane! So I'm not totally against having really tall or short outliers. @@kaneslives generally the covenant didnt need smart generals, thats what horrifies me about the arbiter. With his tactics and advanced technology, he wiped the floor with tons of human inhabited planets. most battles humanity won were always crazy cost heavy, against covenant officers who would have probably never gone higher than sergent. the stupidity of the high prophets killed everyone.
Without the great schism especially if the arbiter stayed on the side of the covenant, humanity would have been decimated, I don’t think the Spartans would even be enough to destroy the fully unified covenant force, and god forbid if they ever got their hands on a human, that’s all life in the galaxy wiped out

They should of had master chief on there too, everyone knows he's big but I never realized he was *that* big
