My thoughts on the best pairing with the most important super in a contest mode setting. Recorded live on stream, so the video quality isn't up to par with my usual analyses, but a lot of people were asking for this. Enjoy!

9 years of destiny in my life and I’ve never come across anyone who can break the game down like this. You’re a true d2 nerd. It’s hard to watch anyone else now. Lol you’re videos are so much better in terms of information quality
Babe wake up, new Aegis video just dropped
Bae I'm up
The mele snap into heatrises pheonix dive on an enemy also basically guarentees a mele proc for sunbracers as the ignition counts as mele damage.
Indeed :)
Never thought that I'd fight such an intuitive yet in-depth channel on D2 builds, amazing work, very well done!
Literally just found your channel but it is everything I have wanted from an informative d2 channel keep it up king
absolutely killing it with all the content. Every time I jump on RUclips, there u are in my feed to teach me something new. GJ
Love these build videos, your explanation for these builds is the reason why I refer to your channel in my friends group as "PvE CammyCakes builds"
bro your content is too in depth i love it
Aegis with another bussing video Loving your content, keep it up
The content creation grind is real, bro even has the zyox voice
You are the absolute goat for putting these videos out❤ in aegis we trust
One of the few d2 creators you can trust. Subbed
great video. super helpful for first time contest raiders
bro your subs keep going up everyday im so happy for u
I was looking for exactly this video, of course aegis just uploaded it 5mins ago ❤
Veritys with sunshot is also a decent option, nice survivability and alot of heavy ammo generation with an exotic primary
Sunshot definitely slaps
I'm a hunter main but gonna take my warlock in the day one to be more useful - great tips, thank you fam
I'm taking my lumina build day one. But this build is what the other wedlock will be running
Glad someone with a voice is pushing this build. Minus the gloves it’s funny how often I get roasted for running this in gms and now it’s being promoted as a day one load out.
Sunbracers has been a staple build for years. People never cared cause it didn't chunk bosses.
Bumping for the algorithm for the d2 content goat
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOOWOW! what an informative and insightful video mr aegisrelic!
THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE YOUUUUU
Gotta include your story about your debt in the Hunter vid, its an essential element
Crypto, Tax Fraud, and Shell Companies: How my Delusional Dad and I Cooked Up a Devious Day 1 Hunter Build for Fellow Miscreants
Great video as always! Unfortunately, if there are no people with Aeons it should be Cenotaph Warlock (especially for the boss encounter). For everything beyond - Sunbracers is the best option
Aeons are a swap exotic yeah
Btw, if you’re using Heat Rises with Sunbracers and you’re confident in your powered melee kills, use your melee mid air (even if it’s just a little hop). You don’t even need Heat Rises active (just equipped) and those kills (and subsequent ignites) will 100% refund your melee energy, allowing you to infinitely chain Sunbracers. Equip Momentum Transfer mods on your arms and Ember of Searing if you want to guarantee this 100% refund.
Also, note that you need to be careful about what ads you kill will your melees to proc Sunbracers. If they’re already scorched by one of your grenades, Incandescent, or just some other source of scorch that isn’t your melee’s, you won’t get Sunbracers to activate if you use your melee on them. Best bet is to always use your melee on un-scorched ads.
Good tips!
Gonna try with my verglas osmio build first, and go to bracers if that fails, verglas is really nice now because fissures now gives stasis arrows
never played D1 or did a day 1 race but have done raids before and ur content is a gem appreciate ya buddy. def gonna go back to solar warlock bc of the sunbracers build
cutest d2 speedrunner
i really need that drip on warlock!! looks awesome
Just self res and use song of flame easy day one clear
Too free tbh
Honestly I think I may use strand warlock for anything I don’t need a well with.
Artefact mod that spawns a tangle on strand weapon kill. Artefact mod that spawns ammo on tangle kill. When I have armour charge my tangles do more damage when I shoot them. If my tangles get destroyed by team mates I get a boost to weapon damage. Tangle explosion cause suspend. Suspend gives me grenade ability. All threadling unravel targets which also drop another tangle. DPS encounter Necgrips/wither with bns rocket.
2 things which will make this build a lot better would be stacking on strength so if you do miss the loop you can redo it almost immediately, the melee doesnt always it. And 2nd thing would be to have a solar weapon just incase you need to do immediate solar kill
Strength is an option (or just get airborne kills) and Retraced is mentioned :P
AY, I watched this live. Word
Arc is probably going to be the way to go in the first "encounter." Most hive enemies run arc, and with Elemental Embrace, you'll be able to get a 50% damage resist bonus from Boomer enemies and Wizards.
Arc Warlock might be the best for third and fourth encounters too depending on how the changes get ironed out. Well would obviously be great for Crota, but it isn't clear if the fan favorite "cubby hole" will be available during the final encounter.
In the second encounter, Well might reign king when paired with Vesper and a class ability regen build.
Crota also seems like he'll be moving a lot, so I'd actually choose a tracking rocket over Apex/CC because it's better to get full damage than possibly miss even with a higher damage rocket.
@@therafaelalvarez He stood around doing jack shit in D1, and he barely moved in AoT. The trailer depicts him moving the entire time, hence the comment.
btw, if you need a tracking rocket, Apex gets Tracking Module in the third column, so you can run that with a Thread of Ascent situation and be better than something like Palmyra
@@life-destiny1196 This is true, but I'm not wasting time crafting another Apex, spending materials, and then possibly not even using it if I'm wrong. I'd rather just pull out my Ascendancy and call it a day. Especially when Reconstruction is way too good to give up on Apex.
For Sunbracers, if you Snap in the air, then Phoenix Dive once the projectiles actually appear, you can proc Empyrean off the Melee, which lets you make full use of the full Sunbracers time, rather than having to Dive during your timer. Just don't Dive too early, the timing is rather forgiving.
You can, but on day 1 if that melee kill isn't 100% certain I personally wouldn't go for that move
Im the only warlock user in my friend group so I think I'm going to use pheonix protocal to be able to always have those wells ready for damage or any times where you need to stand on a plate which is often in Crotas End lol
I wish they would give us sunbracers for arc maybe storm bracers granting double pulse grenades that jolt enemies and pulse longer (this would be a call back to d1) or maybe mimic sunbracers in d2 where a powered mellee kill allows you to throw multiple pulse grenades or even better aesthetically storm grandes imagine seeing 5 clouds of roaming lighting over a group of ads
You can do this with two verity’s instead not as fast spam but the increased damage makes storm grenades do a lot of damage or whatever you wanna run
I love the TheAegisRelic!!!
Awesome!
man you're really spoiling us
If I were to do it, the new crota fight would involve the team needing to work to keep the sword bearer alive, be it killing ads or doing a mechanic to allow them to wail on the boss for longer. Just a silly goofy quirky thought.
Crota is definitely being reworked to not have the swordbearer do all the damage, that kind of mechanic doesn't fly in the D2 sandbox
Important note on Sunbracer setup if you are using heat rises you should use balanced glide
I probably sound crazy but balanced glide doesn't interfere with the boosted momentum you intriniscally get during heat rises where as burst glide doesn't work well
I mention Strafe instead of Burst :)
Yo aegis! love the videos man really helps with the direction i want to go with going into day 1 but can i ask what are the alternatives for the energy trace when i do run elemental orbs: solar??
Any of the four traces released so far are fine
Thanks 🙏🙏
Strand Titan, Solar Lock then Void Hunter my 3 builds I settled on
Hey there! thanks a lot for this kind of videos Aegis (I definitely need this for my day one run), How many loadouts will you have for the day one on warlock?
Probably 6 or so
Ty
Would you recommend strand warlocks for boss encounters? Or is every warlock being on solar that worth it for survivability
Depends on your team's confidence and the boss itself, but it's something to consider
@@TheAegisRelic what would be a good strand build
Thinking of right before final stand swapping to the ranger mod as a back up debuff if for some reason void hunter messed up their cooldowns or out of tractor.
At that point the other artfiact mods won't matter.
Could be Worth but the void Hunter must mess Up bigtime If He can't even regain a smokebomb
hiya quick question why kinetic tremors over 4th times? if it’s just to clear adds around the boss would it be more appropriate to use 4th times if that isnt an issue? or would hitting 4 shots with supremacy instead of 2 throw of the damage rotation too much? thanks :)
KT is also an effective +~60% reserves bump if used correctly, and I find it to fill a niche on snipers that no other sniper does. Mag dumping an FTTC sniper with no perk is relatively low DPS and I don't think it's a good idea in general in a day 1 environment (you're never finding a boss where that sort of thing is worth it for the time you have to do damage).
Since you're suggesting double special for gally, how do you want us to approach the swap to rain of fire for a damage phase? Maybe just running the searing + icarus dash variant of sunbracers?
Also why keep Aeon's on hand if you're using Cenotaph + a trace?
Last thing, did you not mention a heavy weapon because it's assumed we'll simply have a rocket / maybe eager edge sword for tight timing?
Throw nades (if possible) > place well > swap to RoF damage loadout with new aspects > damage ends > swap back to normal encounter loadout
Aeons are useful for orange bars as well as finishing targets that another teammate has marked / no one is nearby
Yeah I cover the only three real heavy options in another video but it's pretty much sword or Apex
You should make a vid about how to swap special weapons from doing mechanics to dps as you lose a fair amount of ammo and can be tricky managing it
You really don't lose much ammo swapping between GLs and traces etc.
@Kool__Katbetter useage of abilities for killing groups is a big big thing for double special. Can you spend that ammo on 2 enemies or can you just melee them both
Very nice, prob just gonna spam wells with Phoenix Protocol lol. What Slug Shotguns should I run in my kinetic slot?
Reconstruction Heritage is basically always the play for the Kinetic slot but the Vanguard one can work too. If crit spots are especially hard to hit, Conditional Finality, Vorpal Riptide, or the new strand fusion with Controlled Burst are solid substitutes.
@@WhatLake which strand fusion? Not the Iron Banner one, no?
@@ringomandingo1015 Actually that one isn't bad with Vorpal/Autoloading, but I meant the new High Impact released with this season. I've only gotten like three so I don't blame you for not knowing about it.
any chance youd make a elem orb build? ive seen that dawn chorus is nice for scorch but i was thinking of 6 armor charges and arc orb for jolt dmg and if its better than weapon jolt for extra boss dps
Probably not
I love how this guy blew up and like half the D2 community is now watching this man's wisdom and knowledge.
I'm going to go in a team that has 3 warlocks (me being 1 of them) both others are running this type of sunbracers build but im thinking about taking a necrotic grips with thorns buff. We'll have a banner of war titan as well so theres not alot of "oh shit" supers to nuke a group of enemies. Of course ill have this build in my back pocket ready to go as well as a cenotaph for if theres champs.
As long as you have 2 warlocks and the adds are dying some of the members in a team have some liberty to run more damage oriented-options
The Sunbracers infinite restoration loop is often very reliant on staying airborne. The first encounter of Crota is all about not being able to be airborne. Seems like a curious choice. Could easily use Verity's or Battle Harmony with solar weapons instead.
Verity's + ToF healing grenades are a good idea too, but to be honest if you subbed Searing in you'd be 100% fine on Sunbracers (I'm planning on using them for day 1 Abyss)
I would be willing to say that as long as you proc restoration prior to weight of darkness x2 and you have a solar smg then you should be able to keep the restoration rolling as the thralls will be plentiful down there. Then for the bridge encounter forward you won't have this issue..... Seems like a minor thing in the overall picture but great point nonetheless
@@zigzag2370I’m not so sure. Phoenix dive might get you restoration x2 before you’re totally slowed, but you’ll be giving up the opportunity to cast rifts the whole team can use as you move from lamp to lamp. You’ll also need to guarantee kills to keep the restoration going. There were tons of adds in the maze for sure, but this is highly dependent on you getting the kills. Everyone will be spamming grenades and fighting for kills to proc their own builds. This, like many “infinite ability and healing” builds for sunbracers seems geared more towards solo play than running through a maze with 5 other guardians. Not saying it won’t be viable, but I’m very skeptical.
Umm once you proc restoration you can keep it up with solar weapons kills. Don't really need to be in the air for that. Honestly depending on how you build it out you can stay grounded very easily while using sunbracers and the restoration loop. Use a mods and fragments for melee regen off of your grenades. All you have to do is use pheonix dive one time to get the restoration and everything else will run off ability and weapons kills. You can easily get a melee back from the insane amount of grenades so you don't really need to get in the air for geat rises to give melee energy on kills anyway
If you do a lot of hops and get kills while in the air they count as kills towards increased mele energy.
But a bit annoying to do tho....
What do you think about running Starfire Protocol for day one, if you build into it you can get your nade back easily, but what im worrying about is the flexibility to run special finisher on your class item
I don't think it's a good idea even with post-buff Benevolence
I would argue that if you have multiple warlocks, the Brow is a viable option, just like the old Starfire builds so demo weapons are an option again. I find teams that have a hard time surviving usually run multiple wells.
Situational dependent on encounter but yeah it is an option
@@TheAegisRelic Agree, but if you have multiple locks, might as well have it ready. I have a feeling those knights on the other side of the bridge will be really beefy, not to mention the Wizards inside. I hope they add rally banners to the raid, but I still think Ammo could be an issue so having a top tier ability damage build in your back pocket will be needed. Now, if solar grenades stacked, you could use them, but fusions have that double punch which is hard to beat.
So in terms of preparing for dmg would I get orbs switch from sunbracers to lunafactions or something that have solar dmg mods on then dmg boss?
Yeah pretty much
Vesper Of Radius is insane
What about running a geomag user for arc souls in total damage scenarios? Maybe a solid pick for the third warlock?
If you care about ability-based total damage options there are way better options (incl. Verity's Brow fusions)
With supremacy wouldn’t rewind rounds/fourth times be better? Is kinetic tremors a much better choice?
I explicitly talk about why KT is better in the weapons video
My raiding opinion has arrived.
HUGE NOTE: Aegis mentions that for this level of content, you want the Aspect: Touch of Flames. This will help with killing stronger enemies.... however: if you use Touch of Flame, you cannot swap to Rain of Fire boots for higher DPS if your plan is to swap Touch of Flame for Icarus Dash. This swap will resulting you losing your super. Something to keep in mind for Damage Phases if you are attempting to max out your DPS.
I have a RoF Icarus loadout for finals and stuff after I place my well yeah haha
I feel like Crota will take more melee damage. With all the sword reworks, the introduction of Banner of War, the big nerfs we got to melee exotics, the nerf to one-two-punch etc…. Maybe we get a boss that takes more melee damage!
Perhaps
@@TheAegisRelic just wanted to come back to acknowledge just how right I may have been here
Yall are doing phoenix protocol dirty
Next time it shouldn't get nerfed then :)
Is acascias dejection an all right trace rifle? and what roll would you recommend?
It's fine, just my least favorite out of the 4 for a day 1, you'd be on Recon/Frenzy or Incan depending on if you're using it for Singeing procs
AEGISSSS❤
Bro, I've been doing day one since deepstone, and I never used sunbracer builds specifically because I wasn't looking down and my snaps weren't killing, so I didn't get the hype 🤣
Why did you recommend Retraced Path over Acasia's Dejection? Any reason for that.
Pre-rework had Shoot to Loot
one question: what do you do if you do not own specific DLCs and were not here during past seasons (i do not own 30th anniversary so no Gally for me) I started in season 20 and due not have any weapons seasons before that point
What weapons in particular are you missing?
Someone in your fireteam probably has Gjally, so don't panic about that one. IIRC Apex Predator requires Forsaken, but Cold Comfort is very comparable and drops from last season's dungeon. Failing both of those, Hothead and Blowout were the previous two best rockets and I'm pretty sure both are F2P (nightfall legacy focusing and crucible focusing respectively).
You could also do Tractor Cannon, which iirc is a world drop exotic?
For the trace rifles: Acasia's Dejection drops from RON and I believe you can get the Hollow Denial pattern by farming Presage. Path of Least Resistance won't be farmable until Seraph Shield comes around in the exotic rotator if I'm not mistaken, which won't be until after day 1. Retraced Path is behind Dares of Eternity.
Beyond that, I would say just substitute the next closest thing you have for whatever you're missing. Any random wave frame GL for Forbearance, any aggressive shotgun for CF/Mindbender's if you didn't get those to drop, etc
Will strand warlock still give the best dps option though. Like if your team is running 3 or 4 warlocks having 3 or 4 solar warlocks takes from the super damage?
Yeah if you have like a 6 warlock team there's no reason not to have maybe a few people on strand, this is just for core, safe builds
Thanks Aegis fantastic work
6:45 Im just here for the chat drama lol
Another option would be to run Veritys with heat rises and phoenix dive, that way you can have restoration uptime with something like fusion nades for damage.
Good option if you have teammates on Verity's
@@TheAegisRelic Exactly what I'm planning on doing for day one
noty gang rise
Would you do a new video of damage rotations in the new season?
When the meta settles more I will
Would you recommend 2 solar warlocks with veritys
If your team has the coordination to do it it's not a horrible idea
Ill save this if my team needs a warlock
I see so many subracer warlocks running around without a clue on how to use em. I think starfire turned a lot of people into meta slaves lol
Why do you have high disc and low str when you need str to get your sunbracers to proc and then disc doesn't matter?
I explicitly mention how Discipline doesn't really matter, but how Heat Rises negates the need for Strength as well, so I just threw on Discipline as a kind of whatever stat
@@TheAegisRelic yeah I asked about 10 seconds before you said it. My bad. Great video. Subscribed. Cheers.
Is it still possible to get retraced path with Shoot to loot?
No unfortunately
Will you do a video for hunters too?
Done
I love how you treat your audience like professional D2 players
16:50 i think they fixed it giving super on daybreak phoenix dive letting you stay in super infinitely
Not what I'm referring to, talking about super energy gains to charge your super not stay in it
What's that shader he's using? Important for day one!
Vanguard Unity
Sunbracers sweep
spoiling us fr
What roll on path do you use in all of these videos?
Fluted / Light / Shoot / Volt / Reload
@@TheAegisRelic Thanks
Shouldn't you be using 100 STR and not DIS since meeles = nades?
I mention that that's an option, but it doesn't really matter, because on Heat you get your melee back fairly quickly regardless of Strength
What’s the exact roll to craft for ikelos sr?
Fluted / Tac or Flared / FTTC / Fury / Handling
If you use apex for dps whats the rest of the loadout?
I have a lot of videos but generally Izi IKELOS_SR and Apex
I just hate sunbracers so much idk why. Obviously nothing is going to match Starfire but nothing else really satisfies the fantasizer in me. But regardless yeah thanks for this video.
Can anyone tell me what chest piece ornament he has on in this? It’s so good
the fortnite collab one
what shader? @@artur3306
i like warlocks
me when other subclasses(born to nova, forced to well)
Is this still viable for TFS day 1?
Fine but I'll make new stuff soon
One day voidlock will be freed from the tyranny of wellock. One day. But not today. 😢
You just got your day.
@@JustEliiii eh… *hand motion* they haven’t nerfed the damage buff, only made it so that the well isn’t going to keep you alive through everything. That’s Titan bubble now. So it’s gonna be wellock and one bubble Titan for damage and survivability in boss battles. A reverse of how things use to be. At one point, bubble was damage buff (weapons of light) and well was survival.
@@vampirelordx1 both of the void supers got a buff
@@JustEliiii I saw that, but as long as Well still gives the damage buff that it does and they do not change how Banner Titan works, Well will always be the best option for a Boss damage phase. The only time I will not be asked to swap to solar Lock is if Well is ever nerfed into unusablitity, or if there is already more then one lock in a Raid group and at that point there is a damage loss because that slot could be better filled by a Hunter on Hawk goldie/Galanor Knives or a T-crash Titan.
