Thank you for the tutorial. I love this knot. In head to head competition, it beats FG. It is a tiny bit thicker, but it doesn't cut from both sides like the FG.
Thanks, I'm always interested in braid-leader knots, but seriously - I use the double uni knot, I don't cast it thru my guides and I've never had it break. So much easier to tie, especially on the water... and I don't use up nearly the length of braid and leader material that some of these fancier knots require. But thanks for the instructional videos you do provide! I do learn a lot from them!
Thanks, JC, for this video. It took me years to figure out the FG Knot because the two rounded coloured shoelaces I was using didn't react the same way as fishing line. With the SC Knot, however, you will quickly see whether you have got it right when you pull one against the other. Either it holds or it slips. Once you get it to hold, you will note the 'crush marks' on the lace simulating the leader. So, possibly a good way to practice and get your technique working before doing it for real. So much easier to master than the FG but does require a little practice before it all fits into place.
Nice video - will practice and add to my tool box. I started off with double uni knot, added FG knot, PR knot and recently the relix knot. Can do all pretty fast without tools and have yet to seen one to break. My point - all these knots if tied properly will work just fine, just pick up one where you feel comfortable with and spend more time on fishing. For now I go with the Relix knot. Cheers all and have fun!
Hello, thank you for your video it was very clear. I practice rock fishing with 9 and 11ft rods I was using the albright knot but my leader only reaches the tip ring. With this knot can I make my leader longer so that it stays inside the rings and does not affect or break with the cast? . Casts of 2 and 3oz at 100mts or more. Thanks for your help Saludos desde Acapulco
Nice one JC! Interesting knot that I hadn't seen before. Would this work OK with a mono mainline to a heavy leader? I don't use Braid. Stay safe & well. 👍👍UK.
Great video Mate, just suggest that when cinching the knot you do so wearing gloves to get a fair bit more suck on it and don’t cut your hands. I usually use the FG finished off with a risotto knot and will give feedback on how I go chasing 1.0metre + barramundi in North Queensland Australia
I have a braid to leader knot that I’ve never had break. I’ve had the 30lb fluorocarbon break before the knot. Hit me up if you want to know. Maybe you could make a video testing the different knots or something.
JC, was going back through some saved fishing videos and found this one. Just curious, do you ever use the SC knot? I know you also did some FG knot videos. I was wondering which you stuck with. Personally, I am a FG fanboy now...
Hello JC (Rad Reeling Fishing) , I have a new Quantum PT Reliance Sz55 spinning reel and was wondering what kind of rods would fit it, my Ugly Stik GX2 7ft does not fit it and idk if my 9Ft Ugly Stik GX2 would fit it, as the reel seat on my 7ft one doesn't fit the reel. Any suggestions, tips or recommendations on good rods to use with this reel? Woul a Ugly Stik catfish, Ugly Stik Bigwater or the Shimano Saguaro spinning rod accommodate it and what is the best optimal Mono LB test to use for the reel and corresponding rod? Thank You, and love your videos!!!!! Keep it Up!!
Interesting knot, but did you test it, either on the scale or against other knots? Just asking because too many suggested knots are supplied without objective evidence and with only anecdotes like "it's never failed me yet," "I've never lost a fish," or simply "it's 100%."
Hey JC I am a bass fisherman so my question is. I use like 20lb braid to a 8lb Fluorocarbon leader. Do you think this knot will work? At this time I tie a FG knot but this looks easier.
It is not similar in diameter at all. A uni to uni will clank through the eyes of a fishing rod and sometimes even get hung on the eyes of the rod. Also a uni to uni is a terrible knot for heavy leader lines, where the SC knot works great with heavy leader.
Hey JC or anyone that comes across this, just wondering if you've been using this and do you prefer it over or like it better than the FG knot? Any difference in casting as far as you can tell?
I've used this knot a lot since making this video. It's one thickness of braid thicker than the FG, so there's that much more resistance. It's a great knot for sure. I like the FG a bit more because it is thinner.
@@RadReelingFishing thanks for the response. I've been using the FG for a couple years now and had been seeing this knot a lot lately and I figured with ad much fishing as you do you would definitely have an opinion on it by now. Think I'll stick with the FG
It was tested, what do you think of the results: ruclips.net/video/WLYzJfK0SOE/видео.html you'll notice the FG knot failed twice and the SC never failed. I'd love to hear what you think of the test results.
Great looking knot but I would drop the glue, the reaction on the glue drying weakens the line. From what I saw your knot shouldn't come undone without the glue anyway
Interesting, I found it's very important to use 30 wraps. With leader that thin a uni to uni is easy and will be thin enough to slide through the guides easily.
@@RadReelingFishing Perhaps but it is very reminiscent of the Yucatan. Regardless, this SC knot works well and your tutorial is very clear. For newbies, with this type of finger trap type knot, cinching the line down very, very snugly is key. The braid has to cleat into the much thicker mono or fluoro leader in order to work.
Why is the fg knot constantly labeled as some impossible knot to tie. You just wrap the leader around the main line with tension on it. Close it how you will 🤷♂️
doesn't work with lighter lines. After wasting an hour trying to tie such an "easy" knot I gave up. Leader always pulled through couldn't every get it to cinch up.
I always use a uni to uni for lighter lines. The smallest leader line I connect with this knot is 25 lb test connected to 15 lb braid. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Man I just figured out the FG using the fast method you brought to our attention.... Now I "have" to learn a "new" super duper knot! O man!
Thanks JC, great tutorial again, loved your FG tutorial also, from what I have seen it's the best method for tying an FG, and I have seen a lot.
Good work mate. That’s the best demo I’ve seen, very descriptive.
Thank you for the tutorial. I love this knot. In head to head competition, it beats FG. It is a tiny bit thicker, but it doesn't cut from both sides like the FG.
Good tutorial, just got through learning the FG. This looks easier.

Going to sit down later and give this a try, thanks JC
Omg quick easy and easy to learn
Looks like more steps than the fast fg? I'm still loving that 😁 thanks to u 👊
That was very well illustrated!!! I'm going to give it a real life fishing test. 🤞

Great tutorial JC!
Very good instruction.
Thanks for sharing master
Like your tutorial very much ..
Good work, well done mate.
Happy Easter JC
simple and strong knot . . .i'm just done with my sc knot. . . cool .. ..
took me a few but i got it now thanks
Perfect, thanks! Only the glue point seems a bit exaggerated, but that's my opinion. Stay safe!
Great video. Thank you so much. What kind of super glue you're using.
Regular kind from the Dollar Tree.
Thanks JC
JC great vid thanks... just curious what's your opinion on the Yukon???
FG, SC and Uni to Uni are my go to knots for braid to leader.
@@RadReelingFishing 👍

You'll have to decide that on your own. The FG is the slimest of all the knots. The SC is one strand of braid thicker than an FG.
Not yet lol. I’m still working on the other one. I want to master it first 😂.
Nice Main and leader line tie..SC knot is awesome.. Thank you for that Master💪💪💪🤝🤝🤝😍😍🥰🥰
Does this not work as well on a 10 pound test mono or floral and ten pound test braided line.
use a Uni to Uni knot for lighter lines
Nice one JC! Interesting knot that I hadn't seen before. Would this work OK with a mono mainline to a heavy leader? I don't use Braid. Stay safe & well. 👍👍UK.
Any knot you can use with braid works with mono to mono

Sorry brother. Been tying the FG for a few years. I can do it in 60 seconds in the dark cold rain. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
How do you get the hard glue off your finger?
I have a braid to leader knot that I’ve never had break. I’ve had the 30lb fluorocarbon break before the knot. Hit me up if you want to know. Maybe you could make a video testing the different knots or something.
Also it’s a way easier know to tie

FG and Uni to Uni mostly

Thanks for commenting. I'm not familiar with that reel. Did you find a rod yet?
Nice!
JC - very nice knot - just needed clarity on the half hitches at the end - can you break that down - thanks
Alternating around leader and braid and the alternating around braid only.
@@RadReelingFishing Thanks
Which is slimmer? FG or SC?
SC is one thickness of braid bigger.
This knot seems crazy complicated is it stronger than the fg?
Check out this comparison video to an FG ruclips.net/video/WLYzJfK0SOE/видео.html

Yes, here's the video: ruclips.net/video/WLYzJfK0SOE/видео.html
SC has caught my attention but it seems a tad bulky an ununiform so I guess I'll stick with the FG, it doesn't take that long.

Try the Rufus knot instead !

Love you jc but if I see someone doin all this to tie their rig, they’re not getting invited back on the boat
Doesn't work very well on 15 lb flouro. The flour leader slides right out.
Interesting, I found it's very important to use 30 wraps. With leader that thin a uni to uni is easy and will be thin enough to slide through the guides easily.
@@RadReelingFishing
Got it working now. Its important the braided loop goes completely over the wraps. At least I think that made the difference.
This Isn't new. Good old Yucatan knot that the panga skippers have been using in Cancun and Cozumel for ages.
Thanks for watching. I think you are mistaken. It's not a Yucatan knot, guaranteed.

Their both strong The fg knot still a stronger knot tho

Mono will chip a tooth.
Mom always said I'd ruin my teeth by cutting the line with them. So far I've not had that happen. Did you chip a tooth?
Why is the fg knot constantly labeled as some impossible knot to tie. You just wrap the leader around the main line with tension on it. Close it how you will 🤷♂️
I agree...after finding a method I like ie: tying loop to real I can do one know in 60-90 seconds.

Wait - I can't do this....No teeth!
You waste so much line. Don't wrap Braid around your hand.
Too complicated
