Chris Needham....you should see the two black and two white LP Customs Steven Maynard 'The Riffmaster' Clark had with a Kahler and PAF pick ups [triple].....these axes gave Steamin an amazing range and he also could riff heavy. Check out the opening riff and ride out solo to 'Photograhp' from In the Round Denver Colorado 1988. Steve had it all, penned most of their tracks, created amazing riffs, melodies and hooks, and was strapped low a rock star zipping round the stage. His creme Custom with Kahler was stunning, it is what I am in the process of getting, VERY expensive.

*Standing ovation* I really like how Joel takes a beast of a guitar and always produces beautiful glassy clean tones out of them! This video, the 1967 SG, and the pearly gates.... all great playing and awesome tones from such a simple set up.
Its the strangest thing, but seeing this guitar, hearing it... Its like seeing a beautiful woman that catches your eye. It gives me that weird butterfly in your stomach sort of feeling. This is a guitar that i MUST own at some point in my life
Love the classical choir for added effect. And that first distorted chord was not what I was expecting for the overdrive demo part of the video but it was better than I had hoped!

This is fantastic. I'm a huge Zep fan but weirdly not a huge Gibson fan - although this is absolutely killer!! Love Joel's playing in this too. Have we finally got a contender to PGS Andy's throne? :D

I like how he doesnt just concentrate on his playing/ left hand and moves his strumming hand across the humbuckers. Joe Sat once said “its very important to move your picking hand up and down across the pickups to really get the most out of a guitar”

A guy was selling one of these for 150 pounds near me in the summer. Was pretty set on buying but due to complications had to give it up, still hurts to this day, what a steal.
that is the probably the best sounding led paul I've heard. the clean tones are unlike anything I've heard and that overdrive sound was unreal . they are low output put yet sound very hot . it's open sounding but yet thick and warm at the same time. it sounds like those pafs have alnico 5 mags they have a ton of low low end I wish he played with a bit loose drive on the dirty tones. the gibson custombuckers do a very respectable job of imitating the paf tone although the real pafs are better by a fair margin. the custombuckers sound very similar though .
What's most astonishing is how 'aligned' the harmonics are, for lack of a better term. The big chords 2:30 and the clean chords at 5:08 - there's no warble, no waver. It's surreal.

Rain Song - Not a hard song to play when tuned to this open tuning. VERY HARD to play this well. Bravo!
That's true of a lot of Led Zeppelin songs. Kashmir is a bitch to play in standard, but it plays like butter if you tune your guitar to DADGAD.

I recently played an original 1956 LP Custom with the original single coils in it, just the feel of that guitar alone is unbelievable
rain song sounded amazing.
"The Rain Song" is so soothing. I also love how they paid tribute to Beatle George Harrison's "Something" by starting the song with the same chords.
