Zenn: Joe is my favorite... Funny thing is I didn't know about him until about 2 years ago when my bro-in-law asked me if I've ever heard of him... I said 'no'. Then he showed me the Just Got Paid live video and I was hooked. I was away from playing guitar for a long time and just got back into it, so I guess that's the reason.. I'm so glad I have a guitar hero again (along with Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, etc...). Like you said, no arrogance or ego... the coolest!
I’m almost a year late to the party, but I gotta say: That Les Paul sounds fantastic! It’s so crisp & clear, but with the bass on point. Anyone would be blessed to have a taste of a guitar like that in their lifetime. Mr.Bonamassa knows it & plays them like it’s no tomorrow & I love it! Gives us a taste of the holy grail of guitars. Keep it up!
Joe Bonamassa is a legend not just for being a great player but for being such a guitar nerd. This guy's garage is the reason we can't find tweed amps at a reasonable price anymore.
I really like Joe Bonamassa a lot! One of the greatest (if not the greatest!) guitar player alive, so generous of his knowledge, down to earth while his concerts are always sold out in the most prestigious music venues all around the globe yet so available... Much appreciated Joe!

How do you mean? He's a massive American blues guy. He's been playing professionally since 12 years old. If you haven't heard him, you should check him out.
Here's a short story. I lived real close to Seth Lover. We both lived in Garden Grove, Ca. Once, as I was passing by he pulled out of his jacket pocket THE original Gibson, what was to become the PAF. "I knew you would come by," he said, knowing I walked my dog down the street almost every day! He and his wife were really nice. And they liked my dog! Years later I owned a race shop in Corona, CA two streets over from the Fender Custom Shop. Off Maple(6th St) and Commerce St. One builder there came to my shop regarding a race kart for his son. We became good acquaintances and when I delivered some parts, I met Abigail Yabbara! She was a shy lady who sat at her bench winding her pickups. I said some kind words. Afterwards, she put her hand atop mine and said, "God Bless." That was the totality of our interaction. I did a few projects for the Custom Shop. Everyone was super nice!
I really appreciate Joe's desire to promote others and encourage people to listen to and go see lesser known players, as well as share the stories of some of the gems he's had the opportunity to purchase. Recognition for one's playing these days, much like access to quality vintage instruments, is harder and harder for the average working musician to get. That's not a complaint; it's just an acknowledgment of reality. It's nice to know that there are at least a few guys on top, like Joe, who understand and appreciate what life for the majority of us is like as we aspire to be as great as we can at what we love to do.
Every time I see joe with his 59 makes me miss my 66 Austin . Sort story wife broke it got made at me an snapped the neck. Then said thought I could get new neck when it was a neck through. She said she would replace it ,an 13 years later still have not got one. 😭 my dad got it for my 16th birthday never played hidden in an pawn shop storage.
well, he plays guitar but still looks at Norm and hears what he is saying and answers it. I bet my butt not many Guitarists can play and talk the same time.
Joe is such a good person to share his knowledge so much. It's funny, my Dad is 93 and was in his late 20s when he used to walk downtown and remembers seeing these "fancy" guitars hung in Music Store windows. But he said that you could buy a used car for what those guitars cost in 1959, and only the "rich kids" would have a guitar like that - and most kid's parents bought them a $10 Sears Roebuck special...! Those can still make music. If I lived back then I would have worked for guitars.
Yes it's Joe!!!!!!!!! Only reason why I missed him playing in Dublin 2 years ago is because I ended up seeing David Gilmour play the world's first concert in Pompeii (yup, that concert.......!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Great video. I could sit and listen to these guys talk about vintage guitars and stuff over and over. Everyone’s got the right to have an opinion. For me, Joe B is one of the all time greatest! Long live the blues, Joe and keep them alive, please!
Hey, I got an early beat-ta-shit 73 Blk Beauty fretless wonder with embossed pups (yes, embossed "gold' pups lasted into early 73"). The best LP I've ever seen or heard. The guitar blooms 10minutes after you pick it up and gives back 10-fold to whatever you can give it. F'n Amazing!
ahhh love the shout out to JK LUTHERIE what a cool dude, fixed two of my guitars.... I stood at the counter and he called the guy at Gibson and asked what glue they used on my acoustic. Fixed my 74 strat and filled me in on good guts etc about it. He sells mostly literature etc but is a real deal player and Luthier.
I love these videos, especially Mark and the guitar of the day. You never know what you're going to see, the same with Joe, he always has something awesome.
