- Take a look at the behind-the-scenes view of both the Owls' play-off semi finals against Peterborough, in which Wednesday come back from 4-0 down to reach Wembley.
Five years ago I was living 200 miles away and met my now wife online. I made the move north to be with her so she didn’t have to leave her job as a teacher at a local school. Her and her entire family turned out to be devout owls. I’d always been a bit of a lost cause when it came to football. Falling In love with man united as a young kid but really should have had allegiance to my home town team, Reading - it didn’t help that my old man was a Leeds fan from birth having affinity for Man United. Anyhow not long after we met her dad and brother started getting me along to Wednesday and I’ve seen a lot of games there over the last few years including relegation. Her brother had said he’d get my wife and I tickets for what would have been the last home game of the season, we were there last year against Portsmouth. It was always quite clear given how we’d been top almost all season that it would be a case of lifting the trophy at home with automatic promotion but he couldn’t get the tickets and we slipped into the playoffs. Then we took the beating at the posh. Her brother nearly didn’t come for the second leg as he lives in Worcester but we all made it knowing there was a mountain to climb. All i can say is that I’ve never ever witnessed anything like that, ever. The atmosphere was electric from start to finish. I’m genuinely lost for words but above all else fell in love with the club last night. Last night will stay with me, like it will you forever. 🦉🦉🦉

I was talking to a Sunderland fan and friend of mine today, he described the game as the best game he had ever seen, said it was a game of 120 minutes played like it was the last five minutes. Absolutely amazing game

I cried when we won, not because I was sad but because of how overwhelmingly proud I am to be a wednesdayite. I also cried just now after watching this and all the lads celebrating and having fun. You can tell that all the players love this team by the amount of passion and hard work they put into winning, being 4 - 0 down on the first leg to bring it back to 5 - 5 and win 5 - 3 on penalties is absolutely unbelieveable. and if we put as much effort into the final as we did this game we will definitly be playing in the championship next season! This was my sons first season coming to football and he was so lucky to witness 23 games unbeataben then this night against Peterborough, my son said to me earlier it was the best night of his life 😁 UTO! Still makes me emotional 😂😂

I watched Darren Moore make his debut and play many games for Torquay thirty odd years ago and I have to say watching him in this video gives me goose-bumps. To see what he has developed into is amazing. A dream night for all Wednesday fans that most supporters throughout the leagues will never ever get to experience. Good luck in the final, 96 points in a league season and a comeback like no other....you deserve it.
I am proud to say that I was there and witnessed the most amazing match I have seen in my entire life. What a performance, what a club, what a team , with a brilliant manager and back room staff. They do not comprehend that less camera movement = more watchable footage. Whoever was behind the lenses for this should be very proud of their work.

I remember some twonk (Arsenal fan typical) at work trying to tell me Wednesday needed to score 5 the night before the Hillsborough game, I'm like 'no we just need 4 to level it'. Gave up explaining it to the streak of p***. Anyway great night couldn't believe it. I thought id destroyed my throat though screaming.

I was born in Oughtibridge, 3 miles from the S6 Stadium . The doctor who delivered me was Andrew Stephen (you Owls should know who he was), so I've been an Owl for the past 81 years. I heard the 66 cup final in a hilltop in Tanzania where I was playing rugby. Been through a lot with them.
But I think the greatest day was when we beat ManU 7-2 at Old Trafford while I was at Manchester University. Me and a mate used to go to OT one saturday, and S6 the next on his Francis-Barnett 125 cc bike. Great day, and a great side then.
Losing heavily away from home and winning easily at home to the same team was pretty commonplace back in the 50's and 60's, and before this game I thought back to similar turnarounds v Man United, West Ham, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal - both at Bramall Lane and Hillsborough. I remember Wednesday thrashing the Hammers 7-0 and getting 5 against Bobby Charlton/George Best's Man Utd when big Jack Whitham scored 4. This gung-ho game v the Posh was reminiscent of the football back then - "shit-or-bust" stuff and so exciting to watch (Wilkinson/Finney/Fantham.....). Then I watched Barnsley v Bolton and was brought back down to earth again - hey-ho! As a Blade I was gobsmacked at this turnaround - but I have to take my hat off to Darren Moore, Barry Bannon & Co
@@Lowdenjim I was at that 7-0 game against West Ham. My mate came in minutes late; they were 4-0 up then. As I recall, we had a 6-6 centre forward call Ellis; the was great with his head but almost useless with his feet. I knew Jack Whitham because his parent lived in Crag View in Oughtibridge. I did the summer and christmas mail there so I knew where everybody lived.
@@rodericstanley2258 Yes - I missed those early goals too; big problems getting into the ground that day as I recall. Jack Whitham is a friend of mine and he reckons his 4th goal v Man U should really have been credited to Nobby Stiles, but a hat-trick against that team was pretty good anyhow!
@@Lowdenjim There had been a lot of rain, and the pitch was very muddy. We used to stand at the Lepping Lane end with a group of us all from O-bridge and Wharncliffe Side. I used to take my bike down the path from the bridge at O-bridge to Claywheels lane, and park it at my aunties, who lived right next to the ground.
More recently (Owls v Bournemouth), I was over from Houston and the NDT group at Penistone Station took me into their suite. They got me to carry the ball out to the centre spot and hand it to the ref. We lost.
My goodness it's a game of football, in any case a comeback happens in the same game, that was two separate games home and away just like league games. You are so nieve you lot, still you've got the Stooges at Radio Sheff backing you, what can possibly go wrong.😢😢😢😢

Like many I turned up out of duty, loyalty and expecting/ demanding some pride from the team I have followed for the past 30+ years, since I moved to Sheffield from Belfast as a student .
If we had batered them and ended up 3-0 up then pride restored and I'd have tried to park the frustration that we really should have been up this year.
