does anyone have a REAL beginner guide. all the guide videos assume you have played diablo before. I don't understand the skills system and the "builds" and need someone to point me in the right direction and no video is for a real beginner

My grandfather who recently passed away had been waiting for a looong time for this game. His favorite game was Diablo and between taking care of his horses and sleeping, he played Diablo. He had played the game for almost two decades (since it first came out) when he died and I remember him waiting and waiting for Diablo 3. Too bad he didnt live to play it. RIP grandpa, love you

Runes are not items to be aquired - a rune is "unlocked' automatically when you reach a pre-determined level for each rune, just like a skill is unlocked for the first time at a specific level. Then at any time you can specialize how a skill works by selecting one of the runes that have been unlocked so far for that skill. Some runes for each skill are not unlocked until much later.

The cut scenes on this game are more badass than my brain can handle.
You have to open up your skill book and swap out manually. Not only that, but a 5 or so second delay is put on the new skills you select before you can use it for the first time - so during a fight is not the time to swap.
I'm impressed mortal, you have overcome the greatest challenge human race have ever faced.

I've played Diablo 2 for the first time just recently and am enjoying it. It's basically a hack-and-slash RPG but with a good story and the skill implementation is spot on.
He is talking about the Nephalem Valor buff, which is the incentive to not switch skills repeatedly. Also the valor buff is unlocked at 60, not solely in inferno. Otherwise you can change skills freely as you wish, aside from the cooldown that occurs after the switch.
Stat and skill points are based off equipment as well as a passive increase based on character.
Diablo and the Elder Scrolls are both classic RPG series that have been around since the 90's. They are very different games. One does not rip off the other.
This is looking so good. Glad the game was off my radar the past 5 years. I woke up today and heard it releases Tuesday. No anxious waiting here. Now off to pre order.

if you are pacific time its midnight of may 14
if you are eastern time its 3 am
and if your european,you get to play the game way before that
you technically don't have to wait in line. Only reason it would be necessary would be if live on the west coast. severs don't go live till 12:01 AM PST. Works out nice over here in EST :)

no man i was thoes folks when i was installing d2 on my pc i was reading the book that came along with the game made me want play it even more
Yes, especially if you love powering up a character as in rpg's/mmos. I haven't played the first two either, wanted you to now you're not alone. Will definitely be buying.

No you cannot use WASD to move. Only point-and-click or hold left-click to move plus left-click to attack and right-click to special attack.
I have the game and it's fun.
Force, there has been a lot of debate on this, and I'm curious as to which is true. One side of the argument says that the game is free to play after the initial $50-$70 purchase; while the opposing side says there will be a monthly charge. Do you have information as to which is true? Others, I will appreciate your feedback, but Force is the only source of knowledge that I will rely on this matter.
I've seen a lot of games that incorporate trading in-game items for actual money. Whether it be via actual legit item shops provided by the game, or black market sites that are against the rules of the game.
And here we are with Diablo 3, which i think has the most genius idea for buying and selling items for real life money; giving the players a service so they can do it themselves. Thus eliminating the need for most black markets. This is the first time I've seen this done, actually.

Dude I've never played D2 or any other hack'n'slash, and this game has me stoked.
It will be free to play, after purchasing the game, not subscription based like WoW. They count on making extra money from people using the real money auction house since it will cost you money just to put items up on there. Plus they will take percentage on all items when/if sold.
one thing you got wrong. The nephalem valor buff kicks in at lvl 60, not just inferno

There is co-op, up to 4 people can play together. Either by joining/creating public games, or by playing with friends.. :)

Ì loved diablo 2, but never looked forward to three. Maybe it was to make sure i didn't hype it up to divine level like many did. And it payed off: I wasn't expecting Diablo 2500 like many seem to have done, and so am rewarded with a great hack'n slash game with awesome co-op features, lots of loot and great difficulty levels and found myself enjoying bashing skeletons across the room all the time

Good video force but one typo the N.Buff becomes available once you hit 60, not just in Inferno.
one of the best games i ever played
once you beat normal, you get to do it again in nightmare, getting better gear than in normal mode. its also twice the challenge. you keep your gear and skills/levels. basically you beat the game over and over
Inferno actually will start a lvl 60. Jay Wilson, in his "how to survive inferno" interview said Inferno will only be available to lvl 60 characters.
Torchlight 1 looks a lot like this yes. I strongly recommend everyone to play this game as well, if they like Diablo 3. Diablo 3 only got me a bit boring of grinding and grinding the same things, the same rooms etc. etc. Just gets boring quickly.

I've been following this game and the development of it for years, and I have NEVER seen anyone mention or discuss a monthly fee. I have no idea where you've got that idea from.
I've never played Diablo 3 beta...or any diablo game...or a blizzard game for that matter. A lot of friends are getting it, and I see the controls seem to be fairly simple (kind of like Runescape's point-click style...that's the best comparison I have) I have a Macbook Pro, and was kind of excited to see that Diablo 3 is Mac compatible. I hope I'm not disappointed...I'm kinda taking a shot in the dark.

Glad I could find gameplay from back when the game was released. It's mind blowing that 7 years have passed already. Gameplay looks slow by today's levels.Funny thing with PVP, never took off. I do hope that Diablo 4 will bring dark elements like in vanila version.
you dont need to click to move, you can just hold down the mouse in the direction you want to move.

you can play d3 on battle.net cooperatively with other players as well as offline by yourself... you can also play online by yourself in a private game.
your gear/skills/gold, are all saved no matter what. your gold and blacksmith/jewcraft skills are also carried over to your next characters.
60% of the game is about being online. It's pretty much where all the fun comes out of. since you can buy or sell items being sold in the auction house
No, the Diablo 3 page clearly states that "launch time of the game is broken down by region". For the EU (where I live), servers are up in 9 hours, installation is possible at 5pm, meaning in 2 hours from now. Sorry dude, but still happy gaming ;D

indeed my friend. and you can always change your skills at the beginning of the game because the MF bonus resets everytime you exit and enter a new game
not sure what you mean by automatic, but you are able to switch between normal and nightmare as you wish

Having come from a MMORPG(which are usually Diablo clones) and the complexity involved with stat distribution ect. I understand why older D1/D2 players aren't happy with the changes to accomadate a larger general crowd. But you have to realize as did I when the game I played evolved in ways I disliked(similar with DIII), that games do change eventually. Those who enjoyed the system will go/stay. But creators gotta make their money and shape their market. No point hating.
Really hope they put more into the pvp system. I know it's not traditional diablo but I played it at blizzcon and it was pretty awesome.

You chose a couple of skills, and if you keep these skills and never change them and go and farm, you get increased chance to find items yes. If you change A skill, the buff gets removed. And starts all over.
It's a one time purchase. By all means, keep waiting until force responds but I'm sure a lot of people will tell you the same.

From what I've heard there are no regional restrictions on Diablo 3 so any version should work. I'm not sure however, you might want to ask Blizzard customer support.
It will not have a subscription fee. Honestly, I'm not sure where you saw any arguments about it being fee based as I'm fairly certain its been announced direct from Blizzard that it will not require a monthly fee. The only fee's from the game will be from use of the real money auction house.

What? Hardcore mode is a mode in which your character receives only one life. Inferno is a higher level difficulty for level 60 characters. Inferno will be available in both Hardcore and Normal modes. The Real Money Auction House will be available in Normal, but not in Hardcore.
You can rag on this game all you want. But people like me and many others have been waiting for Diablo 3 to come out for literally 5 or 6 years. If you never played Diablo 2 you just wouldn't understand. You really have to get into and understand the game to like it.
Path of Exile is what diable 3 should have looked like can't wait till that game comes out!
