    i love how abbey didn't talk about calories in this video, when blair at the start had mentioned she doesn't count them since it can be harmful for her. blair was likely to see this video, so abbey avoiding mentioning how many calories were in her meals and day is just super respectful and so nice to see :')

    As someone with ADD thank you for talking about the frozen vegetables! I’m often craving veggies but when I buy fresh I don’t eat it fast enough, like I forget they’re there so they go bad. I prefer frozen veggies because they can store longer. 😅

    As a Nordic person, I think it's important to know that sizing depends entirely on where the brand is from. I'm of Swedish and German heritage, I'm 5'10" and wear an EU 41 shoe (size 9 or 10 US?). I can't shop at Zara or Mango. It just isn't an option for me. I do have a couple kilos of extra weight but that's not even the problem, because my body is just structured differently from the Italians, French and Spanish. I would have to be underweight to fit into clothes by Southern European brands. I also used to work at an equestrian shop and the French sizing would be one size smaller than the German amd Swedish sizing, and the Italian sizing would be one size smaller than the french. People who wore a 36 in Northern brands would wear a 40 or even a 42 in Italian.

      My opinion is not size but what fits. I am 44 I have walked into teen stores looking for something youthful for a costume. They always say the am sorry you need this size. I say honey make sure it fits, size doesn't. matter.

    • @tripodologia
      @tripodologia Год назад +16

      I can attest to this. I'm originally from Spain living in Norway, and sizing from Scandinavian brands is just bigger overall (which also means cut for tall people). I have been struggling to find stuff that fits here (also because I stopped buying fast fashion many years ago and now I only buy thrifted), although clothing tends to be gorgeous! But I'm left feeling as if I need children-sized clothing. An XS here is not an XS in Italy and not an XS in Japan. One size just doesn't fit all.

    • @kisikisikisi
      @kisikisikisi Год назад +12

      @@heathersparlor You're right, but this also isn't just a question of going up in size and the clothes then fitting. I'm almost 15cm taller than the average Spanish woman. My arms are longer, my shoulders are broader and my breasts are huge. The larger sizes by Spanish brands may be wider, but they're still too short and the proportions are just way off. My point is mainly that people of different ethnic backgrounds are built differently and therefore clothes made by and for one group may not fit another very well. If you're not aware of this, trying on clothes may make you feel incredibly bad about yourself. Blaire may feel "fat" and big when in reality she's just shopping at the wrong store.

    • @kisikisikisi
      @kisikisikisi Год назад +2

      @@tripodologia Exactly. And I don't necessarily fault Zara or Mango for not carrying clothes that fit me, as they're made for people like you. I also do try to thrift as much as possible but unfortunately it seems like people who wear a M-L are way less likely to sell their clothes than people who wear an XS-S. But fortunately there are plenty of stores that carry clothes made for nordic people. When I was in China I was screwed!

    I find a lot of Abby’s advice on a balance diet really helpful but I also find it one sided that most clips only apply to people who under eat. I believe the vast majority of us struggle with over eating and she should focus more on how to tackle that problem. I don’t mean binge eating, fast food eating…. People who eat balanced meals but definitely too much of it to ever lose the weight. More on this would be helpful and speak to what I believe to be a much large audience than what she’s capturing now.

    I totally understand the cultural thing with weight and size. I grew up feeling overweight all the time. My mom is from Japan and came to America at 5 foot 4 and 95-100lbs and was viewed as “bigger” in Japan but Tiny in America..
    As she got older she gained some weight 20 lbs or so (and she still is very strict with her diet). She is always aware and will mention if she is gaining weight..
    I basically had to learn a healthy relationship with food, mental health and go to the gym.
    I still have some days with body image issues and will wear baggy clothes to hide myself.
    But I can totally relate with the cultural thing!

If I only ate till I'm full or didn't track my calories, I'd be undereating by about 1000 calories! I didn't realize until I started counting calories that I was eating like 3500-4000 a day. Insane. Please if you have issues with eating do not intuitive eat. For some people it may work but for most I don't believe it will work. You need accountability. Don't beat yourself up if you slip up (that will happen) but you need accountability and to not just eat whatever you want if you want to be healthy and you lose weight.

    Except that people crave over processed, chemical enhanced crap. Blair speaks about eating what you crave. But what she's craving isn't a box of entenmans cookies, a bucket of KFC or a 5lb bag of peanut butter cups. There IS a difference. When I crave a bowl of spicy chili, I happily eat it with cheese, sour cream and tortillas Chios. Yumm! When I crave a box of salt water taffy, I dont. I replace it with a healthier option. After a year of this, I no longer have those cravings. In fact, overly processed and high sugar foods now make me sick. As a diabetic, I'm okay with that.

    Loved this video .. really interesting!
    I haven’t seen your videos before .
    I can relate with Blair saying when you travel and buy clothes it can mess with your internal thoughts . I NEVER thought about my weight until then .
    I am small in Scotland size 8 but when I went around Asia I was big . I couldn’t find underwear or bottoms to fit often and told ‘ we don’t have your size ‘
    So I ended up feeling massive ?!
    I just stick to what feels good and but what fits not bother with ‘sizes ‘ but I still don’t feel at good as I used too .
    Thanks for the tips for q’s and signals very positive

    I had the same experience in dealing with different sizes depending on where I was in the world. For example, I'm a small or extra small in the USA and have had to buy pants up to an XXL in China! It's crazy. Lol but different areas of the world have different body averages.

    Hi Abbey, would appreciate your thoughts on sweeteners such as stevia, monk fruit; etc. I use them all the time but feel they are causing more damage than good. I am constantly craving sweets and weight loss is not happening. Is good old fashioned sugar that bad? Say, in morning coffee? THANK YOU!

    I watched the last video and I I thought you were a bit hard on her, I didn’t find it at all triggering or problematic . I’m pretty skinny but if I put on two or three kilos I use many of those tips for a short time and they work. I can understand if you have body issues it might land differently but I think you are projecting onto her and it’s quite a load to put on a girl who looks basically healthy and happy. If I gave my body what it wants, I’d just eat chocolate. Everyone is different I guess.

    As a european I have to say it's not true that we are skinnier though. Especially since "we" are a number of completely different countries. But since I've traveled to other places too I would say except for Asia her weight was definitely normal in any other country I've been to. So not saying she's lying I just feel like maybe she hangs out with super skinny people or it's what she sees on insta and all of that is something that all of us should watch out for in terms of what we surround ourselves with and what kind of "normal bodies" we see

    Hey! I would love to hear your opinion (or others' if someone's been through the same thing) on ED related hairloss.
    Can you tell what are the chances of the hair growing back after ED / restrictive eating?
    It's only been 6 months since I started eating better and I know it's gonna take a lot longer than that to restore my hair but I'm just so fucking scared 😅 I lost A LOT of my hair. Like soooooo much. About 90%. My ED wasn't that severe and I guess it was more like restrictive eating. It only lasted like 8 months and I'm at normal weight again.
    I had a super thick hair a year ago so it all happened really fast. I lost all of my hair in like 4 months.

    Hmm, I’d like to see Abbey have a Q&A /interview or reaction video to Dr. Richard Johnson. He’s a low carb advocate & explains a proper human diet through our evolution as a species. Limiting carbs to under 20g/day (NOT net carbs) has made me feel so much more in control of my hunger & I feel great! Wayyy less inflammation.
    Ps I found it odd to say the contradicting phrase “our bodies are profoundly intelligent” but also saying, “we need to normalize bloating”….pretty sure discomfort is your body saying NOPE to what you’re putting inside it.

    love that you can critique without attacking the many mislead content creators out there...
    As a fitness professional I get how frustrating it is to see so many incorrect methods being demonstrated and promoted by people who just plain don't know what they're talking about. But when it comes down to it, most of them are well intentioned people who really do think they are doing the right thing and helping others, and it's good to see the real professionals like yourself who are able to shine light on the wrong information without attacking whichever person has bought into it.

      As a fellow binge eater who got over her binge eating i suggest you to have everything you love in moderation ,it will be extremely hard at first, since if you start eating you won't be able to stop so you gotta have the will . Also eat vegetables,protein and complex carb rich food that keeps you full.
      For losing weight choose a diet that you can stick too for the rest of your life rather than doing some shitty crash diet , also exercise 4-5 times a week (strength+cardio) drink a lot of water and have a good sleep schedule.. if you are someone who loves soda and fizzy drinks stop drinking them.
