Best tutorial for bias tape! I don't even think I'll be getting bias tape makers anymore.
Thankyou so much! I need to tru and make my own bias tape to use as trimming for a cosplay outfit. Your video is short and sweet, it's just what i needed
This is true genius!!!!!! Thanks for sharing this lovely trick!!!
Now I can tackle the whole world of sewiing in one fell swoop without the gadget which I cant find here, -or have to wait for weeks should I order one online!!
Love your dress as well!!! i learn so many tricks and shortcuts on your channel, truly appreciative and a little in awe!! God bless your hands and work, and just your whole family too!!!
You are very clever. This is a great hack. Not only do I not need to buy bias, I don't even need to buy a bias maker!
WOW!! After dozens of videos (I'm a beginner), I finally get it because of YOUR video! Love it! THANK YOU for all the time you put into making and sharing this.
Thanks, Carol! I'm glad I could help! xoxo
I’m trying to make masks for my fellow nurses and can’t find any bias tape anywhere on line. Thanks to you I can now make my own. Thank you so much.
me too! I couldn't even find a bias tape tool/maker, so here I am. Thank you for the helpful video!!!
For mask binding and ties, you don't need bias; straight across the fabric is fine. Bias is needed when you have curves.
Since you are not going around curves for mask ties, you really don't need bias tape. You can cut on straight of grain.
A trick: you can watch series at flixzone. Been using them for watching lots of of movies lately.
@Kenzo Ezequiel Yea, I've been using flixzone} for years myself :)
OMG I have been racking my brain trying to figure out an easier way to do this and I stumbled on your video, THANK YOU! THIS IS BRILLIANT!!!! For those of us who can't afford the automatic bias maker or the bias tape makers are the wrong size this will work wonders. Thanks again!!!!
Thanks for your lovely comment, Dell! I'm happy you found my video helpful and easy! xoxo
I am making face masks and needed bias tape and all the stores are closed due to the covid-19. I have watched so many videos on how to make bias tape. I was almost in tears cause they all made it so difficult. Thank goodness I came across your video. I cannot thank you enough for making this so easy. And I didn't have to try and find a bias tape maker. You are a God send.
There is one for a clip to make them continuous.
This really worked! I was thinking of buying a set of bias makers, but now I don't need to :) Thank you!
That is so clever using a pin to fold the bias tape, I've never seen this before and its so simple. Thank you for posting this clip, very informative.

No talking but easy to follow video. I'd like to suggest adding measurements of your starting fabric and what size bias tape it makes, plus what yardage you'll end up with in the video. Going to hop over to your blog post now...
Hi, Stephanie! Thanks for watching my video and for your suggestions. There's a whole series of tutorials for bias tape on my site, all the other details are highlighted there, including a bias chart and calculator theseamanmom.com/?s=bias

its such a great method and really works!
I used a combination of 2 videos to come to an end result. This video's method didn't seem to work flawlessly, but it was faster doing it all by hand. So, thank you for posting.
Thanks, Kristi! Happy to help, even for just a bit :)
Got exactly what I was looking for. Was wondering how to iron the bias tape. Thank you so much for the awesome video. Any language can figure this one out.

This is simply amazing 😉!!! Thank you sooo much!! I’m making surgical masks for my family some are in medical field and need them ASAP!! What a unique and wonderful and simple way to make lots of bias tape! I don’t have any on hand but I found lots of white cotton fabric!!

Thanks, Susie! Enjoy!
All I can say is Wow and Thank you!
are u for real? Girl u are a genius. God bless u real good
Thank you so much for this. So clever!! This works beautifully! I love starch, so I have found that if I heavily starch the fabric before cutting the bias strips this is so easy! I, too, am making masks and this allowed me to continue after I ran out of elastic. I am especially happy with this because the mask I make now is adjustable. Stay safe.
Thanks so much, Pat! The starch tip is awesome, I'll try it the next time I make bias! Be safe! xoxo
Would you mind sharing what you use to make the masks resizable?
Worked like a charm, thank you❤
Thanks so much for letting mw know! I'm so happy this method worked out great for you! xoxo

I love this way of doing the bias... It's amazing
Excellent 😊!! I knew there had to be a way without the bias tape maker.as I don't have the time to wait for Amazon to send it in 3-5 weeks. Thank you for your innovative idea😃😃😃
Thanks, Maria! Happy to help :) xoxo
Wow creativity at it's best 👍
Thanks, Tina! xoxo
This was extremely helpful. Thanks so much for the video!
Thanks so much for letting me know! Glad I could help! xoxo
Fantastic tutorial! I also loved the background music. Excellent choice!
Thanks so much! xoxo
What a brilliant hack!!!! Thanks so much!
Thanks for this! But I am confused by it looks like there’s 1/4 inch left between the folds when you start out with 2 inch. 2 - 1 - .25 - .25 should give you .5 inch left.
So clever. Thanks!
Wow! That's all I can say...thank u so much!
Very clever!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Thanks, Billie!
This was so genius! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you a lot! 😊
I just lovvvve your method and will defenitely apply it with the myriads of facemasks I make at the moment. Xoxox
Thanks, Bets and happy sewing!
Great! Thank you! ( only one thing: i wonder, why you cut off the part on the right sie. Leaving it on, you could make more longer strips)
Thanks, Alexandra! Not sure I get your question as there are 2 parts where I discarded the right side. If you're referring to the part where I fold the fabric and make a square then discarded the excess fabric on the right side, that's how it's done, you need a square to work with for cutting bias strips. If you mean the part where I cut the strips with the rotary cutter then discard the corner on the right side, I'm doing it because that part is too small and when the strips are joined, the seams are too close to each other, they'll look bulky in a project.
What measurements do you use?
Awesome!!!! Thank you!!!!!!
Thanks, Mary! xoxo
Genius - many thanks!
Thanks, Diane! xoxo
Waaaaaaooo so brilliant
Amazing. Thanks so much
Thanks, June! xoxo
I'm very grateful for this video. I'm also grateful for you using this piece of music that I heard once and was never able to find again. Please, what is the name of it?
Thanks! I honestly can't remember the name, I think it's in RUclips's library!
This is brilliant
Thanks, Isabelle!
I love it !!!
Thanks, Rosa! xoxo
GENIUS!!!!
Thanks, Melanie!
nice easy thankyou
Thank you ...u save my 875 money
You rock for this here!
works just as well with straight-grain strips. I don't even actually "iron" them--I just set the iron on top and pull the strips out from under. Life saver!
Thanks
Brilliant
i think this is a great idea, but I am having problems with the measurements. I cut my strip 2" wide and did the pin with a 1" width, when I fold under the 1/4" and each side, it doesn't go through and the causes it to fold in 1/2" on each side instead of the 1/4" at starting point. What am I doing wrong. trying to take a 2" strip to a 1" strip as measurements show in the video.
Thanks for the heads up, Tommy. We mixed up the measurements as we did 1" and 1"2 bias the same time.
Clever!
Thank u
What size does the actual bias come out after it is completely folded?
Chauna, it should be half the original size. So if you're starting with 1" wide strip you should get 1/2" for single fold bias. If you want to get double fold bias it would be 1/4 of the original width of the strip.
Easy Peasy Creative Ideas So, if I want a double fold @ 1/2” I would need 2 inches?
Wow, must be nice to be clever and dexterous!! (6 minutes? Hmmm. I'll scale that by a factor of 20 for me accompanied by tons of expletives and ending in tears and beers. *Sigh*)
