Say what you will about how horribly balanced UMvC3 is to play, but it's hard to deny that it can definitely be a treat to the eyes when watching matches like this.
That is a sentiment I could never share with Marvel Infinite.

Jesus Christ, Son of God. Max got REKT on that second round. See this is why I can't enjoy this game. Once you get caught, you spend the next 2mins watching the combo counter and sipping tea :(
The best part is, you can't really get mad because the combos are absolutely beautiful. They're so asthetically pleasing, all the salt leaves your body and you just sit there, happily knowing you got bodied, but you got to see a sick combo

The sad thing about UMvC3 is that as broken as X-factor is, it's probably the only thing that gives you a chance in situations like this because the rest of the game is so broken.
Imagine trying to deal with this gonzo bullshit without it. Some characters are just too strong even without their own X-factor.
Would that end up in a paradoxical meta that explains that the game is so broken in so many way that it ends up balancing itself through broken mechanics ?

Thats how people talk about mw2. Everything in that game was so ridiculously broken, that it kind of balanced itself out.

The game is broken but it balances itself out using other broken mechanics
X-Factor isn't a problem in UMvC3, least not a big one. I love UMvC3 but it's 1 button, 1 frame startup throw game is the worse thing in it, next to the whole TAC mechanic.
Tatsunoko vs Capcom had Cross-Over Air Raid (which was QCF+P) as a way of switching during the middle of an air combo, it was so much better because it cost 1 bar. So you either hard tag (0 bars used), DHC (2 bars used) or AR (1 bar used) to switch, so switch P for Assist1 or Assist2 if MvC4 is another 3v3 game.
Overall a Capcom or MvC4 done with TvC mechanics would be a good way forward as Baroque (if made to take a set amount of life away like Haggar's Lariat does) is a better combo canceler/extender than X-Factor, Mega Crash tweaked a bit (as 2 bars plus a chunk of health always felt steep), Cross-Over Air Raid and Cross-Over Counter (think V-Reversal but you need a partner and costs 1 bar) are better mechanics.
Tatsunoko vs Capcom really wasn't given a fair ride, being on a weak console with poor online (it needed a bloody adapter for wired internet).
+ThePhoenixWylde wasn't Tatsunoko a Wii exclusive? I wanted to play it so bad, but I never got a chance to when it came out, heard it was amazing though

I really like Vergil and his lines in the game.
Most of them are straight from DMC3, which is no surprise.
You know, I feel like X Factor would be a really cool mechanic if they kept it mostly the same but only gave you the basic level 1 and it never went up. Like you just get one time, per game, to extend a combo or perform an advanced block string or make a move safe, get a punish, or whatever, but it didn't make comebacks hilariously in your favor. Use it kinda like an FADC in a way.
Strider Hiryuu is one of the most OP characters I've ever seen, in this game and in MVC2. He can shred an entire team in seconds, and not even break a sweat doing it.

One other thing: I think X-Factor could work if you chose a type of factor pre-fight. Like, you choose life up, speed up OR damage up, not all three. Maybe take out the no chip damage part, too.

Despite being broken as hell, UMVC3 will always have a place in my heart.
Sadly, I probably won't play UMVC3 as often as I use to, since I now want to focus more on Street Fighter 5, along with other games.
I 100% agree on X factor. You had game 5, and he got X-factor off, one combo per dude and they die from full to half health? It's as you said in another MVC3 video, it's literally a cheat code and is hugely unfun from any perspective. It isn't even gratifying to WIN with it.

I would love to see an MVC4, but if it's going to have X-Factor, I'd rather have it be an optional setting and not be mandatory. Or y'know.... they could just remove it entirely and the world would be a happier place because of it, but we'll see what an MVC4 would be like when it comes in the next 20 years.

I think it's way more interesting seeing the difference in skillsets. Max is incredible with actual technical gameplay. But the opponent is masterful at those infinites.

Even though this game is fairly busted, and if i ever tried to play another person who even remotely knew what they were doing I would lose horribly, I still love watching people play. I would EXPECT to see this kind of insanity from super heroes and ninjas and mutants and demons fighting each other. It's beautiful.

UMC3 is really easy to get into but hard to master. It was the perfect fighting game imo for showcasing this. Not every game has to be as hard as SF or easy as MKX.

I hate on MVC for the silly over the top infinite-o-rama that it is, but I also love the franchise as a friendly game too with my friends and my dad/brother. Since we never got ot these redic levels, it's fun as shit on a casual level too and plays more traditionally.

I don't want a MvC4 if its made just to be a cash grab, especially looking at how Marvel is greedy as of late. It needs quite the time to be made. Honestly I just want MvC2 to come back online again. I feel like CvS is more deserving of a new entry than Marvel, 3 ends it quite nicely. Unless we get a legitimate story with more character interaction in MvC4, I'd gladly take that. MvC4 shouldn't *just* be a fighting game.

Max, remember that video you posted asking if combos are too long? The length of the combo doesn't bother me, but when one touch kills, it stops being a fighting game. You're just executing a program. Win or lose, that's not a "fight". My 2¢.
