As five year old kids in the 1950's at Coney Island, , we would stand in the water up to our knees with a hand net, and scoop up these fish all day long. There were mussels all over the jetties and winter flounder in the bays was plentiful. Life at this beach completely disappeared for sixty years. Thanks for the video.

@@Exploremorefishing no problem. You should fish small sabkies around docks in long island during the summer you'll find some cool tropicals that get washed up here

Hi Sammy , if you plan on fishing in freshwater then yes you need to buy a fishing license if you are 16 and older , however if you plan on fishing in saltwater all you need is to register on their website ..I left the link for you dec.ny.gov

as a small boy my grandfather took me to the pier to fish for many, many years. Great memories there. We would catch flounder, fluke, porgies, snapper blues ,crabs, and once in a while, a stripe bass. The secret spot is where the first wave brake all the little crabs and crustaceans would get turned up and the fish would feed on them. Best bait i remember was mussels and blood worms.

I don't fish there. The guys that fish there are poachers, not fishermen.
