i have also been following both you and will since the first q&a you guys did and both your videos have always been a place of comfort over the last 10 or so years ❤️
i agree!!! the big, soft texture of the paint next to the illustrated style looked so lovely, it would be so cool to see a painting like this in the future :D
Loved this so much! I'm in exactly the same position - American in London, moved recently to be with my British husband. I love London but have been shocked at how much I miss my old life! Anyway, I'm coming away from this feeling inspired to learn to knit ❤
I feel you on grieving a place you used to live in so much and moving to your partner's country can be daunting. If you love both places I think in time it will be just fine. At the end of my studies in France (where i'm from) I moved to Brighton. Living in the UK was a dream of mine since I was a preteen and it was life goals. I met my non-english partner there and we lived together for 2 years in this city (he had studied in England so for him he had been there 6 years). At one point he said he wanted to go back to his country and it was so devastating for me, and we almost broke up twice, I wasn't ready to let go of my life there but I was also not ready to let go of our relationship. Eventually we moved to my partner's country and hated it so much at first, it's been 5 years and I still struggle to like it here, it hasn't been easy for my career and for our relationship at times but I'm hoping it will eventually settle. Our quality of life is higher than in the UK if you look at the facts, but the vibes are so different. I miss England everyday. I wish I was living in London right now haha. If you have a good support system if it will work out :) Also I saw a bunch of comments saying they loved the unpainted houses and I agree! Something about the red lines in the colour blocks of the mountain felt very ghostly in every positive way, and the contrast between the detailed lines and the simplicity of the forest is super interesting! Love the hood too, I crocheted one last month out of bright red mohair wool, it has a drawstring it's amazing but I don't recommend the pattern I used, I had to modify a lot of things. Good luck for your new English life !
I am from England and I think really what makes me the proudest is the way England has taken a beautiful woman and is slowly changing her into Olive from On The Buses.
The sophie scarf or the sophie hood by petiteknit looks sooo nice! I've knitted several of the sophie scarf myself, and often use them styling different outfits. Plus the sophie scarf is easy and fast to knit, which makes great gifts!
hi! i've watched since your high school videos which is so hard to believe but i moved to london three years ago to be with my partner and the grief really does go in cycles. mourning the life you had/could've had is so real and i hope you're ok!!
I’m so glad you guys are not in LA with the fires and feel like this was the best decision. I also feel you on grieving other versions of ourselves and the places we could be. I am there all of the time as my sisters live in the US and I live in Germany.
another american (and californian!) that’s moved to london. those feelings of grief are so present especially in the winter and spring here. some creative coping is so helpful so i’m so glad you’ve been able to find some solice here 💕
loved this arden! i've just started back on antidepressants and its been rough. i was thinking about getting back into painting to distract from the side effects and this video has definitely spurred me on
Such a cosy, delightful little vlog. Glad things are going ok in London, I've been wondering and thinking about you and the kitties quite a bit! Yay for creative outlets. We love them.
You should look up Alexa Kari! She’s an American who’s London based and has a gorgeous community of crafty gals. I think you’d like her big city bonnet pattern and she has this little summer smock vest top that’s super cute as well!
Hi Arden! I would love to know the patterns used to make the skinny scarfs and the head hood? They are sooo beautiful, it’s inspiring me to begin knitting!
Hey darlin! The skinny scarf was just a 1x1 rib knit that changed color every 20 rows if that’s helpful, and the hood is called the One Last Time Hat from Wool And The Gang ❤❤❤
i love the houses unpainted w the mountains it felt like a home we don’t know the story to yet but the end paintings were so cozy and beautiful
