A really important thing to note about Nessa is that she has Borderline Personality Disorder, which is one of the most painful mental illnesses you can have. It’s also body dysmorphia but to the nth degree. I have it and when I was undiagnosed, I used to create personas of myself and thought that if I became as beautiful and perfect as possible that people couldn’t hurt me, because I feel emotions so strongly and physically that even the smallest thing feels like I’m getting knifed in the chest.
I am blessed to be a very conventionally attractive person like Nessa, but my lack of sense of consistent self image makes me obsessively take photos and stare at myself because I forget how I look. I don’t think I’ve ever looked the same to myself once. Some days I’ll be the prettiest person on the planet, and then I’ll feel vulnerable and feel like I’m the ugliest. I’ve had practically all EDs like Nessa and it’s really easy to fall into them because you’re so disassociated and out of it that it doesn’t even really bother you. Or it’s a tactic to just distract yourself from the pain.
I can’t imagine seeing those comments though as someone who has BPD. Thankfully I’m just an average joe and I can quietly work on myself with my therapist and psychiatrist. I went to the hospital a little over two years ago and I’m already doing much better. I did put on a lot of weight and had a “glow down” but I feel much more humbled and like a real person than I did in the past. My body image is still terrible, but that will probably be the last thing to resolve. Hope that opened some eyes on her situation! She’s written music about it too.

As soon as I seen the surgeon I got pissed like her lips don’t look bad at all and for the surgeon to pretty much say her lips are ugly like GTH she’s already been through enough…..a lot of these doctors need their license taken. I remember nessa Barrett before she blew up and how (weight wise) different she look she kinda reminds me of Madison beer with being bullied for no reason.

I guess it’s the injectors own fault because her work relies on having sponsored clients that are famous or at least are known on social media. She gets new business from the exposure of being nessa’s injector. It is bad for business if Nessa starts looking overfilled. She just wanted to save face and say ‘hey, that’s not my work!’ Lip filler is already really hard to pull off and it migrates, lumps, and can mess with pigment in the lips. If your client is looking a bit off then it’s basically a dealbreaker for any potential new customers.
Saying someone’s filler doesn’t look great or wasn’t done well isn’t saying they’re ugly to be fair.

ive seen other vids etc. saying that it's typical for people with lip filler to get multiple injections and keep wanting them bigger cause they get used to it/it dissolves a bit and they don't realize just how big they're getting. I feel like nessa has probably had more than two injections (i have no credibility i am not knowledgeable in this subject I am not a plastic surgeon but that's my hypothesis) but either way she should not be judged for going and getting more filler cause the way the beauty standard are, how she was made to feel insecure about her lips and her body dysmorphia it makes complete sense that this would happen.

That’s the problem with society as a whole. Mental illness is so stigmatized and BPD is one of those. That would not be easy to be famous and struggling with a painful disorder like Bpd. I have borderline myself and I’m so misunderstood and gaslighted manipulated and told I’m attention seeking even though I didn’t ask for constant abuse in my life to happen end up giving me this permanent painful mental disorder. Abuse causes damage to the brain hence why we suffer borderline because it’s affected are emotional receptors in are brain. Some people just can’t understand this.

As a former anorexic I relate so much on the "in her mind healthy was a body that she didn't want, being called sick comforted her". Cause to me what people called healthy was the body of regular people who were fat to me. I didn't aspire to be like any of them. If I was ever called healthy I wasn't thin enough... Not gonna lie I say former cause I'm not actively acting upon it. But the ED never leaves your mind... Props to her being on the spotlight all the time does accentuate those insecurities. I have no upper lip and society keeps reminding me every day that beauty = plump lip. I wonder when I'll cave in... And I'm only a commercial model, I live pretty anonymously (the bookers and casting directors are the tough ones). So I can't even imagine how it feels when on top of that all random strangers have something to comment on your body or your face.

I love Nessa but even she said with her body dysmorphia I don't think she always looked at a video and was like oh I look sick perfect, I think she just thought she looked enough. She knows a lot about ED and with her body checking I truly believe it's not malicious which is why they end up being deleted. Ness is healing and she stayed off the internet to do so and she is doing better and that makes me so happy. She is truly an inspiration and she's young and still learning. Thank you for this video I think its important to make people realise she is human and she isn't just everyones bestie online, parasocial relationships need to be talked about more. Nessa is healing and doing so quietly and she has tried to learn not to post such damaging stuff. She recently came out with a tiktok that i think she deleted about getting her period back and she was so happy to be recovering (many women with ED's will lose their periods due to not enough nutrients in their body etc.) She's not perfect and still so young but she is learning.

I feel so badly for how much pressure mentally and physically she was in to look a certain way at such a young age because she reminds me so much of myself at that age, but I wasn't on display for the world to judge. And yes the word "healthy" is so triggering for us. I've been homeless, addicted, dealing with Ed's my whole life and it is tough when you think about it preventing you from children. Basically you have to be a certain weight 90-100lbs to have a period and if you aren't having a period or have super irregular tiny ones, once every few months like me, then yes the chance of conceiving is extremely needed. Which sucks so badly sending my love to her

Unless she had her written authorization to speak on it she did break HIPAA. And even with that the parameters of the practitioner being able to disclose PHI like this would ONLY pertain to her own work. So disclosure that it was another practitioner is actually beyond illegal. I wonder if she’ll get in hot water for that. In all technicality a doctor isn’t even supposed to admit to being someone’s provider. The patient can talk about the doctor all they want but a doctor cannot respond to confirm nor deny.
“Common examples of social media HIPAA compliance violations include: Posting verbal "gossip" about a patient to unauthorized individuals, even if the name is not disclosed. Sharing of photographs, or any form of PHI without written consent from a patient.”
That would entail written consent to disclose what another practitioner had done which I highly doubt was given. Social media is getting loads of doctors in trouble as of late. Especially these influencer promo based ones

I had an Ed for 7+ years, I never was sure on anything in life: Kids, job, confidence etc. even if you don’t have kids in mind there still is so much grief and guilt over the complications that happen with an Ed. Even if I’m basically weight restored (though my period are very painful and irregular now.) I know that years of experiencing Amenorrhea and that absence of a period means something.
I won’t get a parade or comfort for my mistakes and self inflicted pain. At least, I hope, nessa has that in her life. You really do have to sit with those bad memories and the consequences of an Ed, it sucks.
It seems so trendy and ideal for young people…they make their ozempic jokes or say goals, but they don’t see that person a few years down the line with grey skin, a slimy tongue from malnutrition, and their hair part widening and balding. No one thinks the bad side effects will happen to them. They’ll just be ‘perfect’ and skinny. The disorder makes you delusional like that, though.

  • @shrimplythebest
    @shrimplythebest 2 месяца назад +1

I have never really known anything about her but this is so sad. I think we spend way too much time on social media now, especially young people, and we get used to seeing VERY unrealistic expectations of what people can like that. People that post their very unrealistic, heavily edited bodies so much online can really do so much damage to young women especially. A huge part of that is just how little we know about behind the scenes. People get surgeries, heavily edit photos, and put their bodies through so much just to look a certain way. It’s so upsetting how many issues she has gone through and can’t escape it being put online for everyone to see.
I’ve struggled with disordered eating myself, and if I were to see old pictures of myself during those times, it would be so painful for so many reasons. I hope she is eventually able to be in a good place mentally and recover from it all. She’s so young, it’s so sad.

I would nessa more privileged than us and has all the support and help she could get when it comes to being able to afford any kind of help financially something we normal plp don’t get, even asking for help and talking to a therapist Cost mad money.

@jacs9992 Again another privileged comment not acknowledging how things work because no matter if you turn off comments or remove ourselves from media, it's doesn't better things especially when people face these things all around. Everyone's journey is different plus trauma can do alot to the brain especially with media addiction which you don't sound very educated on and just speaking on things that you probably don't know or maybe not in her position so you can't speak on that but will excuse shitty people calling it "real". People choose what celebs they want to treat well and respect them but choose not to because so many celebs can look like her being in her position and people wouldn't do the things people do to Nessa which tells you alot so NO, your are wrong! It's not real at all!

I do hope she can have the help she needs, not only therapy and such (I am not an expert and I wouldn't dream on telling someone what to do about their life, body, etc.) but I hope she has good, caring people by her side because that makes an incredibly difference.
Battling alone can be very taxing, but battling with the right people by your side makes you feel loved, secure and have the support you need and deserve.
I wish nothing but the best for her. Please excuse my English, is not my first language.

I know Nessa personally and she really has been dealing with a lot. And I think this video is a good thing to be put out there because people need to know what this poor girl has gone through. She went through absolute hell when cooper passed and she was still getting hate after hitting rock bottom. Nessa is the sweetest person on this earth and she deserves the world and people need to understand that if you don’t like something that someone posts then don’t follow or look at their page. If you really need to go out of your way and comment on her body it’s horrifying and unnecessary for someone. So if you do that then give your phone back to your mom and get a life. Stop coming after Nessa and let her live. Like Jesus.

When I was 24 (I'm 30 now) I got lip fillers, and I ALWAYS tell this story because I think it gave me a good perspective on why girlies tend to exaggerate: I got half of the little tube on my upper and lower lips, the day that is done it looks odd and swollen, but the next day when the swollen goes down you already feels like "maybe i should've got a lil more" and as the time goes by the lips starts to "sit" and look more normal so you feel like you need more because is "gone already" and (not making excuses for anyone, I haven't had anything done ever since) I think its a normal behaviors after getting used to the "new" lips, wanting just a little bit more. Now that people are removing their fillers, I bet they did not saw themselves like everybody else did. I'm glad girlies are realizing they look better with their natural lips (or maybe just a little bit, not a sausage one)

As someone who understands what it’s like to struggle with mental health illness Nessa should have found a more supportive way to recommend she gets help. After all celebrities are nothing without their fans. They sign up for a life in the public and if they don’t like it they’re free to walk away at any time.
