Haha, the unconscious disconnect between 'the key is we want to avoid over committing to journals / not get burnout' and 'here are my eight journals' is quite funny
Your idea with the sticky notes is going to be so helpful for me! Planning layouts is easy for me, but for some reason I agonize over what order to put them in. Thanks for sharing your idea! 💜
I love these community videos so much! Thanks for having me, Jess, and thanks to all the contributors for sharing these great ideas and also just things to think about as we all get set for the new year!
Piggy backing off of the reusable dry-erase spreads... I actually suggest using wet-erase or overhead markers! Been doing this for my D&D journal and I am in love with it. Also it soothes my anxiety a little because I'm always scared the dry erase will get smudged or come off by accident 😂
Jess, what an amazing video! I am normally not much of a commenter at all, but I just had to on this one! I love how you not only gave us a bunch of ideas, but also introduced us to a bunch of creators! I got several new subscriptions out of it. Thank you for introducing us! 🌷
I loved this video from last year, and I'm so excited you were able to again collaborate with so many journalers who have great ideas! Thank you so much for this video 🤗💜
Look how far you have come!!! I started watching your channel in 2017, right when you started. Your setups and ideas have helped me tremendously over the years. Congratulations on reaching over 100000 subscribers. Thankyou for your energy and consistency. 🎉
This was a great video to do during new journal set up season. All of these ideas are interesting and creative. Also, thank you for pinning a list of the creators and their channels/social media info so we could continue to explore their ideas.
10:10 As I'm a shopaholic, I keep my shopping list in the back, I have a another 'on' the front diy pocket for monthly layouts and themes checklist & major events. (I use 4 bujos per year and tip-ins where practical).
This was fantastic. So many great creators. I saw my favs in this bunch too. But I will definitely look at the others as well. Really great advice for the coming year and just great advice in general. Thank you Jess for bringing this collaboration together. A lot of great advice.
I had such a fun time making the video for this collab - thank so much for inviting me to take part Jess 💜Everyone has contributed so many great ideas!📚✏
Hey! I've been really out of the habit of journaling and your recent 2025 set up videos have really inspired me to get back into it and change up the way I track my daily logs and set up my monthly spreads. I've even dug out my Ryder Carroll book to go back to basics as since going back to work after my second child (who's now 3) I feel like I'm busier than ever and I need to completely reset! Thank you ! I will def keep watching and hope to get my mojo back!! xx
It took me ages to figure out what I actually need in a planner. But the plus side to finally figuring it out is that planning is no longer a chore - it actually makes my life run more smoothly.
One thing that was a game changer for me was to ditch traditional journals. I used to not complete journals because I'd either not have the mental energy to keep redoing spreads or I'd want to change the order of stuff and then I'd lose motivation as I couldn't do it. This year I'm going with a pre printed and binded planer and for notebooks and reflection journals I've been using smart notebooks and ring binders and I found that my anxieties regarding journaling have disappeared
I love this so so much! The main reason is because by inviting different BUJO creatives we can be reminded that there is no “right way” to have a journal. The whole purpose of the bullet journal system is for you to do what works for YOU!!!
This is freaking awesome! What a grand collaboration, it’s really nice to see to see some of my favorites together in one video spreading their unique insights one a common passion. Great tips before 2025.
Using a mix of dutch doors and waterfall tabs and it's really made the difference for me. I love notebooks flexibility but I hate having to repeat information again and again, such as dates. So each month I set up ten or a dozen pages like so : - first, I cut roughly a cm all along the right side of all ten pages. That allows me to write each day of the month on the first and last page and have them visible from each dutch door. These in-between pages will be my specific to-do lists and trackers with daily entries. - Then I will make these dutch doors into vertical waterfall tabs by cutting about a cm at the top of each page (it can be done from the bottom as well), starting from the one before last and cutting a little more from each until I reach the second page of my setup. I can then add washi tape to these waterfall tabs and I will have a square cm left on the last page, lining with each tab, allowing me to put a reference and quickly know what's on each tab. I'm using a mix of my own shorthand and toki pona for that but you could just number them. My first page will be my calendar, where I note appointments (I don't have a very busy life so a line a day works for me), on the last page or after that will be an index for the rest of the pages that I will be using that month, for art, events planning, collections, reflexions and so on. Daily pages. Anything that needs more than a line gets referred to wherever I made a longer entry about it. I hope I managed to explain it. It sounds complicated but it is about the only way journaling works for me, with everything visible at a glance because if not it will be forgotten and nothing needlessly repeated. That system can easily be adapted to fit anything that needs a daily reference within a month (so it's especially useful for trackers) and can be paired with weekly spreads or dailies. I usually include weeklies on one of the waterfall dutch tab door thing so it lines up with the list of days on the sides. And of course, it's the perfect excuse to get more washi tape, cause you know babe, I need it to fit this month color palette and I don't have quite the one but look there, I found this little cutie and it's only 50 cents... 😂 I also have my own system for future log because again, if it's not visible or if it needs to be copied again and again, I'm not using it. I got one of these to-do list notepads, with slim pages. I prepare a bunch in advance. So on each, I stamp a mini calendar (or 2 or 3), add some decor, name of the month etc. Then I punch a small hole on top, do the same to the page I dedicated to be my future log and pin everything together with a brad (I call them Parisiens fasteners, not sure which is the proper term l. Each month, I move them forward to their new place, minus the one that became irrelevant. I suppose one could use sticky notes or washi tape to fasten everything but since I'm gonna be moving them round the year, they will be stuck/unstuck 12 times at least and need to hold up good so I find using a brad more secure even if it makes a bump on the page. I got plenty of space on them slim pages to add future todos, holidays and everything a future log can be used for. Hope it inspires someone ! Much❤ and🎉 for the vid !
this is probably the best planner setup video I've seen so far. Appreciate how you collaborated with different creators to share their own tips. GREAT JOB :)
Oh man! This was wonderful! Thank you for getting together with all these creators to share their tips and allowing us to find new favorite journalists!
A thing I do every single new journal no matter when in the year, I print a calendar at the start of the year to use as a tip-in with washi tape. Doing with washi means it can easily move into a new journal. For me, if I need to quickly know what date x day is, it's easier than flipping back and forth to my monthly or getting out my yearly to see my future log (is also a good way to check I got the dates right, I have a HORRIBLE habit of doing things like starting the month on the wrong day, skipping a day etc.)
Awesome video and so kind for inviting other journalers! When starting a new journal, the thing thst overwhelms me the most is... writing my name on the first page! LOL I don't want to ruin it😂 I am also one of those that plan everything beforehand, color scheme included, before taking action on the blank pages. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷, Jess!
what a great video and collaboration. Such a fun way to showcase different ideas and styles, and a great way to introduce us to new creators as well :)
What kind of printer are you using for your photos? I'm trying to decide between the HP Sprocket, Ivy 2, and the Instax. Watched lots of videos, but can't make a solid decision.
I guess if it works for me. It doesn't really matter even if it is not beautiful. Although I can't deny I sometimes try my best to make it beautiful then ending up having a hard time maintaining it. 😆
I love your video ❤, I came from sarra in her HeartBreathings channel. So many people and their ideas, I can't wait to use them in my planners .. congratulations on 100k 🎉❤❤ Just subscribe to your channel 🥰
I've found I'm really good at _making_ the monthly goals and plans, but afterwards my journal ends up just forgotten about and I don't really work towards them, which results in me having made the same goals every single month this year because I keep failing them when the dopamine from a new thing goes. 😐
I am trying my hardest to find a better way to keep track of content creation. I have so many irons in the fire that if I don't write it down and track it, I will lose track of it. Does anybody have any tips or suggestions? I make gaming and reaction/review videos on two separate channels. My biggest problem is keeping track of the series and movies I watch. THANKS for anyone who suggests anything!
