No jumpscares, no supernatural elements, yet i can't watch this again. A movie that can be interpreted in 1000 different ways yet still provide room for ambiguity. A movie that terrifies you with atmosphere, tone, claustrophobia and the creepiness of the foghorn wailing in the background. Getting rid of a stigma from a bad acting role is hard to do. People forgive and even like actors who give their all to a role, no matter how bad. If one is phoning it in, the audience can tell and remember . It’s as if the actor showed that they don’t really care about their job nor the audience’s time and money.

Not every film is aimed at everyone. This film seems aimed at a particular audience and it's marketing itself to them. If it was a film aimed at that crowd but marketed itself to the lowest common denominator it'd be a flop. A24 put out a lot of artsy and stuff that doesn't always succeed in the box office but I wanna see more stuff that's willing to take risks, and I'm willing to bet most fans of A24's work agree with me there.
